When it comes to ship building, I could TOTALLY see people making mods for this game that let you build ships like Serenity from Firefly and other TV shows and movies. THAT would be awesome.
I’m hoping modders can add seemless space to planet flight transition. The joy of just flying from solar system to solar system to then fly down manually to a planet is too immersive to not notice. One of the best things about NMS.
They can't. The game has to be specifically designed around it and it's really nothing but smoke and mirrors to give the impression of that. There's a good reason why there's always a slight stutter when exiting a planet's atmosphere in NMS - there is a transition, it's not seamless. And you can't fly from one solar system to another, you have to jump. Hell, you can't even fly to the star of a solar system. Same thing for Elite Dangerous - while the star system is seamless, you can't fly from one solar system to another, you have to jump.
I'm going to wait for people's reaction after this game launches before doing anything. I have trust issues with games nowadays especially from these companies. I hope its at least not a buggy mess.
Yeah lol, I just hope people don't get too overhyped about this like... almost every super anticipated game in the last several years, especially with preorders. The idea of buying a game day one at this point is laughable, just encourages game companies to continue being shitheads
Yeah, this is where I am too. I was so underwhelmed with Fallout 4 and '76 was such a dumpster fire at launch that I'm going with "wait and see" over "get hyped".
I kinda like where this is going. Also glad they pushed it back for some more time in the oven. Beyond done with games releasing broken af and needing 1+ years of patches before playable.
Yeah like 76, that game had huge potential. I feel like Bathesda was not sure what to do or which direction to go with it, for now it’s just all over the place. There is a rumor though that 76 was experimental for grounds for Fallout 5. But, Reddit rumors.
Nah, this is grounded SCI-Fi, keep it as it is. I already was disappointed that they showed space crabs and stuff, I wanted for this to be realistic version of the future, no aliens. But whatever, I agree with everything Delrith said about this reveal, empty computer generated maps - the game.
@@iimJacKaL I know how big universe is, thats the point. There are probably Billions of alien civilizations, or there was, but the unrealistic part is that Human race will ever be advanced enough to meet even 1 of them.
No number iteration engine is from the ground up, is more than likely that Unreal 5 still has a line of code or two of the first Unreal engine in it, hence the numbered part. It just makes sense to build from what’s already there. That being said (Unreal is awesome don’t get me wrong) I rather have them make their game on their on engine rather than Unreal, lots of games like the outer worlds or Vampir have what I call the Unreal assets generic stench that for some reason I freaking detest
I hope the gunplay is decent in this game. Fallout 4 had decent shooting mechanics (I could actually hit enemies without using VATS constantly like in Fallout 3 and New Vegas), so I hope it's going to be another step up. 🤞 Also, really looking forward to the ship building.
I honestly am not feeling a lot of the typical initial cynicism i would with the last few BGS games. Im not disillusioned, im aware the possibility is always there, but my gut tells me because this is BGS's big/new I.P, they are probably going "balls to the wall" trying to really make this one something sound and special.
They better have mod support. Mods are what has kept Skyrim and Fallout so relevant, a decade later. No other game has mods like Bethesda games, so that's one thing to be very excited about.
I disagree, vanilla Bethesda games may have been helped by the modding community but the games have always been able to maintain popularity without mods. This is supported by the fact most copies of Skyrim were sold on consoles, before modding was ever available on the console versions. I believe your bias is clouding your opinion.
When they revealed it I was kind of into it, not really hyped for it. It was only after having this in depth look at it with this video that I started to get excited for it. Great job and great content as usual Gameranx!
Mod Support = a huge W I remember playing Fallout 4 full on Mod's enabled. Best experience I had. But this time could be even better because space is vast and etternal. I want to see will there be a galaxy map or something. Would we be able to travel around The Milky Way, touch some Black holes etc. But building aspect of the these games were the most interesting to me. I've spent like 400h+ just by building my settlements
I hope the ai are going to be smart, it would be great if they are either the best at what they do by default of if you can find people of varying skill like MGS5
Not viable to make. The amount of time it takes to create such cities is tremendous, the game would never leave development unless those cities were either completely devoid of any meaningful content or completely procedurally generated.
I would prefer if they for the ship building you could make a really big ship that has a lot of cargo space but very slow and you can have a giant crew and things like that but you can also make a much smaller ship that's fast but has a smaller crew and less cargo space
I was actually incredibly excited when no man's sky was coming out, only to be disappointed. So it's cool to see another space exploration game coming out that May actually be fun and worth playing. I'm also a huge fan of Fallout 3 and Skyrim, so it's really cool to see Bethesda making another RPG in their style. I personally can't wait for this game!
13:55 I feel like that was a given honestly. Bethesda wouldn't dare make a single player game without mod support these days, it's the main thing keeping them going.
Yeah, they really do put a lot of work to get their games to be able to be as modded as they can. I'd be shocked if they stopped doing it as they're the only company that I know of that does it to this extent.
@@chainsaw8507 My biggest concern is if they use the same performance optimisation system as fallout 4 and fallout 76. That system really stifled worldspace and location modding for fallout 4 compared to Skyrim.
Strange that they only showed off "old school" projectile type weapons rather than energy weapons. Fallout 4 had loads of energy and plasma based weapon which suit this game a lot more rather than a double barreled shot gun lol
I'm cautiously excited about this release. Also, I would have preferred 6-10 really fleshed out planets and/or space stations instead of 1000 resources planets. That's just my hot take. I could be wrong in the end.
Before you all get too excited let me remind you of Fallout 76. They hyped the hell out of that, and essentially just stopped making the game a third of the way in and tried to tell us that it's what we had been asking for for years.

I'm so tentatively hyped for this. Fallout 76 and other let downs from big studios lately has me skeptical, but I can't help but be excited for a new Bethesda game. Even more so for a new Bethesda IP! Please for the love of Todd be good!
I really want a space rpg with psionics, especially a bethesda take on how psionic powers would be used gamewise. When people make space scifi, they tend to go somewhat realistic, even if there are wacky things in it... hence no magic and no powers of any kind... though maybe minor telepathy from some races. Yes, I'm aware that Mass Effect, Starwars, and Destiny exist, but I want something more class/rpg oriented... maybe more interactable. Anyway... just me being hopeful/grumbly.
I’m reminded that they’ve been developing this game for OVER 6yrs and Bethesda has a gang of folks working on this - yes, it’ll have its initial bugs, but I’m cautiously optimistic this’ll live up to the hype
Almost 4 years of full development and 2-3 years of pre-production actually. Bethesda can only accommodate their full work on one project at a time and this is why elder scrolls 6 is so far away. Starfield went into full development after fallout 76 and elder scoll 6 will go into full development after starfield has been shipped.
@@GRY2048 that was just the brainstorming phase where they went like "what if we made a game in space with x, y and z". Pre-production is when they get a group of veterans and concept artists to picture things together. What's feasible, what's not, how the mechanics are going to reflect on those ideas, how to implement them, etc. Full protection is when they begin implementing those ideas and make it a cohesive game. An example here would be cyberpunk 2077. That game was in its conceptual stage way around 2010. Pre-production around the time Witcher 3 released and after the expansion, full production in late 2016 iirc. Although they later scrapped most of the original ideas when they managed to get Keanu in and wanted to capitalize off from him. Hence why the game was so bad on release. Conceptual and Pre-production phase were wasted in their case.
I really wish this would release on PlayStation because this game actually looks really fun. I don’t want to have buy an Xbox or build a whole pc to just play this game. I don’t know a lot about game development but I feel like financially adding it to all the platforms would be best but this is coming from just another casual player
I'm betting all of Bethesda's games will come to all consoles eventually just have a year or two of xbox and pc exclusivity basically once the sales don't meet the cost they will put it everywhere and by that time most of the major bugs should be fixed which there games are notorious for
Do a vid comparing it to star citizen and what star citizen could learn and Implement from it. Also explain how it is NOT a Star citizen Killer and why cuz people dont get this point.
It ain't a Star Citizen killer because it is a SOLO experience. And it's gonna achieve the easier way everything that Star Citizen would/n't (supposedly) in decades. Oh, sorry : I just stated that it is a Star Citizen killer, actually... I'll see myself out !
I tried to avoid coverage of this game but Gameranx is calling my name. We (fiancee and I) are beyond excited for this game. I have been waiting for this since the day I picked up our Xbox Series X at launch. I'm expecting bugs, day 1 patches, the usual from Bethesda but I'm still excited.
For an RPG space-shotty I was particularly impressed with that one. Seemed punchy and had weight. Obv the combat itself was underwhelming from the trailer but hopefully it improves or gets fleshed out.
I so hope gameranx can do an entire show on what's happening with ff14 behind the billboard dj house party that won't be a thing. It's getting crazy. 🤗
A Bethesda RPG space adventure with massive explorable areas that includes both planets/moons , interplanetary space, and interstellar travel or star jumps to multiple star systems! I can't wait!
its not the second half of 2023, the gameplay showcase was part of an Xbox event where ALL games shown will release within the next year from the time of the event, meaning that unless a delay takes place Starfield is currently on schedule to release before June 12th 2023. now taking peak release golden zones into account one can safely predict that the target release month is April or May so fans will buy the game and play it during the summer break
I’m getting similar vibes to what I got before Fallout 76 came out… I remember how exciting it was for the previous Elder Scrolls games and Fallout game(minus 76…), we kinda just knew they’d be good. Not so sure anymore… Hope I’m wrong
The modding potential is HUGE. I'm picturing entire planets, or maybe even the full game, kitted out to be Star Trek, or Star Wars, or Aliens or any number of sci fi properties.
I hope Starfield's lore will be deep enough we don't need ST, SW or Aliens lores in it. This would be useless modding, if so. Something new, please, Bethesda !
Some of the environments, especially the more densely packed city environments... give off some Mass Effect vibes, mostly ME2 vibes with places like the Citadel Wards and Omega. I am so there for that. It could just be me pulling at straws
I hope there will be alternative options or easy blueprints for base and ship building, those parts do not interest me and I just want to get on with the RPG side. I literally stopped playing Fallout 4 due to base building when I absolutely loved Fallout 3 and played it through multiple times.
Really? In Fallout 4 you have to do almost no base building unless you follow the Minutemen questline. From what I remember there's only one mission you have to do, but it takes like 30 seconds to get done.
I literally kept on playing Fallout 4 only because of the base building so I guess 2 players are never the same. But when different players get hyped for the same game, it's gotta mean something... good about this game, tho.
I usually just live in the Red Rocket station with minimum modifications, since I find it cozy and I like the idea of squatting in an abandoned building rather than constructing a shack out of junk. That said, I did find the base building surprisingly fun and useful. Once I figured out that stuff stay floating in the air when you remove the supports, I built and entire airship high above Abernathy Farm, with heavy laser turrets firing down on attackers. I also learned that I apparently like working with wires and figuring out how to get electrical stuff to work. I dunno, it's just satisfying.
I'm definitely looking forward to this game a lot I just wish Xbox had a controller with the capabilites as the fantastic ps5 duel shock. The duel shock is a true game changer.
This game looks really cool; I've always had a thing for sci fi oriented games; however, I'm slightly bummed that it won't be coming out on PS4/5. Thank the Gods that I have an excellent gaming rig. I'm optimistic but highly skeptical...this game is offering a lot, and I hope it all pans out.

@Elijah I do. I’m just commenting that that’s the way I prefer this type of game. 😀
It's like Mass Effect meets No Man's Sky
Better hopefully
I really enjoyed both of those games. Imagine.
When it comes to ship building, I could TOTALLY see people making mods for this game that let you build ships like Serenity from Firefly and other TV shows and movies. THAT would be awesome.
@@automaticninjaassaultcat3703 Ayo...??
The modders will just make thomas the train as a ship nose lmao
@Robert Gonzalez and gundams
Razorcrest plzzzzz
@@wunderlichD HELL YES! Lol.
The good thing is that they seem to have learned how to take extra time and delay a game for polish
I feel you, but I'm also quick to forget past mistakes if they make something I like.
This game is exactly what I need at the moment, very excited for this one.
Indeed. But when will it release? Their planned release date of 11/11/2022 was yet another LIE from Todd Howard. o_O
I am so stoked for this. Cannot wait to cash in my sick days 😎
"Sick days" lol that's messed up. Tell me you're American without telling me you're American.
I look forward to finding things to love about this game while others comb the galaxy in search of things to complain about.
I guess you just defined what optimism is compared to pessimism.
I, too, am optimistic about Starfield !
It would be amazing if we could have follower ships, like you could become a mothership and have ships fight for you or with you
I loved the idea of that in the X series of games, but it always became so cumbersome.
If build a FLEET and concur all 1000 planets!!!!!
Mods my friend, mods.
So excited! Hope there are alien races
Doubt it. They will probably be the big reveal at the end of the game, 2001 space odyssey style
Nah, this is grounded SCI-Fi, keep it as it is. I already was disappointed that they showed space crabs and stuff, I wanted for this to be realistic version of the future, no aliens. But whatever, I agree with everything Delrith said about this reveal, empty computer generated maps - the game.
@@TheRealUcanUwill what? Aliens aren’t realistic? You know how big the universe is right, there’s no way there’s NO life besides our human race
@@iimJacKaL I know how big universe is, thats the point. There are probably Billions of alien civilizations, or there was, but the unrealistic part is that Human race will ever be advanced enough to meet even 1 of them.
@@BunnyboyCarrot Doubt it, they said they are making grounded SCI-FI, aliens would straight up ruin it. This will be Firefly style world I imagine.
I better be able to have “Dogmeat” as my companion. Just imagine…. Dogmeat with his own space suit.
I hope the gunplay is decent in this game. Fallout 4 had decent shooting mechanics (I could actually hit enemies without using VATS constantly like in Fallout 3 and New Vegas), so I hope it's going to be another step up. 🤞 Also, really looking forward to the ship building.
Honestly Im terrified of this games release
I honestly am not feeling a lot of the typical initial cynicism i would with the last few BGS games. Im not disillusioned, im aware the possibility is always there, but my gut tells me because this is BGS's big/new I.P, they are probably going "balls to the wall" trying to really make this one something sound and special.
They better have mod support. Mods are what has kept Skyrim and Fallout so relevant, a decade later. No other game has mods like Bethesda games, so that's one thing to be very excited about.
I mean since the game is solely gonna be single player, I imagine as any previous game, will have mod support.
Mod Support = a huge W
I remember playing Fallout 4 full on Mod's enabled.
I want to drive around big futuristic cities like in watch dogs legion and also explore space at the same time!
Gummi Mothership Zeta Black Flag actually looks awesome
There’s also an arrow icon on the perks list. Possible a futuristic crossbow or bow.
@@GRY2048 True. I really hope this game is somehow more modder friendly than even Skyrim, but I doubt it. A man can dream though, right?
Strange that they only showed off "old school" projectile type weapons rather than energy weapons. Fallout 4 had loads of energy and plasma based weapon which suit this game a lot more rather than a double barreled shot gun lol
You missed the laser rifle at the end of the gunplay section? Actually, the 3rd pirate had a laser rifle too.
@@gns942 Ah, so there are a few in the game then, I would have thought they'd put them to the forefront. Cheers
@@Warribo I bet its cause lore-wise laser tech is still fairly new
"Freelancer 1-Alpha, you are clear to land" - This so seems like a spiritual successor.
I'm cautiously excited about this release. Also, I would have preferred 6-10 really fleshed out planets and/or space stations instead of 1000 resources planets. That's just my hot take. I could be wrong in the end.
It wasn’t one or the other. Creating hand crafted areas takes allot longer than the procedural stuff. Apparently their is more than previous games.
You can expect modders to turn a bunch of those procedurally-generated planets into fleshed out ones.
"kid stuff" Really glad you explained that because it didn't seem okay at first
i really like the background and traits, thats the coolest part to me, i really hope theres a LOT of options
I just can’t wait to build the Ebon Hawk or the Millennium Falcon!
I’m gonna build an Elon Musk
Before you all get too excited let me remind you of Fallout 76.
They hyped the hell out of that, and essentially just stopped making the game a third of the way in and tried to tell us that it's what we had been asking for for years.
With a mining laser, I hope that also include a laser as a weapon. So far I have only seen customization projectile weapons.
Starfield is the reason I'm gonna buy a X-box Series X....can't wait to play this! 🙌
Nice....it's a great console
@@apimb1396 Singleplayer wise I'll always be a "Sony guy" (no fan boy!), but for this game I'll gladly make an exception...😅🤘 And yes, X-box is an awesome console indeed. 👌

I just want this game to come out, man. I know patience and “release it when it’s finished” I just feel like I’ve been waiting foreverrrr 😩
I've wanted Bethesda to make a true sci-fi game based on the elderscrolls and fallout systems for a while, so im quite looking forward to this. On the other hand: "It just works."
Will there be a VATS system? And what are the system requirements for PC?
I'm so tentatively hyped for this. Fallout 76 and other let downs from big studios lately has me skeptical, but I can't help but be excited for a new Bethesda game. Even more so for a new Bethesda IP! Please for the love of Todd be good!
If i was u i wouldn’t be so hyped 😂 just dont preorder it watch the vid before u buy, before u buy the game 😂
Tentatively hyped lol. I like that.
Fallout and skyrims bugs are a part of Bethesda culture. Seeing the bugs and then seeing them get fixed. All part of the beast.
Skyrim: You're finally awake.
Starfield: You're finally out of stasis.
@@bruhder5854 I remember hearing that starfield was started around the same time as fallout 4's release?
@@bruhder5854 Ah i see.
@@bruhder5854 meanwhile es6 is still in pre production for more than 4 years lmao
Looks like elite dangerous and no man’s sky had a baby and I’m here for it. Hope Bethesda doesn’t screw out up
Looking forward to starting with “Professor”. Can you say, “Indiana Jones, in space!”
I really wish this would release on PlayStation because this game actually looks really fun. I don’t want to have buy an Xbox or build a whole pc to just play this game. I don’t know a lot about game development but I feel like financially adding it to all the platforms would be best but this is coming from just another casual player
I'm betting all of Bethesda's games will come to all consoles eventually just have a year or two of xbox and pc exclusivity basically once the sales don't meet the cost they will put it everywhere and by that time most of the major bugs should be fixed which there games are notorious for
Xbox has exclusives, PlayStation has exclusives, switch has exclusives, that’s just how it is
@@cardmossdn8058 sadly how it is

I think games like starfeild will be the future of gaming
Damn, I really hoped the flying was like No Man's sky
For an RPG space-shotty I was particularly impressed with that one. Seemed punchy and had weight. Obv the combat itself was underwhelming from the trailer but hopefully it improves or gets fleshed out.
I so hope gameranx can do an entire show on what's happening with ff14 behind the billboard dj house party that won't be a thing. It's getting crazy. 🤗
A Bethesda RPG space adventure with massive explorable areas that includes both planets/moons , interplanetary space, and interstellar travel or star jumps to multiple star systems! I can't wait!
I’m going to try and make mines and outposts all in one solar system so I have a steady flow of resources coming into one home base
Look, let's all just cheers to a hopefully great game. Not pre-order too hard and hope it's a lovely game
its not the second half of 2023, the gameplay showcase was part of an Xbox event where ALL games shown will release within the next year from the time of the event, meaning that unless a delay takes place Starfield is currently on schedule to release before June 12th 2023.
now taking peak release golden zones into account one can safely predict that the target release month is April or May so fans will buy the game and play it during the summer break
Unfortunately for me as an individual, all I need to know is that it’s made by Bethesda and to steer clear of it until 2 years post-release

That’s an insult to mass effect 😹
I’m getting similar vibes to what I got before Fallout 76 came out…
I remember how exciting it was for the previous Elder Scrolls games and Fallout game(minus 76…), we kinda just knew they’d be good. Not so sure anymore…
Hope I’m wrong
Definitely get mass effect and no man’s sky vibes. Was hoping for little of an outer worlds type twist myself
Should be able to dig a underground base or be able to build a basement like part.

Modding the Planets will be awesome! Someone mod me Planet Coruscant,Mustafar,Tatoonie,Kamino,
Endor,Yavin 4, and Geonosis!

Jokes on you, Endor is a moon
@Preston AK I was referring to Coruscant when I said Planet. Yavin 4 and Endor are moons.
First mod dark mode for the blinding UI pages
@@RelativelyBest I totally second you there. It is satisfying and rewarding.
X-Wing and Tie Fighter mods are already in someone's mind

This game looks really cool; I've always had a thing for sci fi oriented games; however, I'm slightly bummed that it won't be coming out on PS4/5. Thank the Gods that I have an excellent gaming rig. I'm optimistic but highly skeptical...this game is offering a lot, and I hope it all pans out.
We all know there's only a "separation between planets and space" because Beth's engine couldn't handle it otherwise. They had to put the Loading Screens somewhere.😂
Would be cool if you could build a base on an orbiting astroid 🤔
I'm really excited for this. I've never played any sci-fi space games before and this seems like something that I would get into.
