What would Tom Haverford call Chicken Piccata? Chiccata?
Chicky picky
Chicky Chicky Pichacha
Now I wish I could hear him say that because it feels like something he'd say

Do Mario and Luigi bowser inside story there’s this dish called a cheesy drumstick
The second prep is similar to how I make it. I also enjoy the addition of artichoke hearts, they really soak up the flavor of the sauce and act like little flavor bombs.
That's how the Greek place near me does it. It's amazing.
I’m a firm artichoke in the piccata supporter.
Oh I'm definitely trying that. I love artichoke. You're talking about pickled/marinated artichoke hearts, yeah?
Wow! Definitely adding that to my recipe.
At what point do you add the artichoke hearts
Having watched a bunch of videos on making chicken piccata, this one really hits for me on why you do two versions. Most videos only do one version and it's much harder to parse what's key to the preparation and what's "extra". Getting a solid sense of that makes the whole thing much less difficult to understand.
There's need to be white wine
The amped up version adds little additional effort but with such a great result! Love these Basics with Babish vids.
Used to make this all the time in the restaurant I worked in. One of my favorite foods of all time.
Same here, with veal also.
Is Piccata Italian or American Italian dish?
@@ziglaus Italian american, created in the 1930's
@@dogfellow3848 In Italy something similar is called scaloppina (it's not served with pasta obviously). Piccata is not unheard of but it's a more old-fashioned/regional term.
@@idek7438 Based on what I found online piccata was created when italian immigrant to the U.S had cheap access to meat (particularly veal and chicken), idk for sure though, I just looked it up

Been a while since I've seen something so appetizing on a plate like that, all that work looks like it was worth it in the end.
Picatta is such a simple dish, but so rewarding.
Simple dishes rarely are
@@JDarach not true at all
@@JDarach This is what amateurs don't get. Simple dishes done well are the heart and soul of great cooking. Steakhouses exist because a properly cooked steak, which is a very simple dish, is one of the very best things in the world. Almost every great cuisine can be split into two halves, the rustic simple "peasant" food made simply with simple ingredients and the fussy complicated food of the nobility which was made by professional cooks who had large budgets, staffs and plenty of time to get things done. The most popular food is almost always the peasant side of things. To the point where it can be very hard to even find restaurants that serve the fussy complicated stuff.
@@KenS1267 the best foods in life are simple
I just made chicken piccata for the first time this week, I couldn't believe how delicious it was with so few ingredients.
I will try this for dinner tonight😍😍😍

No, let me ratio you
me too i love food
I have chicken piccata every year for my birthday, which was just over a week ago One extra thing I do not mentioned... adding mushrooms. They soak up the butter and lemon sauce wonderfully.
No. That is not piccata. Throwing whatever you want into it doesn’t make it that recipe - it just makes it a made-up dish.
I had chicken piccata for dinner last night at a favourite restaurant. It looked exactly like this, and tasted exactly as you described. I can't wait to try making this myself.
You should do Marge's Wasabi Wings from The Simpsons. Perfect for the month of March
Yes
I totally agree
Yess
It's spelled "Smarch."
No
I can't hear "chicken piccata" without thinking of Bevis screaming "I AM CORNHOLIO! I NEED PICCATA FOR MY BUNGHOLE!" It is entirely possible I've seen that movie too many times.(edit: spelling)
Been a while since I watched a babish video as soon as it came out. Still feels just as satisfying.
This is my dad’s favorite dish, thanks for doing this video before Father’s Day 😂
Andrew, just picked up the Babish chef and clef knives. Want to say that they are great to work with a great bargain. Thanks for putting together a great product.
I am so glad you did this! We submitted it to your website earlier this week. My wife love this dish and I thought it was super complicated so I never attempted it. Seeing it now I am going to give it a shot this weekend.
Babish has saved me on so many party nights (I've been raised to bring food whenever i visit friends or go to partys!) when I didn't know what to make, tomorrow I'm going to a family get together, making this tonight!!
Great timing on this, making this as a belated Valentine’s Day dinner for my lady who’s never had it before! Thank you as always Babish
Since Tuesday March 1st is National Pancake Day, you could make the Alolan Pancakes Ash & Prof. Kukui ate from Pokemon episode, "Racing to a Big Event"
Or at least ask Alvin to make it
No
The scariest chicken story is called "The Poultrygeist."
😆
I did this for my "Self Care Sunday" dinner. Thank you for the recipe and giving me the confidence that I could make it. It was great!
I never knew this until now but I really do look at white wine as the 'chicken' of wine
Man I don't use capers often but whenever I do I wonder why I don't more.
I AM CORNHOLIO! I NEED PICACA FOR MY BUNGHOLE!!!!
Maybe on any day in March, you make Garlic Guacamole from Hotel Transylvania 2
No
For the chicken my family puts parmesean cheese in the flour mixture. It works out pretty well and it's pretty tasty.
I've done his recipe but with your tweak AND IT'S NEXT LEVEL. Thankyou!!!!!!!
This is literally my favorite dish ever - I make it with my dad and it is “our dish” so it was really nice to see another take on it!
I love to see you make Pizza/Wiener/Taco Taco from Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling

On Tuesday before or after Saint Patrick Day, please make Kanker Burger
No
Piccata?
I am the great cornholio!
Was looking for the "I need picatta for my bunghole" comment, close enough.
i have never seen a single cooking video before im insanely intrigued
I don't recall if I like capers, but that second version looks delicious. That would be a nice breakfast on this cold snowy morning.
How many comments until the Italians (including me) go bonkers over pasta as a side AND chicken? unforgivable… 😂❤️ still love you
Just want to say welcome back Babish and we love what you do, taking a 15 minute trip to the grocery store and teaching people how to make gourmet meals, thank you for everything you doing.
Maybe you can make all of Porky's Buttered Foods that were seen/mentioned in The Looney Tunes Show episode, "Bobcats on Three"
No
Hey Mr Babish, I was wondering if you could show us how to make lemon squares.
This man is gonna have enough security devices to watch over all of New York
You should do Boba/Bubble tea on Basics someday.
Make a note to bake Leaning Tower of Pisa Honeycake from Arthur cartoon after that show ends in February 21st
No
Chicken Picatta is the first dish I learned how to make on my own. I add about two lbs of sliced mushrooms, because they're delicious.
Isn’t that basically chicken Marsala?
@@repulser93 only if he uses Marsala wine instead of white wine and lemon
@@repulser93 I thought the defining quality of Chicken Marsala was the use of Marsala wine.
Make the terrible awful pie from The Help
DUDE I've been trying to nail this for the past 3 weeks or so and it just wasn't hittin right! And then you upload this! Bless you Babish
For a 5 minute video, it showed so much. And looks pretty easy to do both recipes.
I've watched 20 chicken piccata recipes but yours are some of the top content. Go Babs.
I made this the other evening for dinner and this recipe is the best chicken piccata I’ve ever had. It’s one of my favorite dishes.
Not sure if i’d ever see it, but one thing i’d actually love to see is you do an episode with the BBQ Pit Boys. Their methods, proportions, and recipes might seem weird, but wholely molely can they make a dish.
One of my favorite dishes ever, it’s what my dad used to make all the time as a kid. Great job Andrew! Looks fantastic
I NEED PICATA FOR MY BUNGHOLE!
My ex made her version of this and tasted like lemon Pledge, the furniture cleaner. I refused to eat it and she got really upset. In hindsight I think she actually used lemon Pledge, and was trying to poison me. Apart from being a violent pathological liar, she might have been a black widow in learning.
highly disappointed this wasn’t a binging episode, beavis freaking out on the plane about chicken piccata would’ve been perfect for this episode
Contrary to popular believe, chicken wine is NOT wine made from chickens, but rather the preferred alcoholic choice of egg-laying birds
This should have been a binging episode with Beavis and Butthead Do America, make an airline meal.
Still love that the Italian reacts video when he watched your Carbonara video loved the carving fork trick.
Love it! You also have to do the potato mochi from the new Pokémon game Legends Arceus. It’s a surprisingly large part of the plot and setting. Looking forward to it!
Yes absolutely! I would love to learn how to make potato mochi!
You Should do a Series Called Meal Madness, Where You Take Foods That Look Disgusting From Everyone's Favorite Cartoons and Make them Taste Better Than They Are in the Cartoon
Please make Pug Sundaes from Gravity Falls
No
Piccata is better with a mild Italian green olive alongside the capers. I also add both caper and olive brine to the sauce.
I'll definitely be trying this soon because my mouth was watering just watching it!
I don’t think I’ve ever been this early for anything
Please do moa burger from Halo: Reach
Could you also do this with Veal? Would it change any of the preparation? Looks amazing, I never thought to Fry Capers!
100%!
It would be called "Veal Piccata" and is a thing.

The series should rly be Baldi’s Basics
One I've made before, it's simple and delicious. Somewhere in a Community College in Colorado though, a guy is complaining at someone messing with his buttered noodles.....
Thanks for being concise. Great information and you didn’t waste my time.
I'd love to see a Basics video on Stir Fry, I was surprised to find you haven't done one yet!
Huh. So similar to chicken french. Which i don't think you've done an episode on yet. Gotta do it! Garbage plates aren't our only regional dish!
I would like to see babish get a food box e.g gousto etc and then make a different meal with the ingredients
i have an idea
not a film, but maybe you could make the Crusty Seanwich and Galactic Schwaffle from Splatoon 2
I usually make it by going to freshmarket and buying their all in one Kit, but your way is better for impressing my wife. Haha
golden brown meat bits on the pan is not called fond, it is called sucs. the sauce or stock made from the sucs is called fond.
I’ve never enjoyed capers but I’m really excited to try this!
I saw Chicken Piccata, and got so excited that this was gonna be a Beavis and Butthead Do America episode, and then saw Basics in the title and got sad.
I love chicken piccata. It is one of the items if I see it on a menu i will order it
what kind of places have this? Italian or American Italian?
@@ziglaus It's not really an Italian dish, more Italian American. In Italy we have a similar dish to this that's called scaloppina, but obviously it's not served with pasta as a side dish.
Every time I hear of chicken piccata I think of the "this is chicken nuggets" meme and laugh
I really want to try fried capers now
Babish - anything but basic. What a legend.
One of my faves. I've always made the amped-up version, but have never fried the capers before. Will do so from here on in :)
Capers take it just one step up. 🙌
capers are a must for chicken piccata
One of my favorite dishes in heavy rotation. Will do fried capers next time and add lemon slices. It is a perfect dish in simplicity
Can you do a basics with babish on cooking at altitude?
Please do the popular Maltese dish pastizz which is normally filled with ricotta cheese or curried peas
instead of making pasta, i put the chicken and lemon on a pizza and it tasted awesome. Got the idea from Prontos in staten island :)
I often use some white wine or vermouth to deglaze in addition to the stock.
Would love to try this “chicken wine” 😋
This couldve been a office binging, the chicken piccata winners lunch
My dad loves chicken piccata, I've made it before but I definitely wanna try these tricks next time
Literally had this tonight always hits
I was expecting cornholio to show up because the mention of picatta.
Do a BLUEY THEME!! They have an episode where they make a duck cake and you should totally try it! My fam and I love Bluey and we love your channel!
Chicken piccata is special to me because it’s the first dish I ever cooked by myself!
"Piccata! Titicaca!" - Beavis
I love how he just started. Didn’t waste any time.
Thank you so much for this recepi!!
This is my favorite meal. If I could only eat one this for the rest of my life, this would be it.
Babish, how would you make puffed rise, millet, corn, sorghum, etc.....?
Fried capers! Now that sounds like the kind of capers I’ll eat!
"chicken wine" sick naddpod reference bro
I was debating on what to have for my lunch break last night. A restaurant I strongly considered featured chicken piccata on their website. I thought about it but changed my mind.
Then what do you upload 60 seconds ago? I think I've got to try it now.
I needed this 4 days ago! I made chicken piccata for my girlfriend for her bday !
