This is my second season mowing. I just turned 14 and have already got about five lawns. Most are pretty big but my dad's 48 inch John deer walk behind he bought brand new in the late 90s makes short work of them. I have already bought a Stihl BR 350 backpack blower and a Dewalt 60-volt string trimmer. I have saved up enough money to buy a brand new scag walk behind mower. Just bought a new Certified 22" self propelled push mower. Probably the most powerful mower I have used in the 22'' class. 175cc engine that cuts grass like butter, and its so light I can lift it and push it around like nothing. I'm using an older Chevrolet Astro van. It has 211,000 miles on it but still runs great and a cargo van is so useful. I also do dump runs and small moving jobs lol

Keep it up man, make a few custom bright colored t shirts with your name on it and business cards (vistaprint.com). When i was your age, I would load up a push cart (look on Craigslist for industrial push cart). When the neighbors see you out working the neighborhood and doing good work, they will start hiring you more and more. After one summer of doing it, starting at 13 or so, I had about 10 yards that I did- made bank on leave clean ups also. By 16 had enough saved for a good truck and I was off to the races. Really digging your setup, bud. Having my business implode due to my walk behind going down and going back to an old Toro 22" was humbling. Watching your vids have reinvigorated me and made me wanna give it another go. Thanks for the pick-me-up, bud. Really needed it.
Perfect setup for one person company no need for anything else, the only thing I'll buy is a camper shell it keeps equipment safe from rain and if you need to use the restroom in a hurry if you know what I mean. Lol.
I run a mow crew for a small company, we have like 4-5 people capable of mowing and I'll get one or two guys most days. A good 30 inch push mower and a stihl handhelds are on every trailer. BR600s and a BR700, FS90s, I use a 111RX whip personally. Stuffs great. We use Timemasters though, they are pretty easy to work on, I'm not super mechanically apt but I still get under it and change the self propel belts/adjust them all the time so its easy on the flunkies push mowing. Can't go wrong with a Kombi either. I think the only issue is really scalability and manpower, need those big zero turns to do the big contracts. But the reality is you are still going to get amazing quality with the right tools.
90's john deere stx38 hydro, yard trailer to pull my gas, weedeater, Blower, push mower, and my tools( shovels and rakes) works good for just my neighborhood but i hope to upgrasde in the future.
I wish I had kept things simple like you. My business has become overtly complicated and I’m not sure my pockets are any better for it. I definitely appreciate your perspective and attitude, keep up the good work. Much love from NC.
Much appreciated Ray! I am actually 0% Raza and 50/50 Filipino and White 😅 staying humble is key! Money is neutral as it can bring blessings and curses, the key is to stay true to your values from when you started!
I’m 14 and have a twin brother. We run 2, 22” Mowers. One is a Toro, One is a Lawnboy, We Have 2, Echo SRM-225 Trimmers, A Ryobi Edger, A Echo HC-2020 Hedge Trimmer, and lastly we have a Husqvarna 150BT Backpack Blower, and a Echo PB-580T Backpack Blower.
I have a 30 inch Toro TimeMaster, ECHO SRM-225 string trimmer, and Husqvarna BT-150 backpack blower! I’m a college student and I’ve done this through high school and college as a side hustle.
Noce setup. I used to mow my neighbors yards as a teen. Since 12 years old but never charge them good. They always gave me like $10. But i was happy lol. At 21 years old I worked for a company mowing for a couple months. Now I operate a boom truck and make good money but sometimes I think I could be making more mowing lawns for my own but I don’t know how much to charge. I already have all the tools including truck and trailer. Do you charge based on square foot? How much? And do trees or obstructions in the yard increases the price? Do you charge more if they want to skip mows.
I love your simple setup! That’s exactly how I used to run. Now I’m maintaining about 25-30/day so I run Wright standers, commercial 30s, echo trimmers and stihl everything else.
I’ve been mowing for almost 10 years now started mowing my parents yard. I’m finally wanting to start my own business mowing, Currently I only have a riding mower and weed eater. I live in san antonio texas and where I live the yards are big so the riding is perfect. I need to get a truck so I can hopefully expend out of my neighborhood
Thanks man …i like how you emphasize that the smaller less commercial tools are plenty for regular homes, like the blower and the weedeater ..going to Ace hardware to get me a stihl blower and black and decker edger. Thanks 👍🏼
This is awesome. I've watched your content on and off whenever a vid pops up. Its great that you have maintained the same vibes throughout the entire time. RESPECT
I ran my whole company with a push mower weed walker/edger and back pack blower. Other then mowing and edging then blowing I old school use metal clippers to design bushes anyways they ask. Mulch I put down by hand after placing weed sheets. I buy mulch by the ton. It’s about 40 a ton. Most think it’s by bag which is a profit for me. Also my life has changed for leaf and weed pickup. I for years been using these two things one for each hand that scoops up about 10 times a hand or snow shovel/horse shovel can. They are time shavers. Facts.
Hi from Germany, I start my lawncarebusiness last year with a Honda walkbehind mower (it is really heavy) a multitool from Stihl with trimmer, Hedgestrimmer, I also have a single hedge trimmer from Stihl and a small trailer. I also have some handtools. I am happy with this.
I run the same setup here in Kentucky. I'm so tired of walking those 100 degree days. Seriously considering a stand-on 36 inch. Still gonna keep the bed setup though.
I pretty much have exact same setup but I’m trying to reorganize the bed ,I use a 22”cut toro self propelled and a weed eater ,I work for the water department in my town and I’m trying to take off and do lawn care /plowing and small engines I’m tryin to do what I can right now
I use a Ford Transit mid roof van for my side business. 2 Toro Timemasters, echo trimmer echo backpack blower, ramps from harbor freight. About 16-20 weekly customers. Works great. I am upgrading to new Toro 36 walk behind hydro next month tho.
Im 25 now, when i was around 6 years old up to like 8 or 9 years old, my friends and i used to go around our town and knock on peoples door and ask if they needed any yardwork done.. we made a small great business! Crew of 6 split up in threes and we'd divide our profits
@@Makemoneymowing sorry for the late reply, im a busy guy. In my opinion, its all up to you. 1)Wether youre trying to make a big company that stands behind their name, 2) if youre not tryna be that big keep it around 5 guys max(6withyou), 3) if you wanna keep going lonewolf. Me personally, ive done 2 and 3 i never want to have my own big company cause once you become a legit company prices/qoutes NEED to go up due to the fact of paying your workers, buying more product(weed killer, grass food/vitamins, etc.) Plus the the gas for the company vehicle/s, and most importantly insurance for your employees.
Haha! I see lots of people working that car trunk hustle. It's just levels, the biggest rig truck & trailer you see driving down the road could have started from the trunk or a car with a trailer 😁 look up part-time mowing man on youtube, he was pulling a tiny trailer with his car in the beginning then leveled up!

I'm a tractor trailer driver. Before this I had ONE YARD I did for a friend. He had bad allergies. In about 3 months it spawned to about 7 yards. I was soooo overwhelmed I had to quit because I was getting cold calls from people I've never met for business. I had a craftsman 22", poulan pair leaf blower with trimmer. Making about $400 cash on the weekends. It's good money but labor intensive. My son who's 17 is now getting into it and he has 4 lawns making $135 in one block for 5 hrs of work. He's graduating next year as a P1 journeyman but will have lawns to keep his options diverse. I personally miss it.
I ran my business for about a year, and boy was it a bumping year. I learned exactly what what you have been saying in your videos. Know your worth! I kept my prices to were my customers were happy but I wasn't. That was my downfall. 2021 I will start again and this time around I will make it!
You and me both brother. I started 5 years ago and was only charging people chump change. I started researching what the big dogs were charging and adjusted my prices to make the hustle lucrative. By doing this, I was getting a much better return on my investment.
I'm 61 years old I have about 15 bi-weekly yards five weekly yards they range in price anywhere from 40 to $75 per yard. I prefer a 54inch cut Husqvarna zero turn mower, I have a 21 inch aww drive Husqvarna self for access to small gates for some backyards, I have 2 backpack blowers, 2 weed eaters echoes, 1 Echo attachment trimmer that has a weed eater , edger and hedge trimmer attachment, and a master sport walk behind edger, I have a trailer 6 by 10. Accumulated all this over the years I started my business with my two twin boys when they were 12 years old they are 25 now and have left home so I just kept the business just downsize it to work and handle it by myself.
Good to see your working away . I’m 51 been cutting grass my whole life . 16 years on my own . All four of my kids have worked for me . Right now my two youngest 17, 15. Best feeling in the world working with your kids and teaching them. Keep up the good work!! I’m hoping to do this for many more years
Good stuff man. Good stuff. I worked with a private owner company for a few years. Then I decided to join the military cause it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Currently still in, but my goal one day is to have my own little business just like yours. I’ll definitely be looking out for your videos. Keep them coming!
Great set up. Similar to how I started. My small business consists of a 6x10’ trailer. On it a 3 banger weedeater rack. I carry around 2 toro walk behinds a 22inch and a 30”. I also carry around 42” zero turn for my big lots. And also a hand blower and tool box. I keep trailer in a storage.
You should invest in a mow n go system. Also, there’s numerous companies making stand on 32” zero turns. That would speed you up drastically . Great video man! Good luck this season
You're the second person today to tell me that- and I see those all the time! Do you run one? And definitely, if I could demo a 32 I would be happy to experiment on my yards and see how it helps. I know gravely just came out with a 32 and I believe bobcat has one- I almost bought a worldlawn stander 32 a year back but decided to wait
@@Makemoneymowing the problem is then you need to also carry a trim mower or limit the hills and ditches properties. if you have the money do a kohler swap or buy the new mower much more power
I use to run a lawn care business. Thinking about a set up like yours. Work van for low profile and security. Small lawns only. I think you're on to something. Thanks for the video.
Hey man, so happy i stumbled across your video! I started out my very small lawn business this past Spring to help me pay for my tuition. I’m still new to the game but I want some tips and help from you.
Oh man, you're the CEO compared to me... I Have the 2 x Honda HRX217, Husqvarna 525 string trimmer and a Makita hand held blower (similar to your Stihl but my is 4 stroke)... The only department where I'm leading is the complete battery set from Makita (hedge trimmer, pole hedge trimmer and a pole saw). Oh yes, I also have a small Husky gas chainsaw... But since I'm putting in like 3-4 hours a day, I'm pretty satisfied. My mowers are on their last breath, they'll need a replacement soon. But as far as 21" walk behind mowers go, I'm sticking with my trusty Honda HRX217 It's a beast. Oh yes, I have a small van, not a pick up truck, so I can leave all my tools inside...
Hey man i was gonna see if you could give me some pointers starting I need an income to be able to afford a pc and keep going after and make some good money but I am a kid so I need help with making sure people will trust a kid to not screw it up what are some things you wish you knew when starting and how to start

Lol.
I'm very proud of you Young Man.
I'm a female and trying ...to started my moving business, real soon this had help me out alot
Just starting..all i have is a lawn mower n edger. Just finished my fb business page..
I wish I had kept things simple like you. My business has become overtly complicated and I’m not sure my pockets are any better for it. I definitely appreciate your perspective and attitude, keep up the good work. Much love from NC.
Zachary, your hustle is on point but your awareness is beast mode. Proud of you raza. Keep working hard bro. 🙏🏼 Continued success. Stay humble.
Much appreciated Ray! I am actually 0% Raza and 50/50 Filipino and White 😅 staying humble is key! Money is neutral as it can bring blessings and curses, the key is to stay true to your values from when you started!
Make Money Mowing no way dude. I’m claiming you!
Awesome!! Where are yall located and how many customers you got?
Make Money Mowing Troy, MI.
I have a 30 inch Toro TimeMaster, ECHO SRM-225 string trimmer, and Husqvarna BT-150 backpack blower! I’m a college student and I’ve done this through high school and college as a side hustle.
clean setup! Almost feel that I don’t need a trailer anymore but I’m looking to get a 48 inch mower soon
Only one way to find out- gotta get that 48, then make the decision for if you wanna roll like that or drop the big mower & trailer! 😅
Awesome man! How do you like those Wrights? 😃
Thanks 👍🏼
You’re a beast brother! You’re an ambitious young man and you’re gonna go far!
Thanks French! You are as well
This is awesome. I've watched your content on and off whenever a vid pops up. Its great that you have maintained the same vibes throughout the entire time. RESPECT
I’ve got 1 question. How did you get all your customers?
This guy is on point just get it done cool setup
I love how you are straight up. Hell yeah brother!!!💪🍻
You sir are a stud. Way to go.
I run the same setup here in Kentucky. I'm so tired of walking those 100 degree days. Seriously considering a stand-on 36 inch. Still gonna keep the bed setup though.
I love mowing my lawn, was thinking about doing this for income eventually a full time thing. Simple setup, less worry.
Nice people helping someone else with out anything back and nice job at being your own boss
Basic set up i love it you don't need a 10,000 dollar mower and enclosed trailers to make good money mowing grass
I pretty much have exact same setup but I’m trying to reorganize the bed ,I use a 22”cut toro self propelled and a weed eater ,I work for the water department in my town and I’m trying to take off and do lawn care /plowing and small engines I’m tryin to do what I can right now
Beginning of the legend.
Curious about your weed control and fertilization practices. I need to add that to my repertoire
Thanks sharp dude. Love focus on what works not glitz or sparkle
I use a Ford Transit mid roof van for my side business. 2 Toro Timemasters, echo trimmer echo backpack blower, ramps from harbor freight. About 16-20 weekly customers. Works great. I am upgrading to new Toro 36 walk behind hydro next month tho.
Awesome set up man! Sounds like all you're stuff is safe and secured as you work 😁
Dude I'm impressed. I know you don't need to hear it from me but good for you. Represent for the jardineros.
Thanks man!! Blessings right back atcha
My setup is a 21 inch Honda HRN with a ryobi 760cfm backpack blower and a weed eater curved shaft trimmer
Thank you. Great stuff. Straightforward.
You made all very simple, Bookmarked this video for easy reference later
Im 25 now, when i was around 6 years old up to like 8 or 9 years old, my friends and i used to go around our town and knock on peoples door and ask if they needed any yardwork done.. we made a small great business! Crew of 6 split up in threes and we'd divide our profits
Hell yeah!! Started from the ground up I love it, respect and blessings your way! Got any insights on how to move to the next level with a crew?
Great video. I need to get back into a truck. This whole car trunk life is not a breeze 😂.
@@Makemoneymowing oh definitely I'm going to level up and I know that it's a journey. Personally I just hate customers looks and comments when I tell them that is my work vehicle. But I'm working on my SUV so hopefully by summer it will be up and running. I do pressure washer but going to look into doing mowing and pressure washing.
@@TeamDiamond7 I know it's not easy to disregard them, but life is too short to care what people think about your setup!! Your work will speak for itself when the vehicle is gone. If they won't let you pullup with the hyundai- then they're not the customer for you!! There are 10,000's of new potential customers all around you to try out 🙂 good luck on your pressure washing biz and if you start mowing! Watch Dan's Vlog if you don't already, he has so many good videos on washind driveways, house siding, and fleet trucks and how to make money doing it!
Hey buddy great job out there I definitely need to be like you I have my own equipment but I need to get myself a truck I love the advise you giving out keep up the awesome work 💪👌
Your jefe forsure must be proud , good shit brotha 🙌🏼
Good work continue with your dreams that no one will stop you, it is not easy, the bigger the problems are, but everything has a solution
you are a very great young man great job keep it up
I respect your hustle! Keep it up
Nice and simple...stay humble and great things will come your way.
Thanks so much Road Warrior! Humble is the only way, keep it real always and stay true to yourself 🤙 money is neutral as you can bless others with it, but the love of money is the problem
Good luck brother 👍
You sure got it going there.good work ethic.
Thanks Kelly! Blessings your way as well
I'm a tractor trailer driver.
This what I'm doing when I get my life together
Yes sir!!! Keep it going big dawg. My second year in this business and it's awesome!
Milky Person hell yeah my brother!! Where are you located? Stoked to hear that you are enjoying it 🌱💰🙏
Awesome man. Thanks for the video.
I started off troy bilt mower and a troy bilt trimmer plus a leaf blower
Awesome man! Troy Bilt should sponsor you 😎
I have a zero turn and I have a still and I have a push mower and a backpack blower and for a edger ✌️
West Texas love man......Rick's lawn service!!!
I’m hoping to do this for many more years
I’m doing the exact same thing, got my truck a commercial grade weed eater then a cub cadet 50” deck
nice dude thats all you need you dont need alot to get started and make money nice setup
Great set up! Hopefully we can meet soon. I need help getting my business off the ground.
Shoot me an email man! I'd love to help you out 🙏🏻
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
That's cool do I do it every day in Los Angeles in my 2012 Ridgeline.
Talking like a pro right off the bat
You are the man! Thanks for the video and the inspiration. My brother and I have learned a lot from you with our mowing businesses. Good luck!
Great videos bro I really appreciate them I'm doing my lawns out of a tiny diahatsu, love the videos! Much love from New Zealand
Started my business after watching your videos gonna start making my own now as well :)
Badass Moy! Sounds like a badass setup 😎 Blessings to you and your bi
Yw and hell yeah man a van could be awesome safe and versatile! Let me know if you roll with it
Get your $$$!!! Bro and keep hustling.
Much appreciated!! You as well my guy
Hey man, so happy i stumbled across your video! I started out my very small lawn business this past Spring to help me pay for my tuition. I’m still new to the game but I want some tips and help from you.
Black diamond string is the best. Recently started using it and can’t complain.
Try something commercial it will last u a lot longer.
Great vid. very clear and helpful. Bless you bro
Australia > Toro Recycler 22" rear wheel drive > Honda blower & brushcutter > Ryobi battery edger & hedger (absolute dream equipment). Oh yeah, everything is 4 stroke, no oil mixing.
Badass landscaper shiiiii yah tu sabe
Hey man i was gonna see if you could give me some pointers starting I need an income to be able to afford a pc and keep going after and make some good money but I am a kid so I need help with making sure people will trust a kid to not screw it up what are some things you wish you knew when starting and how to start
