Just sharing my ideas one of my favorite book series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin. This video may contain spoilers for those of you who are not up to date with the series. That goes for the HBO show and the books.
I'm just speculating and guessing on some ideas that I have on how future events will transpire in the series. Keep in mind however, I know nothing.

Fun fact. There exists similer connections between real trees. Mostly through intertwined roots that send elektrik signals... However its nothing intelligent.
It's more like "pass the food m8"

I thought something similar but it's "The Forest". As in "The children of the forest" isn't a short joke made by the first men, It's one living "many faced" being. And not the only one. "The forest" An Earth god. "The heart of winter" An Ice god behind the others. "R'hllor" A fire god of dragons, and "The drowned god" An ocean god. I think it's all Lovecraft style cosmic horror hidden in plane sight (edit: Oh pretty much the same thing you pointed to in "They who move the pieces" already, just with my take on who's who)

Does anyone remember how in the show, the others were taking human babies, and then their eyes turned blue, others blue. They never touched on any of that as to, what happens or anything. But were they taking them to the tree to sacrifice ?????

    • @hace6521
      @hace6521 5 лет назад +1

Lexa they weren’t just taking human babies, they were claiming their brothers. Craster’s been sacrificing his sons to the Others for decades in order to appease them.

Oh my god, what if the War of the Five Kings was orchestrated as a giant blood sacrifice to the Weirwoods? The Riverlands saw the most fighting, meaning that the lands about the God's Eye and the Isle of Faces was awash in blood. And that blood would seep into the earth the feed the roots that extended out from the Isle of Faces.

I am loving this theory. Everyone says the children are evil but i have never felt that way, they just don't seem that sinister towards humans. I mean blood sacrifice is one thing but there are a lot of interesting traditions involving sacrifice to the gods throughout history.

We never are told the name of the Great Other. Perhaps that is because its name would reveal what the he is.

3,4- Methylenedioxy These are blood trees. They may only need blood sacrifice to survive. If their power is linked to the great other than they could survive the long night. There is a war between fire and ice, Rhollor and Great Other, I'm just trying to figure out where the weirwoods place is in all this.

    • @Cissablack708
      @Cissablack708 7 лет назад +10

Kyle Kolbye yea, and you know the three eyed crow knows all about this. that fucker his hiding way too much shit.
Your comment made me wonder since Euron is called "the crows eye" and blood Raven the three eyed crow, in life was always said to have "a thousand eyes and one"
What if Euron is the "one" eye. You know cause of the whole "the crowd eye" moniker and since he is talks about some dark god he serves. What if he serves the great other and was recruited by the three eyed crow to do the work of the Great Other on planetos, as if to be the Three Eyed Crows legs persay and do things the three eyed crow cannot since he is in a way physically trapped in his layer.
      Hmm...

    • @Kyle-vo9rp

Johnlocked the impala I do think there is symbolism with the crow. Crow symbolises death and we know Euron isn't a good guy. Makes you wonder why in the show he is the three eyed raven instead of crow like in the book. I think there is a good reason for him being a crow in the book.

"Never fear the darkness, Bran." The lord's words were accompanied by a faint rustling of wood and leaf, a slight twisting of his head. I've also always beel suspicious about the wall. What if it was built to lull the humans into a false sense of security? The fist of the first men sounds like a more fitting name for a place to guard against the undead. What if the Others built the wall in a previous winter to either guard against the humans or deceive them in this way. And after countless generations the humans forgot.

Crackpot theory. Could The Silence be made from Weirwood trees? With the red paint to cover blood stains being just blood stains from sacrifices and battles? Maybe that's the reason Melissandre thinks of Bran that he's a servant of The Great Other. In the books he is trained to be the next One Eyed Raven, who lives as a symbiosis between a weirwood tree and a man. To do the bidding of "the old gods". As of now, only two of the religions of Martin's world have some meaning. The Old Gods and R'hllor, manifesting through their accolites. I like very much the lovecraftian things he put in his writings, but I don't think he will extend them in his story. Unfortunely, they are just easter-eggs. I hope I'm wrong, but...

Damn this was a good video. This is a theory rivaling your theory that the Children created the others. And that one was proven to be true. A lot of things make sense suddenly. The weirwood trees want the blood of men, and so they summon "The Others" periodically to shed blood. They make sure to keep just enough humans alive for the next cycle, and even help the humans beat the Others if they need to. They want a periodic struggle forever.

I like the theory of of all the natural disasters were aftershock from creating the Wightwalkers, beings not bound by the laws mortality to turn mans own death & destruction against themselves. The pact was made probably because the Wightwalkers saw no difference between man & the children of the forest, killing indiscriminately. If dragons are fire made flesh, then one could say Wightwalkers are weirwood or the old gods made flesh, all immortal if undisturbed.

Another great video narrated with emotion and expression expertly. Personally I really enjoy these type of videos as opposed to your live streams. The live streams come across as all over the place when discussing topics. Sometimes on your livestreams your guest can take over the narration and they may have opinions and theories that are totally whack. We prefer to listen to you, not some other dude who shows up and takes control of your channel sharing crazy ideas that literally are fucking insane. I mean dont get me wrong, you have some crazy ideas that seem crazy sometimes as well, but for whatever reason your crazy shit is more palatable than your guests.
I think that your content comes sourced primarily from the books? That is good becauseI have to say that while season 7 of the tv show had some truly amazing moments, but at the same time it felt like season 7 was also lacking in something. What that something is, is hard to pin down exactly, but I think it may be lore related? Keep up the good work!
I realize that there is only so much content and available information on some of my favourite topics like Ashai, Stygai, the 5 Forts, Valeria, the greasy black stone, the true north beyond the veil of light, White Walker culture etc. For me I have practically memorized all of the available written content on these subjects, so we can only enter the realm of speculation when it comes to ne video content on these subjects. I am sure that this is a reality that you have also come to grips with yourself, likely on a regular basis; as such, please continue to pump out more content even if it is clearly speculation at this point.
I would love to see more videos on the following topics even though you hav3 already done videos on these topics, sometimes in multiples already:
    Ashai
Stygai - I can’t get enough information on Stygai. What is it, how old is it, what resides there now, has anyone visited and returned alive?
The Lengii and the underworld beneath their feet inhabited by a fallen deity
The greasy black stone cities in the jungle that are abandoned
    The Crypts beneath Winterfell
Ice Dragons and the Shivering Sea stories
The hidden Vale north of the Wall
The True North beyond the curtain of light that shows what is so important up there
    City of the Winged Men
    City of the Bloodless Men
    The Grey Waste
The Giants of Essos, or lack thereof these days
The Great Emporer of the Dawn that ruled for 10k years
    The Bloodstone Emporer
These are all topics you have covered in the past, but I would like to hear them again, perhaps with some new speculation? Your channel is great even if the tv show has lost its way a bit, I can still count on this channel to be based mainly off the book, which is never off the rails like the show.

This is GRRM we are talking about. Of course blood trees are going to act similar to their real equivalents. Martin loves intertwining reality with fantasy and showing that things don't exist could exist just as easily. With that being said, WWTs need mankind to survive because they need mankind to die and give up their blood. Obviously they want to control their food source and not let it run rampant and conquer the world and cut down all the trees, but they want to keep mankind as a stable supply. I think mankind has gotten a little out of hand and sacrifices to the trees have been forgotten and need to be remembered. My biggest questions have to do with, what types of interactions have White Walkers ever had with WWTs... They have never burned them down or used them, they possibly laid out some dead body parts in a sacrificial pattern and let the blood soak into the ground, but idk what that connection may be beyond that.

I Don't think the first war was between the first men and the wierwoods. I think it was between the weirwoods and the black oily stone. the children are the thralls of the weirwoods, and when the first men showed up they started fighting a battle on both sides. The pact the children made with men is when they finally made them realize the bigger picture and they are all on the same side (alive). The weirwoods have been crippled ever since and have been losing the war against the black oily stone. The stone was clever and waited quietly, while the memories of men grew old and forgot about the true threat. Now, he sees the time has come to strike at an unprepared foe, can men figure out what is going on in time to prevent calamity?

These weirDwood trees sure are creepy as fuck, and need to be chopped down. But so is R'hllor. We must not forget that R'hllor too demands sacrifices and King's blood and whatnot. If I were to be sacrificed to some batshit crazy "god", I'd prefer a swift beheading like the one Bran saw in his visions of the past rather than the Inquisition-style burnings Melisandre dishes out. Point is, ALL gods in Planetos need to die.

Planetos needs technology, like right away. Whatever is keeping those people stupid, is seriously fucking humanity. Though, I am willing to believe that they did have technology at some point. I wouldn't be surprised to find out The Wall is filled with machines pumping seawater to be frozen. Isn't it a fact, The Wall is bigger now then it used to be?

The Weirwood trees and the Children of the Forest all sounds very, very similar to the Pequeninos ("Little Ones") and their relationship with the Mother/Father/Brother Trees from the Ender's Game book series. So many similarities, that I wonder if GRRM was inspired by that series. The Pequeninos are even mutated by a virus-carrying asteroid that a more powerful alien species sent out to reform/terraform planets, that sort of ties back into some of the Oily Black Stone theories. And I vaguely recall GRRM having praised Orson Scott Card way back in the 90's. Though clearly OSC has very negative views on the GOT show itself (Hence that whole "Cousin Orson" story).

what if the opposite is true? not that the men didnt feed the trees but fed them too much! If the roots are spread throughout westoros then surely they would have feasted with the crows on men. So many wars and battles have been fought in westoros! The gallons of blood spilled into the earth must be enormous at this point in the story, especially after the wars of the 5 kings. The riverlands is soaked in blood and there are still wierwoods in the riverlands. Maybe now that the wierwoods are supercharged, the children of the forest can exact there revenge on humanity!

I've read only up to the third book (cause of school and whatnot) and I've only been able to find time to watch the show, and boy am I increasingly disappointed in the show as I watch more of your videos. I kind of knew the jig was up since season 5, but I'm in too deep to not watch till the end unfortunately. But that won't stop me from finishing the books after college. Easily the best aspect of this universe is its uniquely dark and Lovecraftian fantasy. I'm no fan of Lovecraft as a person, but his writings are some of the most fascinating and macabre in history. Although I don't totally enjoy Lovecraft's cosmic nihilism (since removing the agency behind human evil and giving it to a cosmic being is sometimes cheap in my opinion, but I agree that humans are insignificant in the grand scheme of things), you can appreciate how masterful and thoughtful Lovecraftian horror can be, especially the way Martin injects it into this series. It's just depressing how much lost potential the show has. If they maybe made it an animated series instead of a high budget live action blockbuster series, I think they could pull off introducing these aspects of the story better than this current adaption.

What if bran is the reason blood sacrifice to the old gods stopped? Think about it he looks at his dad through the eyes of the weirwood and says father and ned stark clearly heard him and theon heard him as well in fact bran is the one who reminds him his name is indeed theon... When bran saw that blood sacrifice through the eyes of the weirwood I think he said something about it like "no don't" something like that anyway and those people would've heard him as everyone else has (ned stark, theon and Jon)
