  • Join me as I open two parcels from Le Galeriste in Montreal. They have been collaborating with me to design and produce slow fashion clothing from photos of my fibre artwork. All pieces are produced one at a time by local women in Montreal. The dyes used in the printing are eco-friendly and there is minimal waste.

Actually, the Breaking Open shawl is the new Scarlet Shawl. It actually has sleeves, which I love. (I thought it was a Claudia Shawl when I opened the parcel.)

So lovely! All of them! I’d like to know more about the fabric. The website says only that it is knitted. But what is the fibre?

Thanks so much for taking a look Sandra. If you click on the item (such as the Flow Ava Poncho) and scroll down it gives the fabric. For the poncho it says "Supersoft sweater knit fabric with Heather grey base (95% Polyester, 5% Spandex)". At this point, the fabrics are all synthetic. They are sourced in Canada and printed with eco-friendly dyes.
Le Galeriste has been working on making designs available in natural fabrics, but so far this is what is available. I'm quite pleased with the quality of the fabrics. Some people compare them to the Joseph Ribkoff quality. Hope this helps.
      Thanks again for your interest!
      Warmly,
      Meryl
