    His playing was quite unique; he utilized tha extra range of an 8 string impressively. I really like tha Jazz/Bluesy grooves I heard in his playing.

    Great guitarist. Listened to him for quite a while. That song withthe comb is musth. He plays with vibrators, hose clips. Pkus his sweep picking and tapping are unreal. He has great melody and groove. A lot gypsy influence and exotic scales in his playing along with metal and jazz. He is his own genre

      Aaron Trudeau Which of his songs are more gypsy influenced? I've somehow yet to dig into his material but he's not too bizarre for me these days, hoping it's Gogol Bordello or flamenco style gypsy parts!

    • @aarontrudeau3257
      @aarontrudeau3257 9 лет назад

      Bryce Bruder The one that really sticks out is Caffeine. He does a great rendition of Django's minor swing. The gypsy influence is all thru his music. Awesome, you mentioned Gogol Bordello. Check out The road less Traveled album. Its great. He covers every genre. He has that gypsy excitement and fun to his music. Always leaves a smile on my face listening to him.

      Aaron Trudeau Hehe, glad we could introduce each other to good new music then. I'll check out Caffeine!

      Bryce Bruder I saw gogol last year. Great show. So much energy. My young daughters love the song Start Wearing Purple.

    That comb trick was AWESOME. You should try a hair band just in front of your left fingers to palm mute the notes a little, then they would really pop.

  • @aarontrudeau3257

    For the guy asking about the frets, These are true temperment frets. The guitar is in perfect intonation as you move up and down the fret board because of the placement of the bends. I dont care how well a regular fretted guitar is intonnated it will never be as perfect as a true temperment fret board. Yes you can bend them, you cant bend on fretless guitars.

  • @ManosRK

    What he did there with that piece of plastic was kinda weird but it sounded like tremolo picking on a (power)chord the EASY way!!! Genius :P

  • @nichaju1

    Mattias confirm here again that he is one of the most original and creative player on the guitar scene. Very strange and beautiful at the same time, as usual. Unique style. And it confirms another thing: you cannot buy a tone, it's all in the mind and the fingers. Matthias could play on any gear, it would sound... Well like him! Great guitar with True Temperament fretboard, by the way.

  • @kernunoos

    True Temperament Frets is an interesting concept, alas it is calibrated for a given string length at a certain string gauge and tension thus. Change the material of the strings (say use titanium or a new alloy) , and the tension wil be different, rendering the "true temperament" off tune. Also, notice that pro guitarists who demo TT fretting never use heavy wide left hand vibrato, always a small , discrete and round vibrato, for obvious reasons: it's not made for that type of playing. I'll pass.

    • @darraghtate440
      @darraghtate440 10 лет назад +1

      I doubt he took the idea from Paul Gilbert, it doesn't even sound like he'd be into his stuff. In much the same way that I doubt that Buckethead too his doubletime delay effect from The Edge, who was doing it in the 70's - just because 2 people have a similar idea doesn't mean they were coping each other.

    His technique is so bad, what is he doing with an 8 string.

    • @aidankhoury8139
      @aidankhoury8139 10 лет назад

      ***** I still like the music (minus the comb part) however I do not think he suits an 8 string at all.

    • @aidankhoury8139
      @aidankhoury8139 10 лет назад

      Lol the comments on youtube are always so toxic.

    • @aidankhoury8139
      @aidankhoury8139 10 лет назад

      The thumb shouldn't be over the neck like that. It makes it impossible to play clean and make stretches on an 8. So why would you make such a nasty comment?

    • @vdljnrg
      @vdljnrg 10 лет назад

      Aidan Khoury Frankly that depends on hand size and neck thickness, width and profile not the number of strings (although obviously 8 strings are more sizable). Looking at this, he looks like he's quite comfortable playing this way. Talking about toxic comments, yours isn't much better. You just blindly criticized a guy who could outplay us all with his pinkie on his technique, don't want to get shit on in the comment section? Stop posting opinionated bs as if it's truth above all truths.

    • @aidankhoury8139
      @aidankhoury8139 10 лет назад

      Bitey Thank you for a realistic reply. He is restricting his hand movement, that's my point. Also, I'm entitled to my own opinion, and I enjoy sharing my opinions. The way you perceived my opinion is quite dramatic: "as if it's truth above all truths". I don't know where that came from. I simply stated that his technique is bad because it restricts his playing ability. I'm glad I caused such a storm with my comment though, it got me a lot of views on my own videos! :D And just as a fyi, I never said he was a bad guitarist, he's still awesome.
