Thank you for your review. We have a Triumph and we were looking at the Ovation as a second backup for when the Triumph is in for service. After watching your video, we decided to get another Triumph. Now we twins. Thank you for the great review and comparison.
Your comparing videos are just what Im needing right now. I have never owned or even used a overlocker/serger before so completely new to it. When I first decided that I wanted to progress with my sewing to using a OL/serger I thought the price range would be around £400/500 having looked at other brand models, but then I came across Babylock and that totally changed the game and price. Anyway I am now looking at both of these models and was wondering what the differences are, and so now I have a good idea but I am still confused in which to go for as money is a massive issue, here in the UK its a £800 difference in price, but that aside can I please ask you which one would you go for ? Sometimes I think it really isn't worth the extra, but then I think I do like the changes. CONFUSED .Thank you Sewjourns for sharing and any advice.
BabyLock no longer makes the Ovation so you’ll need to find one second hand which is fine because they are a great machine but the TRIUMPH is superior in a few areas so I think if you have the budget shop around and compare dealers for the best price and it will last a lifetime
@@sewjourns7128 Thanks for your speedy respond. We can still buy Ovation here with no problem. Sadly there are never any deals, always the same price everywhere.
I know that this is an older video, but I just came across it. Just wanted to comment that you did a fantastic job comparing the two side by side. I only wished that your camera work was a little bit more steady so that the viewers have an easier time watching. Also for the sake of shooting this video, putting the machines right next to each other would have helped since you wouldn't need to wave the camera left to right and back so abruptly. It would have been closer to each other. Just some feedback.
I hope they incorporate features like the improved presser foot height and needle threading, knobs instead of recessed dials, and presser foot lift handle placement on their 4-thread models. Plus, I'd like to see a 5-thread model in the USA. I have a separate cover stitch machine and I love it. I learned a long time ago that I prefer having two separate machines for serging and cover stitch. I also learned that I could care less about having 8-thread capability for day-to-day serging.
You have ot keep in ming it replaces 2 machines... If you sew a lot, both machines need to be of quality or you have a helll of a time trying to work with them... In the USA you have a lots of funding offers with your retailes, I would take the opportunity. Here in France, I do have to dig hard in my savings...
Yes, correct, Most Babylock machines have auto tension. Therefore you do not change the needle tensions at all. You can change the stitch width and length and the tension on the chain stitch when doing coverstitch
You CAN HAVE my firstborn son! I just want to sew for his children!!! I NEED THIS MACHINE!!!! PLEASE! Brilliant video.

Just did the same thing. I sold my Ovation and got a great deal on a second Triumph.
Great review of the differences between machines. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

Thank you for making this comparison, very helpful. Do the cover and chain stitch not have automatic tensions?
The needles are always automatic tension. The chain stitch tensions can be adjusted

Do they both do the cover stitch?

@@sewjourns7128 thank you so much for your answer.
You’re welcome. I’m sorry I did not see this sooner. Somehow I did not get a notification.

John Price thanks much John.
Thankfully when I bought my Triumph at the end of last year, the 29 piece presser feet kit was part of the complimentary bundle.
