Ha...was out there on Monday....just remember why winter riding at Alafia is easier...have to acclimate to the humidity again....most of the trails are fairly shaded which helps a bit....thnx for the video.
Man we live down in Bonita Springs which isn’t too far south of there. The wife and I are wanting to get into this stuff. It’s great seeing something like this being close to us!
Mr Tonka that sounds epic. Out of curiosity, that phosphate mine area, is that the same place outside of Tampa that also plays host to a great disc golf course on the same property?
Gatorback twice 😱 OMG! ... Now I don't have to ride it, I already went twice in the video with you, LOL 🤣 Cool video, thanks for broadcasting our home trails to the World 🤘😎
I met you at Alafia when you guys were filming in November. I was stoked to have talked to you while we were on roller coaster. I am working on those jumps and hope to improve over the next few months.
Riding here in the winter is the best. As long as we get like one day of rain a week, it stay's pretty sweet! They used sand in the paint which worked well for a while, but feature is super old. No more sand in the paint. haha
was watching Ben Cathro when he investigated Aaron Gwin's wreck this past weekend. That wood there used to be painted with sand but it would wear off like that. They tack down chicken wire now but it didn't go all the way to the edge of the boards.
@@MissingLinkMTB I've experienced the chicken wire at SnowShow bike park. Seems like most of the trail builders her use roofing shingles for the most part. The sand in the paint is rather old technique i guess.
Still one of my favorites out there! By the way, I still have your water bottle 😂 I’ll have it with me out there this weekend if you’re going to be around.
Love them. Just got another set for a hardtail that i'm building. That will be my 3rd set. 1 on the 29er, another on the SB5 and then a set on the hard tail.
I live in PA and in 2 weeks am going to be in the Naples for a few days. Bringing my Yeti SB5.5 down and plan on riding Alafia one day and Markham the other. Any suggestions?
Love that trail!
Loads of fun. Reminds me of riding in Pisgah in the chunky sections.
@@MrTonka id love to go to pisgah soon. I'm thinking I may make the trip this Saturday just to ride gatorback.
@@SuperMsp3 DO IT!! haha
That lower, off camber at 4:45 looks like you could become alligator food. Loving the Trailforks series....
There are many places to become gator food at Alafia. haha (don't look at the swamp, don't look at the swamp) lol Thanks Matt!
Oh man, I remember that trail... so brutal
She's got some punch and chunk!
@@MrTonka I'm afraid I'll wheeze myself to death on Gatorback
@@mattdeso1672 I very nearly did. haha
This channel is so underrated, and a great performance from Mr. Tonka here! Send it!
Thanks for the kind words Clay!
Great video love this mtb park, see and gators on ride
Thanks! It's always fun seeing gators out there, unless they are on the trail and you're going fast. haha
Good stuff man! Us PA boys love a little chunk, its all we got up here!
Yo dude! Next time you're down, we'll hit Alafia for sure!!

Yep, even living here it takes a few weeks to get used to the heat and humidity when summer shows up. :D
@@MrTonka need some rain too many sun exposed areas of the trails are turning into sand pits.
I have ridden in a lot of places, florida riding beats the crap out of me..the coral / cement stuff that lines those trails is brutal!!!
It's unique for sure. Most people think that FL is a breeze to ride.... until they get here. haha
That trail is so brutal
And yet soooo fun! :D
Cool! Glad to see you are still on the Yeti!
Yep, lots of good options out there, just no reason to switch. :)
I totally agree! Will do 95% of most stuff well! Keep rocking it!
Great ride, love seeing Alafia
It's fun putting the local trails on the Tube. haha
Appreciate the the videos joe . Your one of my favorites!
Thanks dude! Appreciate that! I can relate to the "late start MTB" handle . :D
that trail is killer
So much fun!
nice cardio sesh...wow you're a STAR now! Everyone knows The Tonka.
Yeah, we did a lap of all the blues and black and a two pack of all the double blacks that day. This was the last trail of the day, i was spent. haha
@@MrTonka How many miles did you put in? Those drops look like fun!
@@FlowFinderUSA not 100% 20 ish or so.
welcome back hahaha nice trail wew

3 great trail systems in that area. Balm Boyette, Alafia and Carter Rd isn't too far east of Alaifa.
Mr Tonka that sounds epic. Out of curiosity, that phosphate mine area, is that the same place outside of Tampa that also plays host to a great disc golf course on the same property?
So I rode this last time I was there and it was a little above my skill level. I did some hike a bike, and I'm not ashamed. Still had fun.
Yeah man, some of those sections and features are no joke. Camera never does it justice.
@@MrTonka exactly, I hit that first drop and thought I'd be fine, but some of the other features just got me. All good though

We were Pisgah prepping that day. It was a long one. haha
So many people on that trail! Were they all there to see you?
Haha no. not there to see me. That's by far and away the most traffic i've seen on that trail.
I met you at Alafia when you guys were filming in November. I was stoked to have talked to you while we were on roller coaster. I am working on those jumps and hope to improve over the next few months.
Yeah bud, keep working on it! Takes time for us weekend warriors.
Mr Tonka so true
That looks a superb Trail! Great riding.
It's got to be one of the best at Alafia. :)
They need some chicken wire over that wood. Might need a winter getaway to Alafia, especially if we get all the snow like last year.

Great video sir. That place has got some crazy breath taking climbs. Wow. I think that's the most out of breath I've heard you. Ha
Haha. it gets worse. Plus that was the end of a long hot day. lol
@@MrTonka nice. Yea it's been hot here. I'm hoping this isn't showing what it's going to be like all summer.

Gatorback has got to be top 3 at Alafia. Loads of fun. I'm hoping to be out there this weekend. Been two weeks since i've been on a MTB!
I definitely did not ride that trail last year when I was down there! How do you like that MRP Ramp Controller Cartridge in your fork?
It's great! Love simple solutions that work!
@@MrTonka ...and for what they are, they're priced pretty good too!
Mr Tonka,
Been meaning to ask how you liked your Nobl Wheels? Thinking about pulling the trigger on a set very similar to yours.

Gatorback the double black and he’s doing another lap

Yeah! Carter Rd. Santos. Drunken Monkey are all must hits.
Gatorback is different these days, but kind of the same.
haha. little bit different now.
