Documentation on Musical instruments Pawa and Suprawa, This Tribal community called Dhangars who are recognised as Shepherds. Known by the local name Gawli (milkman), they are similar to the Maratha shepherds of Konkan and southern west of Sawantwadi Maharashtra, and northern Karwar Karnataka. They are migrants’ from north and south, and have been living in Goa through generations. Their villages are concentrated in Morlemghor-Vageri complex of the north eastern Sahyadri Mountain in Sattari, while few of them have settled in Ponda and Sanguem talukas in Goa.
