Thank you for recommending Spinning Silver! I finished it this week and I just can't get over how intelligent all the characters were! I also loved how they found "magic" in the most mundane places, like Wanda learning how to read and figure, and how that opens doors for her. And the magic found in the Jewish blessings was an unexpected twist I absolutely adored!
👓 you mentioned so many of my faves between these two winter videos and some I have not tried! Spinning silver and the Winternight trilogy are 2 of my all time favorites! I am hoping to read some high fantasy this winter like Way of Kings as well as historical fiction like All the Light we Cannot See 😊
I might give into your recommendations and actually read spinning silver, it would not be the first time you recommend a book I feel lukewarm about and then end up loving it (most recently Spin the Dawn) 👓
I purchased The Wolf and the Woodsman on my kindle when it was discounted a few weeks ago, i guess now is the perfect time to read it! Thanks for the awesome recommendations as always! x
It's nice to see that the books you recommend all have the cooler colors of winter. Now that I think of it, just read The sorcerer in the North (book 5 of the Rangers apprentice series) and the spine also has some lightblue. It's fitting to read for winter.
Live in New Zealand so summer at the moment but recently read the priory of the orange tree and the first arc of one piece which I thought were good for the warmer time of year. Might pick up some of these winter ones anyways cause they just seem so good! Thanks for the awesome video :)
Thinking of winter AND a fantasy story inspired by wwi, I have to mention Witchmark by C. L. Polk. And of course, The Left Hand of Darkness has the most interesting winter worldbuilding I've ever read.
Such a great timing. I just bought Spining Silver for Christmas reading. I actually heard of this book before, but never read a summary and then i did. I’m from slavic family as well as have been born and brought up in Lithuania, so when i saw that the kingdom in the book is called Lithvas and then by further researching the autor Naomi Novik found out that her father’s family were Lithuanian Jews, i became even more intrigued.👓
Spinning silver has been on my TBR for so long.. I’m kinda in a reading slump right now, though. But I might pick it up anyways, hopefully it will get me out of it 👓
Spinning Silver is on my list for about a year now, but I keep searching because i want that exact edition and have trouble finding it in Romania. I'll have to order it online apparenly xD
I'm in summer, I'm from Buenos Aires. However, I bought some fantasy books you have mentioned a lot to read during my summer: The Bone Shard Daughter, The Mask of Mirrors and its sequel The Liar's not, Warbreaker by Sanderson and I'm thinking of pre order The Shadow of the Gods in the small paperback edition which is due in January but I was waiting for your review on that one. I also got the 2nd and 3rd books on The Divine Cities trilogy by R J Bennet. I'm decided to get out of my fantasy slump in early 2022 😁
Idk how many people have heard of The Ice Dragon by George RR Martin. It's a short novella about a girl who finds and forms a relationship with an ice dragon. I *think* it takes place in the ASOIAF universe but it has a more fairy tale feel. Its a great little wintery read
Just missed my train 😫 Have to wait about 30 minutes for the next one so this video is perfect to keep me entertained in the meantime :p
Sorry you missed your train, that sucks!
Spinning Silver have one of the best ending lines ever - I was so pissed and I had to laugh at that, it was perfect way to end the book ❤️

I read Spinning Silver last month and loved it
It's summer where I live but I will definitely pick up Little Thieves and The Wolf And The Woodsman. Thank you so much for the recommendations.😁🕶️

Great recs! 🤓👓🕶🥸
I think for a manga/anime recommendation Golden Kamuy is pretty good too
My hubby really enjoys that one!
Great vid !
Great video!
Were the bookshelves deliberately arranged so the background would be winter colours?

@@ebnovels It has great illustrations too!
Spinning silver is so winter that in Spanish the title was translated as "Un mundo helado" which literally means "A frozen world".
