Today is 11 years since Michael left us. I remember that day, June 25, 2009 so clear. I woke up and my friend Vsevolod Guzov just messaged me about Michael's death. During the whole that day I felt weird. All Michael's fans felt weird that day. Like you loss somebody of your relatives or something like that. Really weird because even you are a fan of him he's not your blood brother or cousin or whoever else. But why we felt this way? Music. The power of music. His music. His singing. His dancing. I still feel Michael's music as something totally organic for me. Like it's part of me even physically, like it's my hand or my head. An I feel every emotion of each his note, of each his move. And each one Michael's fan feels the same, I'm sure.

This is probably my 2nd favorite MJ song after 'Remember the Time'. But where I love 'Remember the Time' because of the songwriting more than the production, I love 'Heartbreaker' because of the production more than the songwriting. You kicked major ass with 'Remember the Time'. I think that Teddy Riley would love your version, and I consider it one of the best covers EVER - any song by any artist. But Rodney Jerkins put so much imagination into 'Heartbreaker', it's a mind-blowing Tour De Force. This is the only VS cover that, in my opinion, falls short of the original. It's still great, but the Jerkins version stands alone. Thanks, Valeriy! Keep pushing

Valeriy Stepanov is for me the most compact musician, arranger, composer, multi-instrumentalist, sound designer, sound engineer, and meanwhile video editor and singer in one person these days, who shares his works with us! Of course we are also impressed by Jacob Collier, Cory Henry, Snarky Puppy, Dirty Loops and many, many others, but these are bands that now have an industry in the background. And Valeriy, his think tank and workshop are his small home studio in his Moscow apartment. Val has so much spirit, feeling and an incredible musical understanding, he is also a gifted pianist and keyboarder, where his right hand is probably the sharpest and grooviest thing a semi-weighted keyboard has ever felt or experienced;-) His very much too soulful and unique solo melodies peppered with the best pitch bending I've ever heard and experienced with a keyboard. Again, Val goes into the studio and pulls out a top song "all by himself", only Jacob Collier, Abelman or maybe Luis Cole can do that, but never one of Dirty Loops Snarky Puppy, Cory Henry alone, you can't ignore that here to let. And when it comes to funky fusion pop grooving and keyboard layer sound design, he's in his own league for me, nobody from the new generation comes close to him at the moment. And one thing is very important for me, Val reaches my emotions with his music, which I can't say about Dirty Loops, for example. I don't want to make any comparisons or a race between all the gifted musicians and bands here, but I've been listening to jazz, funk, soul, fusion and, since the late 80's, electronic music for around 40 years now, but nothing has really bothered me in the last few years musically touched like Valeriy Stepanov!!! We're all looking forward to you going on a world tour with your band/crew, you've probably already received offers from some of the management. Thank you Val for your incredibly beautiful and impressive music!!!!
