1 How did they build these buildings 2 Where are pictures of them pouring the foundations? 3 Why for the love of everything holy would you tear these magnificent buildings down???? Why did they all of a sudden stop building these types of masterpieces? Mainly horse and buggy people could not build those monstrosities, but go ahead and make believe............. They were here before we came along!

Well, one thing that occurs to me is, like most worlds fairs, things were not built to code for permanent construction. Many of the buildings were to be seen not occupied, and certainly wouldn’t hold up to decades, or centuries of weather wear, earthquakes, etc.
The same demolition happened in San Francisco at their Worlds Fair site: thankfully they at least preserved the Palace Of Fine Arts, which has stayed open and active as a place for exhibits, a science discovery museum, and performances & film festivals in the auditorium, and other events.

@@philyb3040 I grew up in a home built with architectural scrap from the 1893 Fair in Hinsdale, a suburb of Chicago. The fair buildings were built to be temporary, and then covered on the outside with a type of plaster and painted white. That is a matter of record. It must have been quit an exhibit to see, especially at night.

The entire complex was solid marble
No, it was not.
Most of it was 'staff', a plaster and plant fiber mixture, applied to wood and steel armatures.

I have a souvenir glass ( for a beverage) from the 1893 worlds fair. It has a woman’s name on it. Rose Connelly was her name.
