Water Hammer

When water flows through some conduit, it flows like a heavy piston made up of water slipping inside a cylinder. In case the flowing water is suddenly stopped by some mechanical valve or restriction, the action is like a heavy piston is striking that restriction like a hammer. Thanks for the video. But you should also explain the effect of water hammer on the reverse side also. More damage may occur at the reverse side if water is being pumped to an upper elevation.
