Yeah I like trying out different builds but I don't go beyond vocation, equipment, and skills. Playing the numbers game sucks all the fun out of it for me. I actually think the way stats work is one of the best parts of the game. Instead of putting so much thought into where you are gonna put your next skill point you can concentrate on play style. Min/Max mechanics are fine and can be very enjoyable and satisfying. But DD is just a refreshing change of pace.
my main problem with dragons dogma builds is the fact that you have to level so much that by the time you reach the 200 level mark and can FINALLY play as the class you actually want to play, you've probably finished the game twice and lost all interest to continue
that's only if you want to min max to the actual peak of min-maxingness. you an make a decent build and not min-max to 200. Personally, I stopped a 150. Offline Ur-dragon with pilgrim's charm just levelled me up insanely fast, only 43 hours into my save and haven't even started BBi yet.
I think a big problem is, once you've made it all the way to level 200, what is there even left to do? You spend 100 levels as Mystic Knight, 45 levels as sorcerer, 10 levels as fighter, and only 45 levels as assassin, between Sorcerer and Mystic Knight (having to be careful around level 100 not to accidently go over to level 101) It kinda feels like to play as the best assassin, you have to spend 155 levels worth of the game NOT playing the assassin :/
actually, if you want to survive certain place, bitterblack island for example, it's best to go with a good class that has good equipment otherwise, you'll do little damage and die more faster. If that's what you want, feel free to rage quit. Lol. because its gonna happen.

Thinking of returning to grind my lvl 100 toons up to 200 but i'd better be careful not to level up in the wrong class. I'll play it safe until i remember how the game works and then grind classes between levels. Lol Pure DPS assassin arisen & Pure magic pawn.
About the "magic damage is better" is completely and uterly WRONG! Assassin gets the highest amount of strentgh per level out of all vocations. He does way more damage with a physical damage weapon (aka: Strenght based) The onely use magic damage has for an assassin is for mobs and bosses that has physical damage resistence. Therfor, having a magic weapon at hand is not a bad ide (heavens key daggers for exampel) So whatever you do, don't use weapons with high magic damage unless the mob/boss has high resistence towards physical damage
For Everyone who made an complaint about the boss in the video and it being spoiled you have to realise this game was original made on the XBOX and PS3 meaning there's already going to be spoilers it's been out for 4 years now this video was made in 2012 so don't blame him for spoilers on an old video , Secondly, Why would you look up builds before even running your first playthrough you should play how you want in a blind playthough when you first play the game otherwise you should already have seen the UR dragon boss
What I did was simply max every vocation. By the time I did, I had a good balance of every stat with high attack and magic attack and all the augments. Though my main is a ranger. I can drop about 75% of bosses with one great gamble to a weak spot, or down them with tenfold fury barrages. Rangers are so OP and underrated. XD
Personally, I went Fighter 1-10 with my Assassin build. Then I changed to Warrior 11-100 for the massive health pool. This method yields 40 health per level and 5 points attack strength per level. Then I change to Assassin each time I level up. You just have to keep an eye on your level and your experience and take it into account before you go to into a battle with something or someone who will cause you to level up. You have to make sure you’re at least level 100 before you begin going around fighting massive creatures that grant lots of experience. You have to max out each vocation to unlock all the augments. It’s more effective to put the majority of your stat points into one or the other; either strength or magick. What you lack, whether it’s strength or magick, you enlist the right pawns to make up the difference. This way, you don’t have to worry about building a “balanced” character, and you always have a well-balanced team who’s equipped to fight whatever you’re going up against. However, either you probably already know all this by now or no longer play this game, as this video is now 6 years old. My team: Arisen - Assassin, Main Pawn - Sorcerer, Support Pawns - Mage & Ranger. I leveled up my pawn as a Mage 1-10, then Sorcerer the rest of the way. I’ve found this to be the most effective method for leveling up as well as building the most deadly team for fighting anything that I encounter in the game. If I was going to make a hybrid class build, and when I say that, I mean either Mystic Knight or Magick Archer, I’d still put all my stat points into either strength or magick and use a weapon that’s either heavily magick based or one that’s raw physical damage. Again, one of your pawns (a Mage or Sorcerer) can enchant your weapon with the appropriate spell learned and set. That’s the way I did it, anyway, and it turned out to be quite effective.
Magic for an assassin? Think you made that point a bit too strongly. I'd say, be a fighter until you get the plus 10% damage augment then go warrior until you can get clout (and ferocity) then go assassin and stay there. Simple and powerful. If someone is really interested in mixing magic in there then why play as an assassin at all? Magick Archer would make more sense. Just my two cents.
@@tylersraid1239 Spectres, and Assassin doesn't need a super high magick to kill them fast. any Holy Enchantment (such as from a Mage/Sorcerer, or Heavens Key Daggers) melts them pretty much instantly

You do not want magic for a pure melee build. Magic does not effect magic weapons. Only the weapon stats effect the damage. Only raise magic stat if you plan on playing sourcerer, mage, magic archer or mystic night.

Guys, this guide is outdated and was written before BBI, it's just stupid to complain or follow it now. The best daggers are Framae blades(which was not available at the time) not heaven's key and it is purely strength so wasting 45 levels on sorcerer and 50 levels on mystic knight is just terrible. I have one complaint why does RUclips suggest this video now especially when the game has been released on PC and many people are pointed to the wrong video.
When I started the game as a Strider I changed my vocation to Assassin as-soon-as I got to the capital. I experimented with it (I really loved he diversity in the weapons) and I found that my personal favorite is a combo of sword and bow. And I am a DAMAGE SOAK, or a PIN CUSHION if you will, I have never had a character take so much damage. Granted my Assassin is currently lvl 47. If you the kind of person who likes to manipulate the battlefield and all you're opponents then sword and bow is 4 u
1-20 fighter 20-35 warrior 35-70 sorcerer 70-200 assassin, good defense, good health, good normal damage and good magic damage, you have to get the augments for those vocation

Current lv.179, I just started playing a assassin, I started as Mage(1-10)(Sorc 10-40)(MK 40-100)(Ranger 100-130) I only swapped to Sin for BBI farming and I must say.... it's insane! I drop Daimon in about secs... I must say you're right, it don't Matter what path you take Sin is so OP without specific build..... I have no Str. Augs no Sin Augs at all and still own. But awesome guide man! Keep it up.
I find going from level 1 to 25 as a fighter. 25 to 50 mystic knight 50 to 75 sorcerer and then from there go assassin. Gives you a nice mix of each stat and also gives you the freedom to swap your augments to suit your playstyle. Great video, subbed. Happy Dogging people.
players should know that there is no WRONG build here, you'll eventually become powerful regardless of the vocation you played. If you feel like your character is weak get the endgame Bitterblack Weapons/Armor/Gear, it's not really that hard farming them. The point is play the game however you want and have fun.
As a assasin, you can easily kill the Dragon in 10 minutes XD I used the Lycan Sight skill with the bow a lot, focus on the heart and BOOM he is defeated. Not just on higher level, even if you first confront the dragon. The Ur-dragon however... man that one is a different story
Hell yeah, you said it poetically. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but this game is great at rewarding you and making you feel like a complete BADASS. Example: Lvl 12 - Chimera = RUN LIKE HELL AND DON'T LOOK BACK. Lvl 25+ - Chimera = Awwww... look at the kitty, goat, snake... thing.
I realize a lot has changed in the 3.5 years since this video was uploaded (August 13th, 2012 - well before the Dark Arisen expansion), and that sucks as some of the information has become a little dated. I created this video primarily for those that had already beat the vanilla game and wanted to try their hand at min/maxing a character. At the end of the day, Dragon's Dogma is best playing whatever the hell vocation you want to play, at whatever time, as the game is very easy. Enjoy the game everyone :D

For best balanced build in dragons dogma do 10 levels in every vocation then decide if you prefer magick or physical vocations most , sorcerer stat growth is highest magic stat and assassin is highest physical strength stat ,I prefer mystic night so I leveled up sorcerer to ∞ it left the character with just over 4000 hp and since its single player game they is no need to play glass canon when a ballanced build allows you to play game plus as any vocation solo with out pawn.

I'm not great with rare/findable weapons in this game, but how do you get the weapons you use for your assassin? I always wanted to be one, but i don't wanna start as one and have no idea that i should find.
as gotokill2 guy told you, stat gain is when you level up, than depending on the class you gain the amount of stats. for M.att sorc has best as it is 5 (to compare mage has 4 and mystic knight 3) vocation level up only affects the skills you can train (passives aka augments can be shared through different classes. hope it helps
because he isnt the last boss he is just an end game boss after you defeat the final boss so it doesnt spoil the story untill you actually finish the game and realize what the ur-dragon is

So i am a level 27 fighter. Is starting at lvl 10 required or can i switch to mage from there. Or it doesn't matter? I've just been fucking steamrolling monsters and leveling up but i didn't even think about changing vocation to now. I kind of just want to make a powerful character and go adventuring with it.
Question to Manufactured Opinion So I played Mage to level 10, and then Sorcerer to level 20, and in the video you said fighter to level 10, and then 45 levels up (55?) as sorcerer. My question is if I should switch to assassin now or go fighter or something? I know you mentioned not starting at mage and then go to sorc 199.

Just a sec man, thanks for this very big inputting clip that let me get better started again after years that I never played that game longer than a view hours. But I like to now very bad and there is some question. Is it really necessary to beginn with an fighter to go with good assassin build at the end? Where is the point of this, I can beginn up to lvl 20 with Strighter and go for up to 10 more lvl with fighter and change again for my 25 lvls of Strighter etc. Sorcer... Assassin. Would there be any difference, I mean, its only about to get some lvls of an class for build with Aguments or not?

I am planning to go with Assassin as my final build but is possible build it in such a way so I can play two classes as my final build? For example, being able to switch between Assassin and Ranger as my final build. Thanks for posting the video.
By the time you're a high level, it almost doesn't matter what class you are (if you have a balanced build). You'll have heaps of stats to match most classes if not all. And in your case, Assassin and Ranger are quite similar so they will have similar builds (for example: you'll want magic attack for your heavens keys, since they both use daggers)
I didn't even read the stats you get. I started as fighter then went to mystic knight since I usually just go assassin. But wasnt really getting into it. So I made mystic archer and beat the game and now lvl 50. and doing assassin. The extra magic stuff sounds good for the daggers. But never been a caster player. melee all the way. Awesome Vid lots of great info now need to think of what to do. Also is there a reason to go without pawns?
I'm new to this game and this seems like good info, but it is confusingly laid out. Also why are you focusing so much on magic attack here but it seemed like less so for the mystic knight. I thought the assassin wasn't a magic focused character, which is also why it has low magic attack/def stats right? I say this because I'm generally not interested in mage type characters so what paths would you recommend for a sword and bow assassin? (this combo because its cool and more versatile w/ranges)
warrior gives health and strength i believe so to max i guess just change between that and the fighter wizard gives magical attack boosts strider and all those classes give boosts to stanima the most this is all from my own play through discovery's so if one class is better in one aspect im not entirely sure
GT-Oldschool The Assassin class itself is best for pure Strength boost. It gives 6 Str and 2 Def per level up to 100, then 3 Str and 1 Def after. Warrior gives 5 Str and 3 Def per level up to 100 and 2 each after. Fighter gives 4 of each to 100 and 1 Str, 3 Def after. Irrespective, the Warrior vocation has some of the best augments in the game... so ... it was worth maxing.
Hey man, I'm going with your balance build for my assassin. I decided to make my main pawn a tank. What do you suggest for a good end-game armor set/weapon for a tank? Might sound silly, but I don't want to go "derp" and would like to go off right, plus I just picked up the game and am still learning.

oof i started with strider without knowing how stat work i guess i will start again from 0 with warrior since i wanna get a good build i was gonna do assasian also playing in dark arise version makes me need a different build? i saw with dark arise now there is a framae blade thats only melee and many say is the best in the game and is pure physical so i wonder if i should do 1-10 warrior and 10-200 assasian or maybe u got a balanced update?
@New PC players, this video is outdated since Dark Arisen DLC. The best weapons for an assassin in the game come from BBI and are pure physical, meaning pure strength builds are incredibly viable.
I wondering - are the magical weapon really best ? Considering you get two damage values that have to stack against two defence values vs one stat that has to stack against one defence value ? Granted, most enemies have lower magic defence than physical defence but let's say that an you still have to get through both.
So you said please don't go mage then sorcerer to assassin.. But unfortunately I'm mage to sorcerer but now i want to play assassin so is it that bad in my case or i can do it anyway and it won't affect that much??
So I just checked the wiki, and it says "physical attacks with enchanted weapons only the magic of the weapon matters, not the wielder's core magic" So this means there's actually no reason to level as a sorcerer right? Okay, I've noticed that a lot of people like to switch classes around a lot just to pick up the different augments from other classes. I'm almost level 40 and I haven't switched from assassin yet. I started out as a strider and went straight for assassin as soon as it was open. I didn't ever plan on switching classes, because, frankly, I like the assassin a lot. Am I crippling/gimping my character in the late game by just remaining pure assassin?
I've been watching this and your mystic knight build video, and I have to say you've helped me alot. I wanted to go mystic knight since I got the game, but I never got past vocation level 3 because my stats sucked dragon balls. So thanks alot and keep it up! :D
No offense man but it doesn't seem like you did your research. Said sin gives highest stamina, it gives highest str. Ranger gives highest stamina. Brought up getting vocation rank but not levels and recommended the lich (1.5k exp per skeleton killed divided across party). Didn't give a heads up on that. Also kept throwing out number of levels per vocation but forgot to mention that the levels you get matter, i.e. you need to get those 45 levels with sorcerer before you hit 100 or your gains get reduced. Have some other qualms but that's just opinion stuff and we're just two different people, that's fine takes all kinds to rock the world. Nonetheless liked the video, liked your style, thanks for the stuff dude. Got a straight assassin to 83 but you bring a good point with the magic weapons, ah well.
Just picked up the game for PS4 and I love it. Watching your videos made me re-think my assassin's build. I was going to stay Assassin from 10 to 100 but now I want more balance. What I was thinking was to go Assassin>Sorceror>Mystic Knight/Magick Archer in that order up to 200 but I am not sure of the intervals to use for the stat growth. Suggestions?

Question about the ur-dragon. Does the generation increase by one every time you defeat him. And if so only when you defeat him directly or whenever anyone whos ever helped you do it also?
I think people give this game a bad rap because of videos like this (no disrespect intended), that show to play a class at 100% effectiveness you NEED to switch classes at certain levels and such. While its true to get maximum maximum efficiency you need to do that, its just as viable to play whatever class you want for however long. Just do what makes you happy, whats fun for YOU. Thats what DD is all about y'all, its about finding what clicks with you. You wanna be a sneaky globe-trotting assassin? Awesome! You want to decimate everything with your powerful arcane sorceries? Nice! You want a mix of the two? That works too! And if none of the classes (and i mean NONE) are interestingto you... then why tf did u buy this kind of game?? If youre even a little into RPGs there's something that will appeal to you with this game. And I mean sure, if you play sorcerer for 198 levels and decide to permanently switch to knight for some god-forsaken reason, then yeah your stats are gonna be alittle disappointing... but doesnt that make sense? If you were a carpenter for most of your life and then suddenly decided to be a lighting designer for some performing arts group you'd be pretty clueless too huh?
Ok so if I don't want to play as a mage or sorcerer and plan on using sword&bow/sometimes shield, would fighter to 10 then go to mystic knight for 50-90 levels before assassin be good? (also while sprinkling a few levels of strider, warrior, and assassin in before 100 because I know I'd get bored and want to change things up for a bit). This way i'm sacrificing some MagAtk&Def from the sorcerer for more even boost in Def and HP while still gaining alright MagAtk&Def
Is it feasible at all to go 1-10 Fighter, than Warrior to 100 and Assassin from there and use Ascalon as your main weapon? I literally just picked Dragon's Dogma and trying to soak in some ideas and magic isn't really seeming all that appealing to me.
Question about the build; Fighter -> Warrior -> Sorcerer -> M. Knight -> Assassin. Why leave Assassin as last? Based on that after 100 your stat gain is not as good.
easy way to dragonforge items imo is drop a rancid bait meat in the garden where you meet the arisen who rarefies 1st time, drop rancid bait by door that requires void key. if you're invaded kill dragon, grab mats, then enter door then go back into garden and a cursed dragon should be there, then rinse and repeat until it doesn't appear then drop another bait meat. it works very well to dragonforge spam items.
SotiCoto Actually, there were the last few rooms of Post-Daimon BBI as well... including that city. Damn thing is practically swarming with Wyverns, and it tends to spawn the undead dragon too...
gongolong Personally, I find that a bit of a moot point. There is plenty of gear to dragonforge, and whether one chooses to grind cursed dragons for it or not, it makes sense to take advantage of a natural opportunity in the normal course of gameplay... right? I mean are you just gonna spawn dragons with bait until you've dragonforged everything, then never set foot on BBI again?
I just started playing and I wonder... why do you have to play 200 lvls as other classes..to get the class you want... and how fast can you lvl your character? Why can't I be an assassin from lvl 1 to 200 ? After lvl 200 is there anything still to do in this game? i mean it's not a mmo.. why do you guys prepare your champs like for after lvl 200 , is something happening after lvl 200?
you're absolutely right - and the game is so easy you don't need to min/max. It's just something fun to do if you already beat the game once. You unlock assassin at level 10 then you can play the whole game as that vocation. No need to switch everything around if you don't want to..nothing happens after you hit lvl 200.
You can use augments from other clases, level a class until you get the desired augment and then switch to whatever you want, another thing into acount is the stats you receive each time you level up depending on the class you are leveling up.
Best to skip to 6:14 for the actual tips. The first 6 minutes is him talking about how he's going to give you tips.

Assassin gets the highest amount of strentgh per level out of all vocations. He does way more damage with a physical damage weapon (aka: Strenght based)
The onely use magic damage has for an assassin is for mobs and bosses that has physical damage resistence. Therfor, having a magic weapon at hand is not a bad ide (heavens key daggers for exampel)
So whatever you do, don't use weapons with high magic damage unless the mob/boss has high resistence towards physical damage

What I did was simply max every vocation. By the time I did, I had a good balance of every stat with high attack and magic attack and all the augments. Though my main is a ranger. I can drop about 75% of bosses with one great gamble to a weak spot, or down them with tenfold fury barrages. Rangers are so OP and underrated. XD
Personally, I went Fighter 1-10 with my Assassin build. Then I changed to Warrior 11-100 for the massive health pool. This method yields 40 health per level and 5 points attack strength per level. Then I change to Assassin each time I level up. You just have to keep an eye on your level and your experience and take it into account before you go to into a battle with something or someone who will cause you to level up. You have to make sure you’re at least level 100 before you begin going around fighting massive creatures that grant lots of experience. You have to max out each vocation to unlock all the augments. It’s more effective to put the majority of your stat points into one or the other; either strength or magick. What you lack, whether it’s strength or magick, you enlist the right pawns to make up the difference. This way, you don’t have to worry about building a “balanced” character, and you always have a well-balanced team who’s equipped to fight whatever you’re going up against. However, either you probably already know all this by now or no longer play this game, as this video is now 6 years old. My team: Arisen - Assassin, Main Pawn - Sorcerer, Support Pawns - Mage & Ranger. I leveled up my pawn as a Mage 1-10, then Sorcerer the rest of the way. I’ve found this to be the most effective method for leveling up as well as building the most deadly team for fighting anything that I encounter in the game. If I was going to make a hybrid class build, and when I say that, I mean either Mystic Knight or Magick Archer, I’d still put all my stat points into either strength or magick and use a weapon that’s either heavily magick based or one that’s raw physical damage. Again, one of your pawns (a Mage or Sorcerer) can enchant your weapon with the appropriate spell learned and set. That’s the way I did it, anyway, and it turned out to be quite effective.
Magic for an assassin? Think you made that point a bit too strongly. I'd say, be a fighter until you get the plus 10% damage augment then go warrior until you can get clout (and ferocity) then go assassin and stay there. Simple and powerful. If someone is really interested in mixing magic in there then why play as an assassin at all? Magick Archer would make more sense. Just my two cents.
Mixing magic in there is good so u can more easily kill wraith and such (dont remember what the hard wraith is called)

@@tylersraid1239 Spectres, and Assassin doesn't need a super high magick to kill them fast. any Holy Enchantment (such as from a Mage/Sorcerer, or Heavens Key Daggers) melts them pretty much instantly

You do not want magic for a pure melee build. Magic does not effect magic weapons. Only the weapon stats effect the damage. Only raise magic stat if you plan on playing sourcerer, mage, magic archer or mystic night.

Guys, this guide is outdated and was written before BBI, it's just stupid to complain or follow it now. The best daggers are Framae blades(which was not available at the time) not heaven's key and it is purely strength so wasting 45 levels on sorcerer and 50 levels on mystic knight is just terrible. I have one complaint why does RUclips suggest this video now especially when the game has been released on PC and many people are pointed to the wrong video.

When I started the game as a Strider I changed my vocation to Assassin as-soon-as I got to the capital. I experimented with it (I really loved he diversity in the weapons) and I found that my personal favorite is a combo of sword and bow. And I am a DAMAGE SOAK, or a PIN CUSHION if you will, I have never had a character take so much damage. Granted my Assassin is currently lvl 47. If you the kind of person who likes to manipulate the battlefield and all you're opponents then sword and bow is 4 u
1-20 fighter 20-35 warrior 35-70 sorcerer 70-200 assassin, good defense, good health, good normal damage and good magic damage, you have to get the augments for those vocation

Current lv.179, I just started playing a assassin, I started as Mage(1-10)(Sorc 10-40)(MK 40-100)(Ranger 100-130) I only swapped to Sin for BBI farming and I must say.... it's insane! I drop Daimon in about secs... I must say you're right, it don't Matter what path you take Sin is so OP without specific build..... I have no Str. Augs no Sin Augs at all and still own. But awesome guide man! Keep it up.
I find going from level 1 to 25 as a fighter. 25 to 50 mystic knight 50 to 75 sorcerer and then from there go assassin. Gives you a nice mix of each stat and also gives you the freedom to swap your augments to suit your playstyle. Great video, subbed.

players should know that there is no WRONG build here, you'll eventually become powerful regardless of the vocation you played. If you feel like your character is weak get the endgame Bitterblack Weapons/Armor/Gear, it's not really that hard farming them. The point is play the game however you want and have fun.
As a assasin, you can easily kill the Dragon in 10 minutes XD
I used the Lycan Sight skill with the bow a lot, focus on the heart and BOOM he is defeated. Not just on higher level, even if you first confront the dragon. The Ur-dragon however... man that one is a different story
Hell yeah, you said it poetically. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but this game is great at rewarding you and making you feel like a complete BADASS. Example: Lvl 12 - Chimera = RUN LIKE HELL AND DON'T LOOK BACK. Lvl 25+ - Chimera = Awwww... look at the kitty, goat, snake... thing.
I realize a lot has changed in the 3.5 years since this video was uploaded (August 13th, 2012 - well before the Dark Arisen expansion), and that sucks as some of the information has become a little dated. I created this video primarily for those that had already beat the vanilla game and wanted to try their hand at min/maxing a character. At the end of the day, Dragon's Dogma is best playing whatever the hell vocation you want to play, at whatever time, as the game is very easy. Enjoy the game everyone :D

For best balanced build in dragons dogma do 10 levels in every vocation then decide if you prefer magick or physical vocations most , sorcerer stat growth is highest magic stat and assassin is highest physical strength stat ,I prefer mystic night so I leveled up sorcerer to ∞ it left the character with just over 4000 hp and since its single player game they is no need to play glass canon when a ballanced build allows you to play game plus as any vocation solo with out pawn.
Just put a port crystal down by the great wall where you wanna kill the skeletons

I'm not great with rare/findable weapons in this game, but how do you get the weapons you use for your assassin? I always wanted to be one, but i don't wanna start as one and have no idea that i should find.
as gotokill2 guy told you, stat gain is when you level up, than depending on the class you gain the amount of stats. for M.att sorc has best as it is 5 (to compare mage has 4 and mystic knight 3) vocation level up only affects the skills you can train (passives aka augments can be shared through different classes.

So i am a level 27 fighter. Is starting at lvl 10 required or can i switch to mage from there. Or it doesn't matter? I've just been fucking steamrolling monsters and leveling up but i didn't even think about changing vocation to now. I kind of just want to make a powerful character and go adventuring with it.
Question to Manufactured Opinion So I played Mage to level 10, and then Sorcerer to level 20, and in the video you said fighter to level 10, and then 45 levels up (55?) as sorcerer. My question is if I should switch to assassin now or go fighter or something? I know you mentioned not starting at mage and then go to sorc 199.

I just got Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. I am planning to go with Assassin as my final build but is possible build it in such a way so I can play two classes as my final build? For example, being able to switch between Assassin and Ranger as my final build.

By the time you're a high level, it almost doesn't matter what class you are (if you have a balanced build). You'll have heaps of stats to match most classes if not all. And in your case, Assassin and Ranger are quite similar so they will have similar builds (for example: you'll want magic attack for your heavens keys, since they both use daggers)

I didn't even read the stats you get. I started as fighter then went to mystic knight since I usually just go assassin. But wasnt really getting into it. So I made mystic archer and beat the game and now lvl 50. and doing assassin. The extra magic stuff sounds good for the daggers. But never been a caster player. melee all the way. I'm new to this game and this seems like good info, but it is confusingly laid out. Also why are you focusing so much on magic attack here but it seemed like less so for the mystic knight. I thought the assassin wasn't a magic focused character, which is also why it has low magic attack/def stats right? I say this because I'm generally not interested in mage type characters so what paths would you recommend for a sword and bow assassin? (this combo because its cool and more versatile w/ranges)

warrior gives health and strength i believe so to max i guess just change between that and the fighter
wizard gives magical attack boosts
strider and all those classes give boosts to stanima the most
this is all from my own play through discovery's so if one class is better in one aspect im not entirely sure

The Assassin class itself is best for pure Strength boost. It gives 6 Str and 2 Def per level up to 100, then 3 Str and 1 Def after.
Warrior gives 5 Str and 3 Def per level up to 100 and 2 each after.
Fighter gives 4 of each to 100 and 1 Str, 3 Def after.
Irrespective, the Warrior vocation has some of the best augments in the game... so ... it was worth maxing.

Hey man, I'm going with your balance build for my assassin. I decided to make my main pawn a tank. What do you suggest for a good end-game armor set/weapon for a tank? Might sound silly, but I don't want to go "derp" and would like to go off right, plus I just picked up the game and am still learning.

@New PC players, this video is outdated since Dark Arisen DLC. The best weapons for an assassin in the game come from BBI and are pure physical, meaning pure strength builds are incredibly viable.
Go all the way up to the top of grand Soren before you enter the castle area. And stand on a wall and let your pawns do everything
I wondering - are the magical weapon really best ? Considering you get two damage values that have to stack against two defence values vs one stat that has to stack against one defence value ? Granted, most enemies have lower magic defence than physical defence but let's say that an you still have to get through both.
So you said please don't go mage then sorcerer to assassin.. But unfortunately I'm mage to sorcerer but now i want to play assassin so is it that bad in my case or i can do it anyway and it won't affect that much??
So I just checked the wiki, and it says "physical attacks with enchanted weapons only the magic of the weapon matters, not the wielder's core magic" So this means there's actually no reason to level as a sorcerer right? Might wanna edit that bit of the video or put something so people don't take that wrong info.

Okay, I've noticed that a lot of people like to switch classes around a lot just to pick up the different augments from other classes. I'm almost level 40 and I haven't switched from assassin yet. I started out as a strider and went straight for assassin as soon as it was open. I didn't ever plan on switching classes, because, frankly, I like the assassin a lot. Am I crippling/gimping my character in the late game by just remaining pure assassin?
I've been watching this and your mystic knight build video, and I have to say you've helped me alot. I wanted to go mystic knight since I got the game, but I never got past vocation level 3 because my stats sucked dragon balls. So thanks alot and keep it up! :D
No offense man but it doesn't seem like you did your research. Said sin gives highest stamina, it gives highest str. Ranger gives highest stamina. Brought up getting vocation rank but not levels and recommended the lich (1.5k exp per skeleton killed divided across party). Didn't give a heads up on that. Also kept throwing out number of levels per vocation but forgot to mention that the levels you get matter, i.e. you need to get those 45 levels with sorcerer before you hit 100 or your gains get reduced. Have some other qualms but that's just opinion stuff and we're just two different people, that's fine takes all kinds to rock the world.

Just picked up the game for PS4 and I love it. Watching your videos made me re-think my assassin's build. I was going to stay Assassin from 10 to 100 but now I want more balance. What I was thinking was to go Assassin>Sorceror>Mystic Knight/Magick Archer in that order up to 200 but I am not sure of the intervals to use for the stat growth. Suggestions?

Question about the ur-dragon. Does the generation increase by one every time you defeat him. And if so only when you defeat him directly or whenever anyone whos ever helped you do it also?
I think people give this game a bad rap because of videos like this (no disrespect intended), that show to play a class at 100% effectiveness you NEED to switch classes at certain levels and such. While its true to get maximum maximum efficiency you need to do that, its just as viable to play whatever class you want for however long. Just do what makes you happy, whats fun for YOU. Thats what DD is all about y'all, its about finding what clicks with you. You wanna be a sneaky globe-trotting assassin? Awesome! You want to decimate everything with your powerful arcane sorceries? Nice! You want a mix of the two? That works too! And if none of the classes (and i mean NONE) are interestingto you... then why tf did u buy this kind of game?? If youre even a little into RPGs there's something that will appeal to you with this game. And I mean sure, if you play sorcerer for 198 levels and decide to permanently switch to knight for some god-forsaken reason, then yeah your stats are gonna be alittle disappointing... but doesnt that make sense? If you were a carpenter for most of your life and then suddenly decided to be a lighting designer for some performing arts group you'd be pretty clueless too huh?
Ok so if I don't want to play as a mage or sorcerer and plan on using sword&bow/sometimes shield, would fighter to 10 then go to mystic knight for 50-90 levels before assassin be good? (also while sprinkling a few levels of strider, warrior, and assassin in before 100 because I know I'd get bored and want to change things up for a bit). This way i'm sacrificing some MagAtk&Def from the sorcerer for more even boost in Def and HP while still gaining alright MagAtk&Def
Is it feasible at all to go 1-10 Fighter, than Warrior to 100 and Assassin from there and use Ascalon as your main weapon? I literally just picked Dragon's Dogma and trying to soak in some ideas and magic isn't really seeming all that appealing to me.
When you get the assassin vocation to level 9 is it worth it to get rid of your pawns for the damage buff augment?

Based on that after 100 your stat gain is not as good.
easy way to dragonforge items imo is drop a rancid bait meat in the garden where you meet the arisen who rarefies 1st time, drop rancid bait by door that requires void key. if you're invaded kill dragon, grab mats, then enter door then go back into garden and a cursed dragon should be there, then rinse and repeat until it doesn't appear then drop another bait meat. it works very well to dragonforge spam items.
Or kill the Online Ur-Dragon when it's in Grace.

SotiCoto Actually, there were the last few rooms of Post-Daimon BBI as well... including that city. Damn thing is practically swarming with Wyverns, and it tends to spawn the undead dragon too...
SotiCoto unnecessary since curse dragon respawns multiple times with a single bait plus it's easy to get to this location.

There is plenty of gear to dragonforge, and whether one chooses to grind cursed dragons for it or not, it makes sense to take advantage of a natural opportunity in the normal course of gameplay... right? I mean are you just gonna spawn dragons with bait until you've dragonforged everything, then never set foot on BBI again?
I just started playing and I wonder... why do you have to play 200 lvls as other classes..to get the class you want... and how fast can you lvl your character? Why can't I be an assassin from lvl 1 to 200 ? After lvl 200 is there anything still to do in this game? i mean it's not a mmo.. why do you guys prepare your champs like for after lvl 200 , is something happening after lvl 200?
you're absolutely right - and the game is so easy you don't need to min/max. It's just something fun to do if you already beat the game once. You unlock assassin at level 10 then you can play the whole game as that vocation. No need to switch everything around if you don't want to..nothing happens after you hit lvl 200.
You can use augments from other clases, level a class until you get the desired augment and then switch to whatever you want, another thing into acount is the stats you receive each time you level up depending on the class you are leveling up.
