Here "damn" isn't an interjection, it's rather a negated verb in the imperative, so it just means "God, don't damn an angel when I die", just in an another phrasing.

@@cognition5133 only English versions so far are this one, Du hast and Amerika. I can't recall any other of their songs that have English version besides few songs like Stripped (which of course is a Depeche Mode cover) and Stirb Nicht Vor Mir (which has both German and English vocals).
