Sad reality in the Philippines 🇵🇭 Poverty in Manila

- Hello my dear friend! The purpose of this video is to show people the real life of the country where I travel, I show both sides - not only the positive, but also the negative. So, no offence. In this video, I walk through the biggest slums in Manila. I didn't expect to see so many homeless and beggars in the Philippines. But unfortunately this is the sad reality today in the Philippines. I was staying in the Ermita area in the capital city of Manila and frankly, I was shocked to see how many people live there. Their living conditions are just terrible.
Of course, I help people when I can and when I see that they are in dire need. But unfortunately there are also a lot of beggars, drug addicts who do not want to work and instead ask for money on the streets and after that spend the money on booze or drugs. Worst of all, these people teach the same skills to their children and unfortunately the government does nothing about it. I'm talking not only about the Philippines. The same situation in almost every country today and on the news and on social media we want to hear and see only the positive side. But let me ask you: what is the purpose to see and hear the positive side if the real life for many people is completely fuck*d up today?
By showing this video, I am raising awareness of this issue so that I can seek help from international charities. And at the same time, shame local authorities for not solving the problem because usually people don't know the real situation in the Philippines. Many bloggers simply show the positive side of their traveling pretending that poverty does not exist in their fake wonderful world...
As for the Philippines 🇵🇭 well, AGAIN... no offense to anyone but on my channel I just share my OWN experience... I have many videos about the Philippines. Some good, some bad and that's life whether you like it or not my friend... I also wish the best for all people there and hope that the poverty situation will change soon... People in the Philippines are very friendly and open-minded, and the country itself is absolutely beautiful, with amazing culture and great history ❤️🇵🇭

I'm in the Philippines & I see this every day, I don't record it, I don't really speak on it, but you can't deny what you see just like I can't deny homelessness in America. I'm use to seeing homeless adults in my hometown but what I'm not use to seeing is homeless children. It breaks my heart. Getting mad because someone pointed it out will not do anything. All homelessness needs to be pointed out all over this world.
Salamat Po....yes it's true 😢😢😢😢😢 I moving back and my wife from Mindanao....and yes America.....I live in California and it's worse of all .... extremely more than rest of country and I am in San Jose Silicon Valley and it's most expensive place in America.....I love you Philippines I will help again when I come back

California is nothing like you see in the Philippines, dude. What are you talking about? You don't find homeless families on the streets of San Jose. It's almost always single people that are homeless in America, and it's mostly by choice. Many don't want to work, or they're on drugs.

They're still Filipino and still they are human
We are all humans in one house called Earth. But our imagination has created more chaos than peace.
I think they KNOW it, but NOT ALL people are DESTINE to LIVE in a SAME PLACE, my PROOF is, some people arriving in a Metropolis like METRO MANILA and METRO CEBU, have jobs while others DONT, some are lucky some are not, why? because THEY are NOT DESTINE to live in That place, but SHOULD had stay in their provinces, it is ONLY the person WISH/DESIRE to have that kind of life, but IT is NOT their destiny,

It's what happens when Catholic Church has meddles with politics banning contraceptives

That's because their Christian government has not legalized divorce yet. So as a result, many men abandon their wives and kids when they are not happy or can't support them. So many moms who have no jobs or a family support system wind up on the streets. It's very sad.
Every country should get welfare that would end poverty for everyone for ever

I see so many people got offended in the comments and comparing it to the situation in the US, etc. I know the Philippines has good sides and beautiful places but I came here because I wanted to see poverty in the Philippines (for research) not the US (not to mention that they aren’t the same) and I’m glad that somebody is filming this side of the country. Of course it happens all over the world (not everywhere is as comparable as this tho) but it is also true that it happens in your country. I don’t really get the comments that keep comparing this to the US or anywhere else, cuz those who wanna see the situation in the US would search for such videos and not be here to begin with.
I couldn't agree more with you my friend.
USA is a country where people get offended over stupid nonsense lol.
if you film the poor homeless people here in los angeles you might not live to see another day..be grateful filipinos re much kinder..trying filming skid's row here andd end up in ICU
People are foolish to think it's the same in the US
but thats the point ..as a tourist or even as a resident its hard to film poor people in usa because they might throw a knife at you or shoot you even..people who film these places in usa should wear an official badge that he or she is a part of a broaddcasting team or is accompanied by police officers to make it official so its hard to find videos of tourist people like yoourself or some one out to make money by filming the poor

@@dollybailey6108 I live in america, one of the richest countries in the world and we have hundreds of thousands living just like this, on the sidewalks, in the woods in tents, its awful, govts spend billions to kill people but wont spend money to help people live.
@@steven-u1q in this country, so many of the homeless are that way by choice. What I mean by that is, they choose their addiction, refuse treatment for mental illness etc. they prefer living on the street than having any kind of structure in their life. Believe me, I know not all of them unfortunately, but a lot of the problems would be solved if we would just make the hard choices and force these people to not destroy the communities they live in. This idea that it’s a human right to defecate on the street while strung out on whatever is crazy. They need to be segregated from normal society.
@@dollybailey6108 one thing you don’t see comma in the Philippines, are people strung out on drugs out in the open, defecating in doorways of businesses, at least not in the time I was there, and I was in the provinces as well as the cities. That's the problem in the Philippines. They keep on electing a libertarian type of government. Libertarian governments don't help people at all. They are also so religious there in the Philippines. Where's the church to help them? No human being should be living like that on the streets. 😢

A familiar feeling, a feeling of America. It's really the country of America's good friends. The streets are the same style and everyone sleeps on the streets.
You can find poverty everywhere in any country. Even in America, there's a lot of poverty, especially now that people are sleeping in the street😊

Homeless children are immediately picked up by child protective services; not allowed to have kids homeless. That’s the difference

Let's be real. The level and scale of poverty in the Philippines is way worse than the developed or developing countries. You don't see babies rolling on the street in those countries. @@Marcus_-sy9fi That's TRUE our country the Philippines 🇵🇭 is really a POOR country, because of Corruption.
Sadly poverty is rampant all over the country. One minute you can be walking around in a modern well tidy area or neighborhood, a moment later youre in a slum and surrounded by poverty. As a Filipino I do not recommend Philippines for tourism. Things need to change for the better first.

Poverty is manmade. The ruling class monopolize the resources and leave everyone else destitute. The Philippines is full of very wealthy people.
So you can see and you are aware....yes it's true
Unequal wealth distribution caused by corrupted politicians. Uneducated people there also has this mindset of "money corrupts" "you're happier if you're poor" because of their religious belief.
You overlooked that over population is one of the main culprits of poverty in the Philippines to the point that Philippines main export is human labor second to bananas. If you reduced the over population, everyone in the Philippines will be wealthy.
@@hangten1904 it's down to mindset too. Young girls need to prioritize their education before anything else. Don't make babies when you can't feed them. Besides it's ingrained in poor Filipinos mindset to marry foreigners (having inferiority complex).

Thank you for sharing your point of view sir. It is the sad reality. I know other countries have homeless people aswell . Not as bad as this in the PH But this is really one of the worst.
It's heartbreaking 💔 but this is the reality of life for the majority of the population living in the city 😢
Looks like sections of the big cities in the United States. I don't say that to downplay the situation there, only to add that the situation in US has gotten out of hand.
In the United States the problem is drug addiction, not poverty.
😪😪😪Homeless are everywhere, here in the U.S there are many homeless. Los Angeles, Santa Monica, San Francisco...
Fr
I feel bad for every homeless people cause it's so hard to live in street
many countries have same situation like that.. they choice to live like that. instead to lived country side. not only in manila Philippines but other countries have too.
I LOVE INDONESIA...❤❤❤ Tasikmalaya...👍👍👍
I wonder if the author 1st shocking video, was about showing the poverty of his country.

@@alexmur02 Cheers Alex. All the very best with your channel too. Keep up the inspirational VLOGS.
You’ve only seen the few part of daily poverty life of the people there Sir! There’s millions of people actually suffer there because of poverty. It’s not just in Manila or the Philippines alone. Try to explore your genuine concern also in other country where you can actually see that poverty is actually all over the world. Thank you.
Yes, unfortunately you're right my dear friend. Poverty is all over the world today, and the same goes for my own country. It can be even worse in some countries and that's our huge problem today... We spend billions of dollars on unnecessary things, wars, space exploration etc...while people are literally dying from hunger and poverty in front of us...
@@alexmur02Yes Sir! Totally 100% agree with you. Thank you.
@@alexmur02 And there's another big problem in the US today the invasion of the migrants from around the world supposedly seeking asylum which I think is bull****. They wanted to come to America for free. We the tax payers are forced to pay for their housing, food, medical, etc. etc. Before helping others the government should help first its own people ( the homeless).
This video is about the Philippines not other countries seems your Filipino aho cannot accept the truth.
Looks just like New York, Chicago, LA, Atlanta, Memphis, new Orleans and many other cities in America.
Try to visit their slums and your will be shocked even more.
At least they have a place to lay their heads on, but homeless in the US have a place, but tents and cardboard boxes. Slum dwellers are all over Asian countries like India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, etc.
@nattapovvvddd There was a foreign vlogger vlogging in the slum area in Manila. He was impressed by the friendliness of the slum dwellers and they speak English well even the kids. They are always smiling and offer to shake hands with him.
They are lazy people
You can't force them to work
Everywhere around the world there are lazy people
It's not the fault of a country
It's the fault of the poor person
Just as there are drug addicts
It's there choice to be addicts😢
That is such a stupid statement! How can you blame someone who is born into poverty? If a government fails to implement policies to help people move out of poverty, then it is to blame!
Go to BGC. You’ll see the disparity between the rich and the poor.
There is poverty anywhere, it is a good opportunity to help. But give proper help. Giving alms just encourages people to beg more. My aunt gave alms to a beggar and as she walked away she had the urge too look back, she saw a man take the money from the beggar and walked away, the man was there all the while, a cousin who was a seminarian worked with kids begging in the streets, the kids would beg then gamble among themselves whoever won would buy ruby from the local pusher distribute the rugby with the rest of the group and keep any extra monies for himself. The story of a very old beggar from a different country, a person wanted to help, followed the old man to see where he lived, The old man lived in a big house with two vehicles. Just from begging. If you want to give, give in kind,, like food. Or give to charitable intitutions that know how to help the poor so they do not need to beg.
Please don't give money but food. Some of them buys Rugby or solvent to sniffed.
@PAGTATAGera You are talking about the homeless here in the US. They beg for money with their sign in cardboard saying "I am hungry and need food" and people just give even me especially if they have dogs with them. One time I had to go inside the grocery store to buy dog food (it's good I did not give him the money for dog food).
If you could watch the video of the homeless in Philadelphia you won't believe it if you see them for yourself. They look like zombies, because of the effect of the drugs. They do it in public by using syringe and others are smoking marijuana, men and women.
Also some beggars (not all) may be part of a syndicate that send them out to beg and if they don't bring money they get beaten. Especially children.
Many buy Shabu crystal meth.
Come To S. Sacramento California.
Looks like my neighborhood .
I seen itself when in Philippines wish their government help the people
The Marcos's stole up to 30 billion dollars when they were in power. They havent recovered a cent of it, then they voted in Bongbong Marcos the son, who then ensured any investigation went away and continued the plunder. But they did vote these people in, its not a dictatorship so the Phillipinos have the people power to change things.
Trip out I walked that same area. My hotel was right there. I walked it at 2am and gave out some money to beggars. Felt great.
