TP-Link Archer Wired Range Extender / Repeater Easy Setup (Access Point)

- One of the most demanding settings in a router is also the wireless repeater / range extender (WDS bridging function) settings, and unfortunately this setting is not supported in many popular TP-Link Archer series routers. but don't worry, you can setup your router as a wired repeater with the help of LAN cable up to 100 meters (tested).
Well, some Archer series routers support wds bridging function. Go to system tool - system parameters there you will find wds bridging settings under 2.4GHz / 5GHz wireless network.
Note:- After complete setup, connect the LAN cable from the LAN port of the ap router / existing router to the ap client router / repeater's WAN port. If router's WAN port has STOPPED working (damaged) then connect the LAN cable to any of the LAN ports of the router.

For those of you looking to actually repeat your Wi-Fi signal with this router, THIS VIDEO IS NOT FOR YOU. This only shows how to EXTEND the Wi-Fi signal from the original router by creating a Wireless Access Point. It is indeed an useful tuto but it is not wireless repeating by any means. There is actually a way to wireless repeat the wireless signal, but it needs manual advanced configuration. It can be easily found on RUclips. And there is a setback. This little guy only repeats 2.4Ghz signal. Forget about 5Ghz. If you really need to repeat 5GHz, try a mesh or the newest powerline solutions.

I don't think you saw the complete video, yes he configured the router as an AP but he's making two AP one for 2.4 GHz and one for 5 GHz, this is better a configuration than as repeater if you can feed the router with ethernet (it's gonna be more faster and reliable)

He is right. The connection between the 2 routers is via cable not via WiFi, you guys need to pay more attention. That is what Felipe and I were looking for. I want a way to make the slave router work on WiFi alone, not through Ethernet Cable.

I'm using archer mr200 and configure it as a 2nd access point/extender.
Already done all the step correctly, but the problem arise when i change the router ip address. (default is 192.168.1.1 & it same as per my 1st access point/router)
Change it to 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.250-254 but everytime i did that, i can't access back the router setting/interface at browser.
Until i found out that doesn't matter what no. I change, it will auto configure to 192.168.0.1 (i realize this when i watch your 0.35 video)
Since the ip address is different from another one, so i just maintain it to 192.168.0.1 & my mr200 working perfectly as extender.

Worked like a charm.. Thank you so much ... Tried different methods initially but it connects to a while and then disconnects afterwards. This video helped me a lot. The trick is donot connect the lan cable to the wan port initialy. Do all the configuration and connect the cable at last

Awesome tutorial. Worked like a charm. One optimization: you should use the same name and password for the secondary wireless network. The devices will automatically switch between the primary and secondary wireless networks because they share the name and password.
What is the ip address to use after seeing it up as an access point?
This is bs don't do it, you won't be able to chose the networks because they will have the same name and also it doesn't switch automatically. when you configure your router and range extender with the same SSID, your computer/phone will still see them as two networks and will not achieve the seamless roaming you expect.
That only works if you set it up as Mesh Connection tf😂

Whenever I setup the router as accesspoint,
I can't get into the settings of the router anymore, neither with the router's ip address or the named address.
This model cant change to repeater mode. Stop spread wrong information. Repeater is a connection you extend via wifi not via wired/lan cable. This vid show config AP mode and you still need to connect lan cable to get coonection to internet.
By a hack you can use it as repeater but video is about van

In WDS mode not displaying internet so we can't use this any feature of this router like USB drive/access from tether app with any network
On WDS you can setup it with laptop or pc only
You can use wds on 2.4 & 5 both
If you receiving from 2.4
It will give you internet on both bands speed will according 2.4ghz of you receive with 2.4
Best range upto 40 feet one side 5gh
Like you can cover easily 80 feet by placing it in centre of house
Best to by for dual band wifi wireless repeater
If usb not necessary just go for a6 thats latest security patch
That's why it's called wired repeater mode, because for different storey you will get problem of extending through wifi access

How can I connect enable internet on the access point without having to connect a wired line from the main router to the access point? I want to use the wireless alternative instead.( Access Point: TPlink Archer C1200).

Its pointless. Ive been using mine connected from the original router as a router. This just changes a bunch of settings and does the same thing. If i wanted to use a wire through the house. I would just buy another ethernet cable. Then by that point, i wouldnt even use the wifi part.

yes, also this is expensive, go for TP link Archer C60, you can use as access point or Also, it has wds, with which you can setup as extender

For that u will need ip addresses of all the routers that are connected and the admin password. Then u can just use ip to enter to different routers just like u log in to your own

Hate it when they make idiotic changes to the setup software. Of course, no one there could actually have enough sense to sit down an pretend to be an end user. Nowhere do they have "operation mode" in the menu for the newer Archer routers.

Okay i am a wireless engineer and let me explain you how wifi works . Wifi is a half duplex network which means at any given point of time you can either send traffic or recieve it so if you 100Mb wired link your Wifi theoretically should give 50 Mb which you will never get as there are lot of environmental factors such as noise , interference etc but lets say you get 25 Mb and now you add a repeater that scans the nearby wifi and repeats the signal it would again half the speed you get i.e 12.5Mbps that too based on if you do not have aforementioned environmental factors thus people use it with lan to lan repeater and you if lucky would get same kind of wired speed on 802.11ac .
@@vinunair1676 Repeaters and Extenders are not the same. Thanks to Walmart and Amazon, everyone things its that simple. Repeaters either have to have specialized transmitting equipment or need to be wired.
