    I have a leaf propagation (a Sedum adolfii) where the mother leaf never dried up. The baby is no longer a baby anymore. The "baby" has grown to about 3 inches tall now and the mother leaf is still full and healthy at the base of the plant.

  • @succulents6137

    I water my leaf babies as soon as the baby is about the size of a grain of rice . Keeping the soil damp makes them grow so much faster and the mother leaf stays in tact for many months

Thank you for your videos. I just discovered you. Oh do you live in zone 9 areas? I am in Florida. I am trying to follow people that live in the same kind of weather as I live in.

    Hello. Just found your channel. This is very timely because i just purchased grapto purple delight. And as i can see they're easy to grow through leaves. So, i'm gonna try that method. I usually do beheading.

      Hi! I'm glad you stumbled upon my channel! Yes, I propagate purple delight a lot by beheading too especially because they do tend to grow long stems overtime. But they also grow a good amount of leaves that propagate so easily, so the more the merrier! Thank you for watching and good luck with your leaf props! 😊💜

    I drip them all and never spray mama leaf,I find they rot too fast I spray mama leaves. I simply drip to wet the roots, mama lasts much longer like this 😊. I am attempting Super Bum props right now. I find they take Roughly 4 weeks to get roots. under lights.

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies 3 года назад +1

      You just leave them on top of the soil with the mother plant. Water the mother plant as you normally would and the leaf props will be just fine with that. The soil in pots with a mature succulent planted in it usually dry out quickly and doesn't need water often. That's why leaf propagations do well in those conditions. 😊

  • @KL-sf6jx

    My leaves are curl, do I let the callused end touch the soil or just let it stay up? Let the leaf face down so the end touches the soil or face up so the leaf touches the soil ,.not the end. Which way is the right way to propergate. Thanks!

  • @foliagecove355

    how do you know when is the best time to cut off the whole rosset and leave the stem to grow babies and whats the best way to do so cuz my purple delight is honestly quite big and im not sure if its ready for a total headchop i do need some help and advice pls ,especially it is tricky for me since I live in a country that has constant rain

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies 3 года назад +1

      I deal with constant rain too. So I always bring my succulents that get their heads chopped off along with the leftover stump in the pot indoors. I let them root indoors under grow lights or by a bright window. As you saw in the video, I also seal the open wounds with glue to prevent moisture from getting in. Once the cuttings are rooted and full of water again, I place them back outdoors and slowly acclimate to sunlight again. You can head chop anytime especially because your purple delights are big already. Just be sure to water them 3-4 days before cutting so they have more water reserved in their leaves to use up while rooting. 😊

    Does this work for string of pearl too?

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies 2 года назад +2

      No, string of pearls propagate by taking cuttings of the plant. They don't grow from a single pearl. Although some say it's possible, it's highly unlikely.

    • @fortunazee
      @fortunazee 2 года назад

      @@TheseSucculentBuddies So did you propagate the the string of hearts by cutting up their leaves?

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies 2 года назад

      No, the string of hearts also only propagate from cuttings. Although they can grow with just the stem and a pair of leaves on it. It does take a while and the chances of it drying up are higher. Better to prop SOH with a longer string cutting for successful propagation.
