    Congrats to Conduit,but I must say that Presious Passions performance was out of this world! Remember this is a 12 furlong race and this hombre went out an cut fractions of 23 flat, 45 flat,1:09 1/5,1:34d 2/5,and the final time was 2:23 3/5! 99.9 % of the horses in the world would have went flat like a cheap tire at the head of the stretch after running at that sprint style pace. Yet PP was headed by conduit,and he came right back at him. I was very of the American Presious Passion,very proud!!

    I love Pressious Passion, he is amazing.
    In my heart, he is the winner! But great win by Conduit, he is amazing too.

    There will never be another P. Passion. His United Nations was out of this world and this race was unbelievable. Remember these were wicked fractions and Conduit was one of the top turf horses in the world. PP battled on once he caught Condui beside him. Amazing...

    My cousin hit this super straight for $200. When Precious Passion ran the first 6 panels in 1:09.24, I thought there was no way he'd hang on for second. A couple of my uncles and I were with him, you would have thought we all hit this thing when they crossed the finish. We were going crazy. One of the great memories racing has given me.

    PP is such a great horse, he ran suicidal fractions and still managed to rally for a very game second to one of Britain's best horses. I really hope PP keeps going, because I think he is a really great horse.

  • @leesog3203
    @leesog3203 8 лет назад +2

    I wish Sea the Stars ran in this race.. He might have been rated higher than 140, maybe around 144.. And his legacy would have been known the world over.. He would have won easily too.. 5-10 lengths.. and set the record in the process, no doubt..

    • @leesog3203
      @leesog3203 8 лет назад +1

      Christy Dolan Of course! :) ..I think he was right to retire him as well, but it's the handicappers who wanted to see him race abroad as they said he would gain a higher rating. 140 though, that's amazing as it is! He could be a 144 horse or even higher but I'm pretty content with 140.. some may even say it's too high but I think it's a reflection of not just what he did on the track, but also his potential; 140 puts him equal to Dancing Brave and Dubai Millennium.
      Your Lasix arguement is a wise one, but after watching this race again, I can totally visualize what STS would have done to Conduit; I honestly can't see how he loses. But it's horse racing and weird things happen. However, with Golden Horn, the ground at Keeneland was pretty disgraceful and the Euro's just never handled it; it was too deep.
      But that is true about Arc winners, for some reason they don't seem to do much next time out, whether it's America or the Japan Cup. Maybe the Arc takes a lot out of them, but also, every track is different and it never fails to amaze me how horses act so differently, even against the same horses, on a different track.
      I think Australia was a wonderful horse who we never got to see the best of. Galileo will be remembered through the ages; his progeny are incredible. But he was awesome on the track as well and we'll never forget the times he went to war with Fantastic Light :)
      Snow Fairy was exceptional! What a marvel of a horse! :) But you're right, STS deserves more acknowledgement.. It's just that Frankel was such a freak, he kind of blurred out the achievements of STS.. but to have two horses rated in the 140's, within 2 years, is just extraordinary and I don't think it's ever been done before. (Unless we go way back, and go to the world stage.. Brigadier Gerard and Secretariat, their 140 ratings where less than a year apart).
      Hey, I suppose Americans and Europeans are always going to favour their own. I personally enjoy both sides, but being from the UK, I have an affinity for Turf :) .. But I know what you mean, I know people who don't care at all for US racing, they think it's mediocre. But I think more people woke up to it this year, with American Pharoah on the scene.. and I'm quick to enlighten people on the wonder filly that is Lady Eli as well! :D
      I'd love to see more of our horses, especially Frankel, contest races in the US on super fast Turf.. I honestly believe all sorts of records will be smashed.. I mean, Imagine if Frankel raced against Excelebration and Wise Dan when Wise ran a super fast time, beating a tired Excelebration 2 lengths.. I think Frankel might have come close to breaking 1:31:00 :)
      Btw, as you can probably tell, I do believe Frankel is the greatest of all time.. (Although as a 3 year old, I'd say Sea Bird was the Greatest.. and Secretariat's not far behind..)
      But I do respect every Champion from every era and I love to learn more about those who where making all the noise when everything was in black and white.. people are ignorant to those days but I suppose you need to be a serious fan to put the time in and discover what the past has to reveal to us :)

      If they did decide to send STS to the breeders cup (thank God they didn't) it would have been for the Classic not the turf and having the temperament and class that he had he would have won it, he will always be my favourite horse and i believe the greatest of all time, his Arc performance was unbelievable and it brought tears to my eyes the way he gave us that extra gear we all knew he had and the only time he showed his hand

    • @GBeret83
      @GBeret83 5 лет назад +1

      @Lee SOG, I think your probably right that Sea The Stars would've won this race easily, but the thing is if he'd come stateside for the Breeders Cup in 2009, there's not a doubt in my mind he would've contested the Breeders Cup Classic on the pro-ride surface against Zenyatta, Gio Ponti, Twice Over, etc....instead of running in the BC Turf, and if I'm not mistaken trainer John Oxx made reference to that once in an interview that had he not been retired after the Arc that the Classic might've been his next target.

    Probably pressed his style a bit much but nevertheless came right back in the stretch with a ton. It took all Conduit could do to pass that horse. Another day we might see a different outcome. The horse was fresh and ready, cudos to the connections for that. Nothing to be ashamed about with that performance. What a horse!!

    @SvendBosanvovski Watch the 2009 UN and you'll see that this was not a suicide ride, this was pure Presious Passion. He opened up 20 in the United Nations and set fast fractions very similar to this and still had enough to hold off a fast closing german bred whose name I cant spell He always goes to the lead and the more he opens up the better chance he has. This is his running style and this is how he does things.

    @GBeret83 He's not anywhere near the class of a Conduit. Yet he dug in like a sonofagun when that far better horse came at him. He's an unrateable speedball some stick to him, and when he's right, a hell of a lot of fight. It's what makes him so much fun and so easy to root for.

    Not taking anything away from his effort in this race, because this was a strong effort from Presious Passion to be able to hold off the entire field save Conduit from the front end. But 4 months later he tried these same tactics again against some of the same horses in this field in the Dubai Sheema Classic and he ended up finishing stone motherless last of 16 that night at Meydan.

    Okay...what did I do to make you so mad. O and just to lt you know I'm not American, I'm Canadian. I wasn't trying to get into an arguement, but I find when ever i say something good about horses over here in America or Canada, The euro's don't seem to be to respectful, Europe has really great horses though,some of the worlds best! But please, don't be disrespectful like that. PP is a great horse.
