I actually like this better than the current Switch. Having the charging port at the bottom makes charging your switch in handheld mode pretty awkward. It also makes tabletop mode basically impossible.

You don't need a port to link Switches. There are some games that use that feature already. A few Mario party mini games, a piano app and a tank mini game. That said, they could have used it for DS emulation or a remake of Nintendo Land (but it would only work for portable play so I guess they abandoned that idea). Since I mentioned Nintendo Land, I think it was a missed opportunity not to separate some of the games and remake them into an online asymmetrical multiplayer experience. Imagine that Metroid game as an expanded version, or Mario chase and Luigi's mansion.
What interests me is that the Palworld lawsuit is to do with patents, not copyright, even though they could easily nail them for stealing designs from Pokémon. Nintendo found something...
no they could not "nail them" since they didn't steal anything. and this lawsuit probably doesn't hold any ground either since the majority of the patents they made were in *2024* (which btw they made some Disgusting patents) and just want to keep the lawsuit going in order to drain pocket pair's money through legal fees

The fact that people questioned if models were stolen at all is enough to know that they could have been in hot water. As for your other points, you are correct, you can't retroactively sue someone after filing a patent (which by the way, needs to be approved first, "making" or "filing" a patent doesn't automatically mean it's in effect.) Where your likely incorrect is the idea of this just being a stunt to attack Pocketpair. Digimon and Youkai Watch have directly copied Pokémon to greater success than Palworld and did not have any legal action taken against them at all. Furthermore, they would have sued Palworld much earlier instead of conducting an investigation if this were just a petty takedown attempt. They do not care about the bad PR of going after the game while it's still popular.

The Gameboy lasted like 15 years, and the switch was 7, so I wouldn't be shocked if they make another switch style console. Still, it's gonna make less than the switch, and I hate that Nintendo didn't make something new.
