    I just bought a 2014 Passat used from my local dodge dealer and to be honest it is the best car I've ever driven. If you see one used at your dealership or you are thinking of getting a newer one I highly recommend it.

      Don't know about the mocking comments but I bought mine because 2/28/14
      137,263 miles. SE w/roof 1.8 EA888
      Gen 3 with 6spd. Tiptronic
      Problems: Recalls only.
      Takata airbag
      Rear main seal
      Headlight adjustment tab
      I dealer service this car with SPECIFIC instructions to the advisors.
      Oil changes 7,500 miles (use BG EPR and BG MOA OIL friction modifier.
      Tire rotations @7,500 miles, maintain 30 psi cold tire pressure.4 wheel alignment after each bed set if tires. Last set of tires, Pirelli P7 Cinturano AS Plus 71, 312 miles even wear
      2 V.W. Transmission services, fluid, screen, pan gasket
      3 brake fluid changes
      Rear brakes lasted 112,412 miles
      Original plugs and coils (yes really)
      Note: Every time an oil change is done, I put a can of BG MOA in the tank when 1/2 tank then top off. This fuel treatment works. Average 40+ mpg at 70 mph in cruise
      PZEV.
      My most reliable car ever by FAR. Had 7 VW's including 2011 GTI w/DSG
      I never beat the car, but finesse the turbo.
      Rock solid and ZERO SQUEAKS or RATTLES still!
      Also owned Toyota, Honda, Saab, Fords
      NOTHING comes close for value and chassis build quality and safety.
      Am I just lucky? Doubt it, this Chattanooga Tennessee made machine has been the best (not most exciting) value I can imagine. Solidity is obvious vs. the tinny quality of the Asian brands IMO. I'm not compensated by V.W.

    The vw guy knew is stuff. Very professional and knowledge. Dave didn't give a review, it was more of a intro to the vehicle. He's fair and will eventually give a more critic video I'm sure. Everman is one of my favorite reviews to watch.

    one thing I like about this VW is that it looks "extruded", like one large solid cohesive block of car. no melted-cheese treatment or swoopy lines made by wind, just a solid complete front-to-back look. I haven't driven one, but it looks like it would drive like it's made from one single solid piece of metal, the way a Mercedes drives.

      I've got a Manual 2013 Turbo Diesel direct injection Passat , it's the most fun I've gotten out of a car in a long time and the the gas mileage is awsome along with the interior, and this guy isn't kidding about the rear leg room, I'm a short guy 5'6" and I can nearly fully extend my legs in the rear seats A 10/10 car

      I think Passat is a likable car but when you say a timeless, simple design makes a great car or something more than ordinary, I must say you must be a VW moron.

    My daughter and I have identical 2014 wolfburg passats. She has the 1.8T, while I have the 2.5. Hers seems to be a little peppier at takeoff, but in mountains, it has to downshift more. I actually get better mileage. Maybe it's the driving habits. I drove from Norton, Va to Dalton Ga, and back often running 80 to 90 mph, and going over 2 mountains, and got 34.1 mpg for the round trip. I couldn't believe it, and checked it against the computer, and it was correct. I had a rabbit manual with the same engine, and it was hard to get 30 mpg, however the gearing on the rabbit was much lower.

    • @76carmel
      @76carmel 10 лет назад

      Remember, when Passat first came to U.S. markets, it did come with 2.0L Turbo from the GLI and GTI as the standard equipment. I think VW was thinking fuel efficiency when they put it the 2.5L Inline-5 as the first engine (base engine of the Jetta & Golf).
      We'll see how this goes, VW sales have slipped a little.

  • @coffeekhan

    Glad to see the 1.8L arrive in the Passat. I strongly encourage VW to keep the clean lines of the external styling . . . there are people who prefer it. Not to say that some of the swoopy, curvy styling of some vehicles isn't attractive. Rather, the Passat presents itself as a more classic sedan. Too bad "simple" inside and out does not equate to higher reliability ratings. Dave, does the turbo require premium fuel?

    • @ETLAARTZ
      @ETLAARTZ 10 лет назад

      It requires Premium fuel and Full synthetic oil, considering it’s lack of reliability it is head scratcher that they went back to it when they replaced it with the 2.0L 16v turbo for just that reason alone. Can it be durable, why sure it can, but it will only be that with well up kept maintenance and even then it is not a sure bet…go on a few VW forums as there are plenty.

    • @willcoonen6027
      @willcoonen6027 10 лет назад +2

      Michael Williams The 1.8 Turbo does not require premium fuel, you are incorrect. Synthetic oil, yes...but 87 octane is fine in the car.

    • @ETLAARTZ
      @ETLAARTZ 10 лет назад

      You can put whatever you want in your car sir. VW says 87 is fine, but I'd rather my engine timing not retarding, because I was being cheap on Gas. That said it also depends on which 1.8t your referring to as some on the fuel cap simply state premium fuel which leaves the guesswork to what you consider to be premium. At the end of the day it's been a far too unreliable high maintenance motor with almost endless Performance Tuning Potential, IMHO. . .

    • @willcoonen6027
      @willcoonen6027 10 лет назад

      And IMHO as a master certified VW salesperson, I'm fairly well qualified to say what I said. You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. This new engine does quite well using 87. Go higher if you wish, but it's simply overkill.

      VW has best reliability and very fast car...VW is built to last forever under avuse in autoban highway....japanese cars are too slow and break right away when you try to go fast and abuse it...japanese car lasts only as long only when you drive slow and carefully....if right care is given, volkswagen is much more reliable and lasts much longer than any japanese cars....the thing is americans dont know how to care for their volkswagen....thats why americans have wrong conception while in all other countries VW is the most selling car by far...
