  • Although it appears in the video that it does, for those more accustomed to this type of repair, it is not simple and easy. Especially when the breakage looks like one piece has been ripped from another.
In this scenario, there is a major unfavorable situation for carrying out a service that could be much simpler: the fact that there are no flat surfaces or easy contacts for support and fixation between one wood and another.
To ensure stability, some fitting tests were necessary so that the pieces could fit perfectly without changing the angle or leaving gaps between the broken shafts.
The first part of the collage was structured with a support below the headstock to provide support and maintain its natural angle and clamps pressing the parts in order to consolidate a good grip with the arm.
In the second stage, two channels were created to insert new wooden slats to guarantee the support of this more fragile area.
I used wood glue as the main glue, but I also applied epoxy to increase the resistance and super glue for the finish.
During the service I had to deal with several others simultaneously - and that's the reason why there weren't some takes such as the neck shape, finishing, electronics...
After being assembled, the guitar spent more than a month here in the workshop and during this period I was able to test the resistance between the parts. That's when, after several tests and observations, I recorded the "test drive" at the end to close this very dramatic case!
I hope you enjoyed it and take the opportunity to leave some suggestions of what you would like to watch here. Even if it's not about luthiery because I know that most people don't work with that but like to see creative ideas happening or simply learn new things in a Pauleira way!
