My wife gave me the same t-shirt on Father's Day. It was a "conditional" gift. I had an old t-shirt with Iron-Man, Thor and Captain America busting through a wall, but (according to my wife) it had holes in it that looked like I'd been shot. She told me that could have the new t-shirt AFTER I threw out the old one. A fair trade. :)
I went and subscribed to your channel. I like that you talk about everything connected to comics. Some channels just talk about hot books, or slabbing. You have a love for all titles and look for books you enjoy. Keep up the great work!
Mike it was great to meet you. Thank you so much for the mentions. I love Mandalorian, especially the Bill Burr episodes. But I don't hold it against anyone that doesn't like what I do.
Great meeting you too! I definitely like the Mandalorian, just don’t love it. I wish it was slightly more adult maybe but its Disney and I should be happy my kids can enjoy it.
I’m from SC and am visiting MA. Gonna try a couple of flea markets in northeast MA while I’m in the area. Inspired on vacay to check them out because of your awesome show.
Hey Mike, great video! Providence is an awesome book! It's one of Alan Moore's finest. As a loyal Star Wars Original Trilogy fan I appreciate you views but, The Mandalorian is surprisingly an enjoy watch. Nice pick ups.
That's so funny, I just came across the Northboro show dates the other day. It might conflict with some plans I have, but as a result of those other plans, I may get to finally check out Nick's in Danvers!
A few weeks ago I passed through Grafton, New South Wales Mike, but no flea market unfortunately. Oh wow, I remember that Marvel 1976 calendar! I like how Cap, Spidey and the Hulk take the place of the three figures in Willard's famous painting "The Spirit Of '76". Yes, you should have bought it, especially in such great condition. I like the Western angle on The Mandalorian, and as you said, some episodes and scenes are very appealing, however overall I think it's a good show but not great. Alan Moore has done a lot of very good work expanding Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Chambers' "The King In Yellow" is a weird fiction classic, and it's free thanks to Project Gutenberg.
Awesome shirt, kids are the best mine always spoil me because my birthday and Father's day are usually the same weekend. I love the content you're channel is awesome and while I do love Marvel, DC is always my first love. Keep up the great work.
PROVIDENCE #1 is a great find. That series is not easy to find in the wild. I had to piece together my full run from many different comic sites and eBay auctions. I am obsessed with Weird Fiction and Lovecraftian Cosmic Horror. THE KING IN YELLOW by Robert W. Chambers is one of my all-time favorite weird mythos. I discovered it through TRUE DETECTIVE Season 1 and went down the rabbit hole from there. You always manage to mention the coolest niche stuff that others might miss. Great channel!
Hey you had some giveaways but I really didn’t get to hear about the winners. Kinda of a bummer! But oh well still a great RUclips channel! Love seeing the 1st half with the flea market! Keep hunting keep buying! KHKB!
That Providence book is pretty neat. For the Star Wars, I'm like you in that I like the movies and toys, but not as much for the comics. I also like the Mandalorian - but not so much for Andor. In fact, I liked the Obi Wan series the best so far. Keep it up.
A friend of mine took me over to HP Lovecraft's house 2 months ago...pretty cool. I would get the Providence series just for the New England connection.
Great pickups Mike! I really liked the Mando series. I’m a big fan of spaghetti westerns and I feel like the show homaged that pretty well. But I hear ya on Star Wars overall. I feel the same. I’ve never heard of that Wakandan character. Seems cool though. And lastly, I’m a huge Lovecraft fan! But I didn’t know about the Providence series so I’ll definitely be checking that out! Thanks!
It's good to see that you make more videos in the week and not only on Mondays. as always, great job Mike, keep up the hunt! ✊✊ (I didn't know about that Alan Moore comic, and I'm a fan. thanks for the information)
I can agree with Star Wars my love has faded over time and never had the urge to collect Star Wars books besides #1. As you said it’s just not the true first apperance
Shirt is awesome Mike, like you I really enjoy the Star Wars Movies , but have yet to collect any Star Wars comics, hey are you watching and do u like Secret Invasion series on Disney Plus, great video as usual. Have a great July 4th and happy hunting. Rick 😎✌️
That's cool that you're into PROVIDENCE. Collecting everything Alan Moore did is what got me back into comics a couple of years ago. I got the hardback volumes as they came out. Really gorgeous books and Alan's writing is matched by Jacen Burrows incredibly detailed art. Think you have to have a good understanding and to have read lots of Lovecraft to get much out of the series but sounds like you do. And seeing as you're from the same neck of the woods, probably even more potent for ya! Next time I'm in the states I'd love to do a New England trip to take in some of the Lovecraft spots (and some of the comic shops you've intro'd on this channel!). Great to pick up the number 1 issue. I've got a couple of the original issues now too and NEONOMICON by the same team. That one's a bit more disturbing and controversial than PROVIDENCE but does tie in a little.
Good evening Michael Great show sir. Good old HP, a great writer, much sampled by other writers and artist, Including Robert E Howard, another short lived master. Alan Moore is also a great master. I wonder if the copyright is in public domain now? There is just too much Star Wars content now, I haven't bothered with Disney shows, Neither has my son who was a living breathing class A Star Wars devotee. Keep[p up the great work. Cheers Al Thegoldkeyfourcolorkidownunda
As for 1st appearance of Tosin, I just picked up a 1st print graded 9.8 for under $100 so I also feel like I got a steal. Great pick up and I'm sure it was worth waiting for
Providence is such a fantastic run to cover in one of your videos. You keep this up Mike , and you may have to have a designated indie corner roundup. Getting deep into the Avatar titles however might jeopardize the family friendly nature of the videos.
If you like Alan Moore+Jacen Burrows+HPlovecraft then you would absolutely love the 2003 comicbook “The Courtyard” it is an adaptation of a prose novel by Moor into a comic illustrated by Burrows. Its so freaking creepy and scary. Trust me, look it up, you will loved it! (Just avoid the sequel 😅)
I kinda agree with you about Star Wars (being more into the early movies and not really into it as much now).... The movies (at least 4,5,6) when I was a kid were the most awesome things I had ever seen. They still hold up. And I too wasn't really into Star Wars comics (although, I was lucky enough to have bought a Star Wars #1 cause my newsstand was out of Action Comics that week or something)... And while I like the Star Wars shows on Disney+ I don't think anything will ever be as incredible as being a kid seeing those awesome stories and visual effects on the big screen... But part of what keeps me going back to the shows is actually the technical side. Ever wondered how they're able to get the filmic scope and visual effects in a weekly TV series? The Mandalorian was the first (I think) show to use a thing called the Sphere. It's this super high tech virtual screen that's 25 feet tall, 70 feet across and 270 degrees. Basically they are doing a live rear projection while they're shooting. So unlike when they were filming the movies, these days, the actors in the scene are seeing the same things in the background we see at home. It's kinda jaw dropping to think of it. I heard there's literally a team of like 30 people on set controlling where Grogu will sit, and how his eyes will wink, or where the ship will decend moment by moment. And as I said, knowing that makes me love the show for its sheer audacity. Its kinda the same feeling I had when I first saw "film" like visual effects watching Star Trek the Next Generation way back when... (Yes, I'm a nerd).. Anyway, great video, as usual!
Yeah I think the sphere technology is cool but it’s limiting whenever they need more room. There were a couple of chase scenes, one in Boba Fett, and an infamous foot race in Obi-wan where the actors are CLEARLY in a small area and it looks like the actors are going super slow and “acting” like they aren’t. Then you look at Andor which was actually filmed outside and the scope is night and day. The technology is amazing but the human eye can still discern “real” from “fake” even when the subject matter is an alien planet. Thanks for the great comment!
I think DC comics stopped distributing newsstand books in 2011, Marvel followed in 2013. That Black Panther #200/#3 came out last year if I'm not mistaken.
I think for five dollars a book you did very well. I love the idea of a free market search but unfortunately, the only one around me is on a day I can’t attend.
I've always wondered if maybe Mandalorian gets as much love as it does because the movies were so bad? That fandom is maybe grateful in a way that it's just not terrible? 😊
I thought seasons one and two of the Mandalorian was decent to good but season three didn’t live up to the other two seasons. Poor writing and I never finished the season. Love your videos bud!
I stayed away from buying Black Panther 200 because l thought Marvel….sorry Disney was yet again popping out another first appearance to steal collectors money again. First appearances seem to be a theme today and l just expect the stories to not matter but it was nice to listen to you talk about the character and how he has potential. Message received.
Disney focuses too much on kids with Star Wars and unfortunately you see this too often. That is quite disappointing for us "older" fans. It's time for a good dark Sith series aimed at an older audience. For example, I have been disappointed for years with what they have shown of the Force so far. The Force jump and Force push is actually what you get to see the most. The impact of lightsabers has also been depicted on a childish level by Disney. This way you will not see severed limbs or blood. I have a higher expectation of the Ashoka series after seeing the action and space battles in the trailer. For fun you could take a look at the older Darkhorse Star Wars (mostly) 6 issue limited series. I enjoyed reading Tales of the Jedi, Golden Age of the Sith, Sith War, Fall of the Sith, Freedon Nadd uprising and a few other series from the early years on the Star Wars timeline (all far before the battle of Yavin)....
Clone wars is goated and bad batch! Mando 1-3 is great actually. There’s only a few bad episodes in this past season. It’s entertaining. Andor was great, but did have it’s slow and boring moments.
To be honest i think Star Wars is over rated but my 8 year old Son loves Star Wars, do to i consider my self a geek i had to watch the movies with him the new ones and the old ones now i kind of like them but not that much But, Rogue One, Mandalorian, Andor i do like a lot, please dont hate on me i was never a fan as a kid it was not my thing i love Marvel and Monsters but not Star wars sorry . Great Videos and nices finds
Love the videos Mike! I eagerly wait on all the uploads and can’t wait to see each video! I am extremely interested to hear what your opinion is on the Spider-Verse movies and especially Across the Spider-Verse! They are both 2 of my absolute favourite movies of all time and Miles is my favourite Marvel character 🕷️🕸️
I actually did a recent interview with my friends the Absolute Game of Nerds where we talked about the Spiderverse movies, but the short answer is I love them, I think they are not only the best superhero and Spider-Man movies ever but also the best animated films of all time!

Haha, I never throw away shirts and have had that exact conversation before
I had that Marvel Bi-Centennial Calendar in 1976!
Best. Tee. Ever. Always appreciate your passion and sharing your musings about the comics you pick up.

The shirt is AWESOME and the Mando books are REALLY COOL!!!
Thanks for the look at the Marvel Bicentennial calendar. I was just wondering the other day what those were like.
If it was a little cheaper I would’ve bought it. Very cool.
Dig the Lovecraft genre, you've added another series I'll be hunting out there in the wild.
That Alpha Flight 40 you passed up is one of the 25th anniversary covers that has been eluding me. Great video
That's so funny, I just came across the Northboro show dates the other day. It might conflict with some plans I have, but as a result of those other plans, I may get to finally check out Nick's in Danvers!

He was charging a little more than I wanted to pay

You're correct about The Mandolorain . It's cheap hype (still good) for video games and other merchandise for people to collect. 😊
