Just learnt my first song on bass using this :) my fingers have dents in them and I couldn't be more keen for them to callus so it doesn't hurt so much, I'm still in denial I had to cut off my beautiful nails but I'm sooooo happy. I wanted to expand my musical abilities to an instrument, not just voice. I went through all my most played songs on iTunes and realised they all had one thing in common: a prominent or wicked bass line. I figured out pretty quickly this is what I wanted to learn. Now I have a beautiful shortscale Gretsch and after 2 hours of practising, I realised I can actually play to the correct speed with almost no mistakes, and I only got this baby yesterday :). If I get this much progress in a day, I can't wait for what's to come. Cheers for your helpful videos

Never heard the song before but I’m seeing Pixies live next week with my friends and I obviously play the bass so I searched for bass covers on any of Pixies songs and this came up and it’s so simple that I could play it straight off, that’s pretty cool

What's he doing for the X notes to make that quick sound? Sorry, new to the bass and music in general but trying to learn.
they're called ghost notes, and he's lightly covering the strings with his hand so that when he picks it, the string doesn't ring out, instead making a dull staccato noise
