The thing about going ER/Flicker which, you go ER first, then tanky, you get Flicker last or once you don't need to be tankier to survive. Anyway, next time try it out for realsies. Plus you even said: "I am playing a top lane tank, you know how it goes when I don't play the damage dealer." Well...you had the opportunity to be the damage dealer and you chose tank. That said, you were correct that it's a split pushing/dueling build and your mid got hardcore smurfed on, so this was indeed a bad game for it.
I remember the times before Taric is reworked. I used to play him on top lane, build full armor and 1v4 1v5 the enemy team if they were full AD. It was most fun only second to playing AP Tristana (before she is reworked too).
I ❤ me some Taric, one of my favorite champs. Weird as hell. Hard-ish to play in a team environment unless your teammates are familiar with how his abilities work. Easy to kite, but that's the tradeoff for being one of the best (if not the best) stand-and-tank 1v1 champs in the game. A few pointers: get 2 points in Q before one point in W, but then max your favored ability before putting more into Q. I don't put more than 4 in Q until late game because it is somewhat infrequent to actually use a 5-charge Q in the middle of a fight, and that extra point in E or W is usually more impactful. I usually build these same items, but almost always Merc Treads. He's just too easy to lock down. When we had mythic items, Gauntlet provided tenacity as well.

I could see taric with titanic and overlords bloodmail being an absolute chad. probably need something like stridebreaker also tho so you can stay in melee range
I know you had to go tank this game but seeing a Taric with Essence Reaver would be hilarious. Maybe a on-hit mana item would be good for extra mana padding plus the on-hit damage would be nice. In fact, I guess a full on-hit damage Taric would be fun to watch. Maybe BORK for first or second item. Possibly Phantom Dancer for movespeed so it's harder to be kited.
So glad you didn’t do navori and ER. Navori has had a bug forever where it breaks your heal and puts it on an even longer cooldown lol and with no on hit on ER you’d be doing a whole lot of no damage lol
If you wanted insane healing you need to try Helia. With how Taric’s healing and autos work he can put out 300HP heals to an ally. That with wits end and bloodsong and I’ve out damaged my mid and jgl lol
A max mana ryze build would look like this: tear>ROA>CDR/Defensive Boots>Seraphine's>Ludens/Blackfire>Rabadons>Blackfire/Ludens then you could sell boots for either MPen, if you need armour can go zhonyas or even F.Heart, or if you really just want mana+ap then you have malignance though he cant use the damage part of it (but if you have a team that is actually making good use of your ult, you could build it last I guess so you can have it up more often, another great, possibly the best boot replacement, especially for ryze is cosmic drive :)

Quick tip with taric. You put 2 points into q before maxing e so you get double the healing.

not really, trundle is, taric just works because darius players don't usually know how strong Taric's lvl 1-2 is and go for a cheese
