If Isaac wasn't picked up by the academy he would've played rugby so he wouldn't of even played AFL, same with Errol, he would've played soccer. Blakey was father-son so he was coming to Sydney regardless, Chad wasn't even an academy pick. Grundy, Adams and Jordon aren't academy either. McLean is from Sandringham, McDonald was drafted from WA, Rowbottom is from Oakleigh, Hayward is from SA, Papley was rookie draft, Florent is from VIC, sure Mills is a graduate from the academy but he hasn't even played this year, Rampe only got drafted at 22, Parker was drafted from Dandenong, McInerney is from Northern Knights, McCartin was national draft, Amartey is from Sandringham, Fox is from Coburg, Melican is from Geelong and Lloyd is from Horsham. So thats only 3 ACADEMY PLAYERS in a team of 22

If they didn't trade off some of those academy draft picks over recent years they'd be a young side like Hawthorn and nth melb and still be going through a development stage. Unlikely they'd be even in finals contention at this stage.
So it's another flaw in the system that they are exposing.
