My best friend was a big girl, they just gave her extra inches at the elbow and it was enough for her to fit in. She looked so comfortable and at peace. The embalmer did a wonderful job on her.
Just curious. Can you order a European/UK style 6 sided casket here in the US one is wanted? I remember after my grandmother passed and as we exited the church the FD reopened the casket and IIRC removed her glasses as she was headed to the crematorium. I remember thinking, as you usually see a person at a wake propped all up and high in the casket at just how low and sunken into the casket she was which was certainly a different look. I miss them, I was fortunate to have grown up w/both sets of grandparents & a great-grandmother and I was able to have a daughter that the remaining 2 I had were able to hold and see becoming great grandparents in the process.
1:56 oh thank goodness, I am about 6ft 4in tall. I was recently wondering if I was going to fit in the vault of the grave I recently bought for myself.
I didn't even know we could make our own casket! I just looked it up and in Canada - yes, you can. I knew we could make our own urn but not casket, very interesting. You can even have a do-it-yourself kit delivered to your door! Questions I've never had are answered on this channel...thank-you! 🙂
That's a very good question. Can you imagine going to one of those abandoned storage unit auctions, and somebody wins & finds a casket inside. The reason the unit was auctioned was non-payment from the renter. The reason the unit wasn't be paid was the renter died.
Definitely. I’m 53 and have issues with my spine. As a teenager I was a smidgen under 6ft tall. I’m now only 5’10” 😭 (which I know is still pretty tall for a woman!)
Imagine yourself walking thru a cemetery and the ground collapses around you because the casket & body have decomposed. That's one reason for the vault.
My aunt passed away about 6 months ago and I don't know how they put her in a regular sized casket because she was in excess of four hundred pounds and it took so many of us to be pallbearers and the funeral home at the graveside said that we all wouldn't be able to lower her in the ground safely so they brought up the bottom of the steel burial vault and we sat her casket on it and put the dome down on it and they used the small backhoe to raise her up and put her in the grave it was on a hillside also but anyway she looked like she was wedge in the casket and she didn't look good her neck and face was swollen up
Thanks KARI I have never heard this ,it's all very interesting information, you are so awesome at giving us information on all the different questions we have about what happens when we die and about being buried and above having a funeral! Love ❤❤from AKRON, OHIO 😊😊

Beautiful lady with GREAT INFO !

What’s size is biggest casket?
Are there measurement for urns like if we want to make a case for the urn before placing it the grave and what is the largest urn you've seen used?
Depends on the shape of the urn. Most are around 200-220 cubic inches
You would think they would sell the vault and casket as a set. That would avoid a lot of confusion.
FH's sell caskets while cemeteries sell casket vaults.

Some funeral homes sell vaults as well. Convienience.
across vs acrosst ..Kari that's a philly thing
What do you do when a person if they have scoliosis and there hunched ovee
Is there a standard coffin size as well, or are coffins custom designed because of more measurements for all six sides to fit the body?

How high, top to bottom?
If you bought your own casket online where would you store it in a small apartment? Sleep in it hoping the lid doesn't come down?
Put legs on it on none & use as a coffee table

Worst part, as we age our spines tend to hunch over we shrink... that sucks the air out of a party.

@PatsyCollyer my mom went from 5'7" to about 5'4" when she died. Director did a great job with her she looked so comfortable...
Do all cemeteries require a vault? Great videos by the way. Very informative.

The same was true at the funeral for doing an awful job. This would never happen in our funeral homes. Next time, be careful who you use!!
@@jrw5831 I had nothing to do with the funeral home they picked
I'm from Cleveland Ohio and I'm stuck in Florida.
The only thing that makes my day is watching you.!!!!
The first person I thought of was Shaq. Sorry Shaq😢. I'm thinking heceoukd need a bigger one.

I don't remember going to my great uncle's funeral. I was probably away at the time. He was six foot six inches tall.
I've always thought that two feet wide is so narrow. Does an actual coffin give any more elbow room? I'm guessing not??
The mattress in the casket I adjustable, top to bottom.
good to know
Fascinating Kari!!
oh kari you tease... we know youve done it off camera, let us see how lovely you look laid out in that casket ❤️
