The Truth About Orgo | Is it that hard or are ppl just dumb | Watch This Before You Take It

- I am a decently smart individual that spends a little too much time watching anime. This video is meant for all the other people who are also smart but not geniuses. For someone who is not a genius, is orgo really that hard or are ppl just dumb. I got an A in both orgo courses, but for one of them the prof made my life very miserable. Tbh, its difficult, requires a lot of time, but your experience will be heavily dictated by how good and nice your professor is. If you want a humorous video that gives some insight into what I think the entire orgo process is like or just want to cry bc ur currently failing, this is the video to watch.
Is it really like learning to ride a bike? It becomes intuitive but the difficulty level is there. It just can be way worse than it needs to be if your professor so chooses.

"that's because for most people, it's the first time they realize it's hard to pass college without studying" i'm taking sort of intro to orgo this semester and i couldn't relate more to this quote
Organic chemistry was all fun and games until the exams 😩
facts
Great!😀I have my first orgo exam tomorrow & based on the practice test I just struggled thru-I agree 100%
🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
28th April 2023 (Friday)...❤
questions were different and invented or old
@@MaddieFishblobhow’d you do? good?
Orgo was seriously this fun, everything really just made sense in my head. I guess it really depends on the person. I was able to visual how the reactions go down, but I know a lot of ppl had trouble with seeing configurations.
at least you said configurations! congrats
This is me in calculus although rn the community college im at doesn’t offer orgo
I'm currently in my masters program for organic and biochemistry and i am indeed dying
My first orgo professor was awful. I had to teach myself EVERYTHING. Wading through dense materials and resources from all over the internet and the library, desperately searching for breadcrumbs that would help me make sense of it all. He wasn’t helpful at all, couldn’t explain things in ways that made sense to the average non-organic chemistry PHD having person. Took it over the summer, so I had to do it all in 4 weeks! Summer also meant very little access to tutors. I was completely on my own. I passed, but feel so scared and unprepared to take Orgo 2. My first orgo 2 lecture was this past week, and I’m terrified.
How did it go???? Or, better said, how is it going???
@@IslemTav I passed :) My semester officially ends on Thursday, but i passed!
@@justkeepbreathing9766 congratulations, that’s my nightmare scenario right there…Ive NEVER had a good teacher except one or two, and I got forcefully moved to another class for one of them. So I already know I’m going to suffer through this when I get to it.
@@justkeepbreathing9766with what? 😑😒
The accuracy of this is shocking.
Gonna be in orgo 2 after a (stress-induced, procrastinating) gap year from orgo 1...RIP
You got this man
I also had a gap between ochem 1 and 2. You got this!! I hope you have a nice professor!!
Love this video lol! You told no lies. There is no substitute for a good orgo professor. I'm one of the only people I know who considered o-chem to be one of my favorite undergrad courses. Physics was the bane of my existence.
I took my class while being in another town and I didn’t do good. Maybe I didnt understand cause it was a lot and I wasnt ready
I self-studied organic chemistry and then took a test on it. It's not hard, you just have to study ahead. Reactions aren't hard and you'll start to visualize it.
How did u self study what material did u use?
If anyone lives in Orange County Professor Dutz and Golden West College is an AMAZING professor.
The organic Chemisty tutor has helped me out so much in AP chem 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🐐🐐🐐
I had a great prof ochem 1 and the class was great for me, it made sense and I kinda liked taking tests and proving my knowledge (ugh what a nerd lol). But I took ochem 2 after a gap (not mention online during a pandemic) and it was hell but I had a super nice professor so that kinda made up for it.
cool
what's your college major?
Holy shit this video is amazing, one of the few "academic" related videos that isn't dogshit
Also I've heard a lot from doctors that they think Orgo was a weed-out class, so you're completely right
I got my first and only F ever in life in organic chemistry 1 at UC Irvine lol. My dream of becoming a MD was crushed so I am now working as a RN :(
You can still be a doctor! It’s never too late to chase your dreams and since you’re already a nurse I’m sure they would love to have you in med school
I don’t think I’m interested in working in the healthcare industry anymore, regardless of what my title is.
@@roberthsu4862 lmaoooo. What made you change that
Bro, this was undoubtedly the most relatable video I have ever laid my eyes on. Currently a junior premed student enrolled in Chem I and let me tell you, its not fun! Completely manageable but extremely unwanted and unnecessary.
In my country we cover that whole stuff in High School. (for jee exam)
And NEET too
Pre med is when they cover our neet jee syllabus
Nice try lying and trying to make yourself look good.
@@xxmemestar69xx82 nah bro he's speaking facts. We do study everything but the syllabus stop at the basics. Dunno where he is but thats what we do in China and Vietnam.
@@AnNguyen-oz6qw he’s acting as if all the material in a regular orgo course is covered in high school. Dude is full of shit.
So I struggled a lot in chem because for some reason I decided to take honors and because of my horrible schedule I only passed my chem classes. however, I am taking organic chem next semester, so this was very helpful. I hope I can do better in ochem. gonna manage my study time and prioritize it more
This makes me so... excited for orgo next semester
Sarcasm, my friend
Returning and am currently in Orgo II. I somehow got good professors and have an A
Love your content Josh. Thanks for cursing through out. It made the video more relatable. I just subscribed. 🙂
I had to drop chemical engineering because "orgo"
Not ashamed at all. After a couple of years, I graduated from Information Systems, which is my true passion.
When I see my filthy rich friends that graduated form chemical eng. on their SUVs They are still waving at me as I am riding my bike.
:)
Altough, I am very happy with the desition to focus on what I like
I mean as long you got what you wanted and got a job I don’t see why and SUV can’t happened to you as well it’s not what you friends drive but if you are happy that’s all that matters :-)
and there is this one exam that is taking my life away cuz it has Orgo as a subject, Feels jealous to see people who can do it so smoothly.
Where was the image of boxed reactions from?? My chart is so messy.
Couple that with physics and you'll feel 30 at 20,
I passed chemistry with a 84% and I’m terrified for Orgo next :( and mind you I worked my butt off to get that B. Score 60% on my pass 3 exams even though I was convinced I did good LOL😅
I studied organic chemistry as well as inorganic chemistry, it was fun actually until exams lol.
I don't know why I did the best and enjoyed Orgo the most out of all the sciences. More than gen chem, bio, physics, etc.
I love orgo 🥰🥰❤️🥰. Feels like a puzzle and I love solving them
Definitely, especially with synthetics
I agree
Haven’t taken orgo 2 but I heard it is harder than 1 so I’m scared
@@mayowaoturoko6462 from my experience that's not the case. Good luck
Organic chem ii is harder in all honesty
They call it the Medical dream crasher for a reason lol.
As a nerd I love orgo especially stereochemistry ❤
Weirdo...
I’m in ORGO 1 NOW AND IM ALMOST DONE ❤
My TA and Professor told us that Organic Chemistry as a second language has a bunch of false information and errors in it.
So… like english?
@@rowanphillips3497 what? the mistakes were not english mistakes they were based in chemistry.
It's painful when we have to learn org.chem. a year before the exam and we have to study everyday if not it's gonna be forget 🙁
We only have 1 sem for all org chem 😭
People need to stop treating learning like a chore, all this shit has a purpose in this world and if more people treated it like that they’d have an easier time digesting the material
I have doubt I like orgo but I'm confused at. Some points in High school it's impossible to understand the meaning of every thing
Should I Just know it for now that how this happens and then after wards try to find the reasoning in university
One'of such topics are reaction of alkyl group with lah,...
Depends on what u wanna go into
@@yugiohforce1 I wanna go into medicine like you sir I Also dream of residency in the States
But I'm choosing to do med school in India
Because it's short about 5 yrs
Less hectic entry Just an entrance exam and we enter medicine
And is free of cost but Competitive
And of great quality of practical education due huge population And case diversity in the hospitals....
But sir I'm obsessed with High school science May be for the fact thats it's probably the last time I'm studying it 😭 .
Im too much into physics at Times I spend about 2 to 3 hrs solving questions From irodov and university physics problem
Due to less IQ
What to do sir please reply you're the only one who can answer my doubt plese help me sir 😭
@@yugiohforce1 in chemistry I study JD Lee and all that
Giving up so much time for these subjects immensely reduces my grades and I just merely paas somehow
I don't study other subjects... 😅
What to do please help me out because the periphery of chemistry is too deep and almost impossible for some High SCHOOLER to know everything in 2 or 1 years...
At times it gets really complex
So please help me taking the decision how should I study 😅
what have i gotten myself into
bruh, we learn this in year 13(17/18 years old) in the UK
bruuuh we learn it in year 10
@@elsreybebee u learn about benzene and phenols in y10? Which country does that?
@@ikmaster1232 i learned about benzene and all this stuff when i was like 16. But i choose a technical high school (because in italy we have three types of high school)
What resources would you recommend for MCAT content review
So no one is gonna comment on how fucking funny Josh is? LOL
I took it three times and failed I think once I got a C but bot sure. Dont know what I did to fail tho. I attended all the google meets and asked questions. I also participated in the laborstories
“50% is how nice your professor is” well one of them is a bad lecturer but the other one has an active title ix case so 💗🤪
I guess we all need a Walter white in our lives
Taking orgo 2 right now and literally everything is accurate lol
Glad that class is over with
Oh yeah. Learning it is definitely like trying to ride a bike. Only if you were riding it uphill with deflated tires, and the bike is on fire, and your trying to shove a cactus up your a$$hole at the same time.
cop this jawn lol
i’m taking ap chem rn and i thought it was hard 😭
i know wiley reaction trees when i see em
Watching this after I failed orgo 1
So yea JEE student I fell all of ya ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
As one by one they switch to business majors 😂😂😂
JIZIM
I am the "smart guy" in the friend group lol. Ochem is kind of easy tbh. I was able to get 99.5 on my first exam and 101 on my second exam. Maybe that's because my professor is nice.
0:32 yes
It is hard
so i did orgo without knowing that's what i was doing and got a good grade? lol
I am a pre-dental student, why do I need to study this bs ):
Inorganic is so much better than organic
who else learning orgo to make drugs
trivial
Can you tell us what that green book is ?
Organic chemistry as a second language
😂😂 if orgo is hard what about inorganic 😂😂
mbn taking covid ochem....
It's so easy. People just love to complain and play victim
