    As an Indian, and an ncc army wing cadet, you will see khaki everywhere. They might be different tones but they're the same sandy brown type colour. Even within the ncc troops khakis have a different tone. For some reason the manufacturers of our khaki uniforms can't match the colour. Either way, youll see khaki uniforms almost everywhere in India. Police, bus drivers, auto drivers, postmen etc.

    What bewilders me is the fact that right after this video I got a recommendation for a video labeled "how to create the khaki color."
    Of course, the thumbnail shows a modicum of respect for what khaki actually is. Because the color on the f***ing thumbnail is, of course, GREEN.

    Khaki is a yellow brown colour which is olive basically

    • @TimSmithWordSmith
      @TimSmithWordSmith  3 года назад

      Interesting. I guess olives do come in brown, but typically when people refer to an olive colour, they’re generally referring to green. Don’t you think?

      @@TimSmithWordSmith no because people in the Mediterranean don't look like green aliens do they? When they say olive skin they mean when it's used as oil in the pan mate

    • @TimSmithWordSmith
      @TimSmithWordSmith  3 года назад

      Interesting take. I hadn’t thought of that. I would suggest that the word is contextual. Green for clothing, brown for skin?

      @@TimSmithWordSmith I was always told it's the olive oil in the bottle and that is where they get the term olive skin

    • @TimSmithWordSmith
      @TimSmithWordSmith  3 года назад

      Again, interesting. The olive oil I’ve bought in the past has always had a green tinge. Maybe we’re buying different olive oils?

    khaki in America and khaki in Europe are not the same. Europe khaki is more to green side whilst US khaki is more to brown side

    You might like to know that there is a very useful breed of laying ducks called Khaki Campbell. They have a washed out colour pattern of mallards , making the ducks a mostly dull brown colour while the drakes are shades of brown and grey. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khaki_Campbell

      Either way, thank you! I shall look forward to a Khaki omelette asap.

    Indeed! I found a great video! Almost all Korean think Khaki color is greenish color. I have a question. I made a video clip about Khaki color on my tiktok account and one said commonwealth countries called "greenish khaki" as a "Khaki". So here is my am question. Does khaki colour remind greenish color to British people? I am confused .. Cause this color is origined in 1846 from Indians uniform and at that time India was belonging to commonwealth countries. Then those countries people should think of it as yellowish rather than green one.

      Thank you for you’re question! You’re right, most British people think that Khaki is a greenish colour. Sometimes the present (the fashion industry) gets in the way of our past. I guess that’s just how language works!
