- Controlling tough weeds like dallisgrass in bermuda, zoysa, centipede and St Augustine lawns can be challenging. In this video, I show you warm season grass in the winter and talk about strategies and herbicides you can use to control these tough grassy weeds in your lawn. Make sure that if you are using a non selective herbicide, that you are following the label and applying to a dormant bermuda lawn. Here is the helpful article reference from NC State. www.turffiles.ncsu.edu/2017/0....
Please remember to wear PPE when applying herbicides.

I've done this in the past with great results. Last year not so much. I spot sprayed with a dye marker included and took pictures. When green up came you could over lay the pictures exactly. Yes there was turf damage. Looked horrible until full heat came and the warm season grass could fully recover.
Good advice. I like Certainty/Celsius combo for the Dallisgrass and usually will take 2 apps. Years ago before I had a good mentor, it can be confusing mixing and spraying chemicals.
What helped me the most is that it isn't how much "water" is applied, it's how much "chemical" per 1,000 s.f. is applied. Along with some good math. Read the label rates. Like you said, that why calibration is important.
Always good Content. Hope you have a safe and prosperous 2021.
@@c_turfgrass7773 Thanks for the tip
Thanks Jason
I was just about to do this to my neighbors lawn. No charge. I specifically didn’t overseed his lawn so we could do this in Winter. My yard is overseeded with perennial rye and I don’t want him getting all willy nilly near it like he has before, so I’ll help him out.
Can i spray round up frist to all the lawn and then an pre emerget
Recommendations for bare spots in yard?
Im curious if you have a video about 2,4d I live up close to Florence just over the state line in MS and have a ton of burweeds. I use a backpack sprayer and this yr i plan to use lazer so I can see where I spray. Trying to figure out if February is to early to treat.
Can I mix Bifen it and Dithiopyr and spray at the same time?
While your lawn videos are always great, i gotta say i love the hair brother.. lol

Ya didn't say anything about 2-4-D is it still a viable chemical to use and approximately at what rate?
Yes, I use it. 2 pints per acre
You just have to be careful on when you are using it. You can kill farm crops a mile or so away by what the wind carrie's. Some states ban 2,4D after certain dates.
@@c_turfgrass7773 you spray 2,4-D on a morning with an inversion and yes, it can drift as far as a mile. Dicamba is another animal altogether. And yea. I’ve sprayed plenty of both, by ground and by air.
Northern Virginia, zenith zoysia fully dormant, is round up ok to spot spray? Thanks

Crab Grass in St Augustine
👍
Gotta love those you tuber thumbnail faces. 😮😯😳😮😧😲😵
Those Broadleaf weeds are my problem! They pop up everywhere
Tedious yes, but try a small rag or chunk of old sponge on the end of a stick. Dip it lightly in your herbicide mix then dab it on the plants. It beats killing surrounding turf.
