It baffles me how short NZ's memory is, for decades Winston has said stuff that not many believed or wrote off as typical Winston blah blah blah but in almost every single time time shows he was bang on the money. Winston needs a much bigger voice in this country.
I am not usually Winston's biggest fan, but he has my attention. Not just the this bizarre renaming of Government departments but how government departments are effectively bullying staff to learn Te Reo regardless if they have any Maori ancestry or not (most do not). It's disgusting how the NZ mainstream media are attacking Winston for voicing what most of us are thinking, and we have become to scared to speak in fear of being labeled racist.

CYFS were instructed 10-15 years ago not to foster 'maori' kids with parkya families as it was 'culturally inappropriate' - this immediately created a situation where CYFS struggled to find decent families with which to place abused children - and would often place kids with extended whanau members who were just as bad..This is the impact, on innocent children, of Maori racist nationalism.

I agree firstly let the child be happy and loved and all their health needs looked after ... if their family is unable to care for them it should not matter what ethnic group the foster parents belong to - only that they are capable of love and will give the child happiness and love - making the child confident and strong.... look at the cases where children have been made to go back to abusive Maori parents only to be tortured and murdered... I can think of several of these tragic cases appearing in the press over the years. The strong and healthy child will always find their culture and roots when they are older and by this time would not be scared by their woeful background as they have seen and experienced opposite.
In the early '90s while training to be a Reg nurse I was told no one can nurse or talk to a Maori patient like a Maori, I was made to feel that I was not good enough to be there for every patient and still feel hurt about that to this day =/
