That's what's great about this series. The officers' lack of respect for a man who was *not* trained to be an officer is not entirely without merit. There are ways in which an officer *should* conduct himself, which common soldiers are not taught. Sadly, there were many an officer who did not live up to that standard either. When I was young in my teens my older Brother, mother and father used to watch this. I always wondered why they liked it and didn't think much of it. I started watching it recently and it's one of the best things I've seen. Sadly my mother and brother are both passed and my father has dementia so it reminds me of them too.
I've binge watched every episode 4 times now, maybe upto 5 years between times. Swashbuckling with mostly buckling. Hornblower was good and ive watched them 3 times but it's nowhere as down and dirty as this series. Great characters you get to know.
Yes good description....down and dirty. That also applies to the books. We smell the blood, gunpowder and swear. And even his relationships are so real
It's so good for men and woman. Personally, watching Sharpe walk towards us it great. But....when he walks away.....that uniform still looks really really good. And that smile could melt a cannon barrel down. He's gorgeous and such a man
The cast in Sharpe was fantastic, Major Dunnett, played by Julian Fellows who would later win an Oscar for his screenplay for Gosford Park and create and write a little tv show called Downton Abbey.
I finished CS Forester's Hornblower and O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series, both, and started the Sharpe series recently as a stopgap for well-written Napoleonic war historical fiction. Cool to see there's a television series.
This is why I love RUclips. I've never heard of this show (or the books it's apparently based on) until RUclips randomly recommended it to me. Now I can't stop watching these clips Would love to find full episodes
Even before Vietnam, the officers in green had the sense not to wear rank insignia in case they were spotted by enemy snipers... or recognised by their own troops.
If you love Sharpe and want to watch it all the time, just join the Rifles and get a posting to the Falklands. Without doubt you'll spend most your time on Onion Range watching Sharpe.
And read the books. So we'll research. Sharpe can be very brutal, like the back of an aze. His lousy start to life made him tough. It also taught compassion. The books are so detailed. And he has so many more adventures.
Heh, I finally understand why the South Essex became The Prince of Wales' Own Volunteers, took me this long to notice that major Dunnett is the Prince Regent in disguise 😋
It's OK, the Brits are prepared to share Sharpe to the world. You don't even need to be a British colony. Just enjoy historical dramas, action. Studly blokes and a variety of nice woman.

I read all the books, Sean Bean was perfect for the role.
These clips show up on recommendation... I love it!!
back when the watershed was a thing
Todays childrens programs are worse than the old watershed.
Great characters you get to know.
yeah deifinately, brilliant series both of them.
Yes good description....down and dirty. That also applies to the books. We smell the blood, gunpowder and swear. And even his relationships are so real
This is one of the best shows in history! If you haven't watched it, you should!
I LOVED watching this on satellite...mainly because Sergeant Harper was played by an Irishman.
My English friend Dave on Xbox I met on battlefront 2 recommended me this show. My lady and I been binge watching since 🤙🏼
It's so good for men and woman. Personally, watching Sharpe walk towards us it great. But....when he walks away.....that uniform still looks really really good. And that smile could melt a cannon barrel down. He's gorgeous and such a man
The major played the Prince of Wales later in the series.
Save the Wales
Julian Fellowes...He wrote Downtown Abbey.
That's why the Prince thinks he was with Sharpe that day!
I loved watching sharp back int day 💂
Yet another absolutely brilliant Sean Bean role, I never heard of this show. Maybe I have but was too young, definitely would have watched it.
In it’s time I was the best thing on tv, now I have the whole series and films on dvd
The cast in Sharpe was fantastic, Major Dunnett, played by Julian Fellows who would later win an Oscar for his screenplay for Gosford Park and create and write a little tv show called Downton Abbey.
I just discovered this in my recommendations. Subbed.
For a Scots/Irish actor born in England he definitely was channeling his ancestors for this memorable role and beloved Character. Huzzah!
Being assigned to a mission with the prince regent in disguise, now that's soldiering.
I finished CS Forester's Hornblower and O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series, both, and started the Sharpe series recently as a stopgap for well-written Napoleonic war historical fiction. Cool to see there's a television series.
"Top of the mornin' Harper!" *punches him in the nuts*
This is why I love RUclips. I've never heard of this show (or the books it's apparently based on) until RUclips randomly recommended it to me. Now I can't stop watching these clips
Would love to find full episodes
I approve of this movie, or show, or channel, or whatever it is.
series
Three 2 hour episodes per series (excluding 25 minutes for commercials through it)
Ye I dig those moving pictures on the screen too
I use to Love ol Sharpey , glad to see hes on utube and Netflix
Everyone in that Squad should be flogged. Twenty lashes in front of the whole Company will teach them a Lesson.
the officers should be flogged for making the common man march around and shoot each-other when they want to be boozing and napping.
Self flagellation is more efficient.
"If I catch you again, I'll do it meself...but I'll use my bloody huge sword Ice."
Sharpe would never flog his men. Ever. He was whipped in india and it shaped him into a leader who would never do that to his own men.
I prefer the Roman method of decimation.
watched the whole series because of this clip.
what a great show
I never watched this, but watching this clip makes me want to see it. I am a convert, I couldn't stand it when it came out in the 90's
Great show. Forgot 'David Archer' was in it...!
Unlike some, Sharpe definitely had the makings of a varsity athlete.
I watched a few episodes on TV years ago. good series. would love to see it again!
Even before Vietnam, the officers in green had the sense not to wear rank insignia in case they were spotted by enemy snipers... or recognised by their own troops.
I thought I managed to beat my addiction, yet here I am again, binging all of those clips.
Back in HS I used to stay up til 2am on mondays to watch this on the history channel.
Call it studying military history
I fricken loved this program when I was a student
Sharpe rose through the ranks to become an officer... That's soldiering
Major Dunnet rose throug the ranks to become Prince Regent... That's princing
If you love Sharpe and want to watch it all the time, just join the Rifles and get a posting to the Falklands. Without doubt you'll spend most your time on Onion Range watching Sharpe.
Brilliant series on a budget, watch it!
RUclips recommending me this for the 1,000th time must have got to me, I started watching the show today. 😂
I think I have watched so much of this series on RUclips I better just watch the entire thing somewhere from the start.
Julian Fellowes. Also won Oscar for Gosford Park script.
has a actor/ writer/ director CV longer than a porn stars cock...
Top of the morning Harper! “Smack”
The common way the irish greet each other.
This looks like a great show, i wish it was available in my country or something. There are very few actors at the level of Sean Bean.
It's OK, the Brits are prepared to share Sharpe to the world. You don't even need to be a British colony. Just enjoy historical dramas, action. Studly blokes and a variety of nice woman.
Hell ya! Was a great show! -Canada
