With 7 albums and several featured tracks in movies and television under their belt, Universal Honey is a mainstay in Canada’s music scene.
Universal Honey was formed by the platinum recording artists Johnny Sinclair and Leslie Stanwyck after playing in the Canadian band The Pursuit of Happiness (“I’m an Adult Now”/Chrysalis Records). They recorded two albums with TPOH (both produced by Todd Rundgren), Love Junk achieved Platinum and One Sided Story achieved Gold. During this time Sinclair and Stanwyck started a song writing partnership. To date, Sinclair and Stanwyck have put out an astonishing 7 albums, all as independent artists. USA Today music writer, Ken Barnes, said the UH album “Vicious Circles” contains “Straight forward melodic delights that have been in sadly short supply so far this century.” There have been more than 10 singles which have received air play in the U.S. and Canada. “Just Before Mary Goes”, made it into the Top 40 on CHR in Canada and proliferated college airways. They even won a CASBY award as Favorite New Artists. Professionally, Sinclair and Stanwyck have shared the stage on major U.S. and European tours with the likes of the Goo Goo Dolls, Duran Duran, The Eurythmics and many more. In 2003 they recorded and released a Christmas Album with eleven original tunes which is still receiving rave reviews and airplay in the US, Canada and Europe. RocknRoll Hall of Famer Ronnie Spector covered, “Best Christmas Ever”, for her 2010 Christmas Release. Sinclair & Stanwyck, a prolific and exciting writing duo have also made their mark as credible song writers by having numerous song placements in television shows and movies. In 2020 they started a production house and record label called Honeytunes which helps artists up their game with honing their songwriting and creating top notch recordings with unique and high-quality production. Johnny and Leslie have also embarked on releasing their Universal Honey catalogue to all streaming platforms throughout the 2020 calendar year starting with their critically acclaimed debut album Magic Basement.

Thanks for sharing! This was on YTV's The Breakfast Zone which aired weekday mornings from January 1995 to August 1996. Paul mentions that "Just Before Mary Goes" is on the soundtrack of a new Luke Perry movie (Normal Life), which was released on October 25, 1996.
