    So..in 2003 my Mom wanted a BMW.
    The only one in the showroom was a black on tan M sport e39..she had no idea, so she bought it....fast forward to 2019.
    She wanted a new one. Well, I snatched it up cause the dealer wanted to give her $750....I gave her 2k for it.
    100% stock, all maint.
    I was 48 when i bought it from her.
    Best BM ive ever had.

    Nice video - I couldn't agree more. 6 weeks ago I purchased a 2001 530i SE manual in Orient Blue, with 92k on the clock. I was looking for a decent E46 330ci for ages, but seemed all too sketchy and overpriced. I spotted the E39 and it ticked all the boxes! 3.0l manual, tidy body work, full service history, low-ish mileage, and blue over tan colour combo with style 32 wheels!
    So far I've purchased an Xtrons PX6 head unit, with the ibus module. Fixed sagging sunroof fabric and some other niggly interior bits. Installed new wing mirror, and remapped ECU.
    It drives great, and on a 250 mile cross country run this weekend, I achieved 36.2mpg (according to OBC) sticking to 70mph.
    Next job is the coolant flush, which I'll perform myself. The E39 community is fantastic, and parts are readily available!
    My car is completely unassuming, without an M Sport badge in sight! Super comfortable, and super capable. As the video says, don't sleep on these cars!
    Cheers from the UK!

      Orient blue is one of if not my favorite E39 color, love the purple hues in it. Fantastic spec overall from what it seems. I've been avoiding an android infotainment for the longest time as I've been using some old CDs in the changer and my dads old tapes in the tape deck, but after a year and a half of ownership I think I can move on past the nostalgia factor haha. The IBUS capabilities are too cool to pass up. Style 32s are great as well. I'll need to address a lot of interior things here and there on mine as well! Also have a remapped ECU, really woke the car up. Such a great all around car, and 36 mpg is great! Thanks for the comment and enjoy your E39!

    The 530d LCI performs almost as well as the 530i (the 530i shades the 530d by a second or even fractions of a second), the acceleration from 40 mph is even better on the 530d, and the 530d has seriously better fuel economy.

      @@SamAbraham I didn’t know he styled the E90. However, I’m not surprised. I’ve always loved the styling. I have an E90 now (previously had an 01 E39 525i and 06 E91 325xi) and I love it, I think its looks are close to the E39’s perfection. In fact, the whole car reminds me of a mini-me E39. No, the interior materials aren’t quite as good, but they are better than the pre-LCI E60 with it’s inexcusably plasticky door cards. The ride-handling compromise reminds me so much of my E39, as does the steering with RWD + sport (my E91 had the slower, number x drive rack, tho it was still heavy). As a bonus, the tail lights closely resemble my old 1995 Nissan Maxima’s. The Japanese connection? 😁

    • @spikespiegel2246
      @spikespiegel2246 Год назад

      No one can design a good looking car since the mid 2000s crash test safety and pedestrian safety regulations required the hoods and belt lines of cars be so high. That's why they all look like clown shoes now and have all the "flame surfacing" and other techniques to try and distract you from the hideous overall shape of the car. There will never be a new car that looks anything like an E39. Bureaucrats completely obliterated car design. @@SamAbraham

    • @SamAbraham
      @SamAbraham  2 года назад +2

      Honestly it would be hard to turn down a V8 if the timing chain guides were already taken care of, especially as they're all similar prices these days. Though the steering of the V8 models is just too lazy for my preferences. At least the M5 has a faster ratio but the 540 and 535 dont unfortunately

  • @dadelphilip
    @dadelphilip 5 месяцев назад

    Awesome video! I myself own a 530i manual with upgraded suspension and love it. Only complaint I would have, is the differential :/ They only came with open diffs which sucks because there will be always be 1 wheel spinning speeding out of a corner. (Not really sure yet what I should do about it.. Was looking at some E39 M5 diffs but these are really costly so thats pretty much a no for me now. Feel free to give me some tips maybe)

    • @SamAbraham
      @SamAbraham  4 месяца назад

      Best option thats cost effective is getting a racing diffs kit. It essentially adds a clutch to your open diff which allows you to get the similar effect of an LSD. I will probably do that at some point, only about $350-$400 for the parts. The issue with an M5 diff is that I believe you need to change the entire subframe to an M5/540i subframe, as the inline 6 models have a completely different setup

      Thats decently low mileage! Refreshing the suspension really transforms the car, you'll love it even more after. There's a 530i sport on bring a trailer right now with 60k miles, guessing that'll go for a hefty price tag

    That MPG is too low man. unless you're driving like a mad man on the freeway you should be getting almost 30 mpg at 70. This vehicle also gets better mileage above 70, 75-85 is the sweet spot.
    If you replace the stock slot filter with the K&N slot filter you can actually get almost 32-35 mpg when it can breathe better, I average over almost 500 miles a tank even when being a bit sporty

    • @SamAbraham
      @SamAbraham  2 года назад

      The main pro in theory is that it has the integrated CCV that removes the M54 CCV, which is prone to all sorts of problems and vacuum leaks. so.... your 3 series has MORE THAN 3X the horsepower of this 530i? well - my 2003 530i has 240hp - so that 3 series has 720?? 13 more than a Hellcat?? riiiggghhttt. You talk like a scared bird dude - slow down and fact up. I also have a hot rodded '97 540i and the V8 w exhaust is more grins pr mile than any 3 series - except the monster N62 one lol

      Speaking in terms of wheel horsepower, the 530i with an M54B30 is most likely making 180whp lol. Factory numbers are rated at 225hp. My 335i has an N54 with upgraded turbos, intercooler, fuel pump, exhaust, inlets, outlets, list goes on... making close to 600whp. I can understand your confusion if you were thinking of a stock 3 series lol
