Hey man, i don't want to be that guy but I would love more uploads like this...your 10+ minute posts are my life's blood. Thanks for doing what you do, my dude. Greetings from Kekistan. Shadilay.
When Fulchar says a small body of knights and infantry, how many men are we talking about on each side? I known there was a lot of exaggeration of troop strengths by some writers out of ignorance or to embellish a victory. The largest armies I've heard you speak of have been 10-20, 000 but that can't be the case in this skirmish.
I watched this years ago, and find more new vids of battles etc, but so hard to find stuff on Baldwin, your truly William Bradford Baldwin, I have always wondered if there is a blood connection maybe an inheritance?
This eyewitness account by Fulcher of Chartres helps us to better understand the state of mind and soul of these Crusaders. The trust, confidence and love they have for their Lord and Saviour is admirable. As Knights, they knew they were great warriors, yet they would not hesitate to ask God for His mercy and grace in defeating these muslims.
So many clergymen keeping all the records back then. They have a tendency to downplay the Christian leader's strategy and make it sound like everybody just left it up to prayer. I'm sure there was a lot of prayer, and don't let anybody bullshit you...there is plenty of praying before a battle to this very day, but you have to figure there was more emphasis on tactics than the clergy give credit for.
I love these videos. Thanks for doing them.

Brilliant. By overnighting not far from the pass the Turks became more invested. Thus the feigned withdrawal was a success. Baldwin knew all this.
I'm a Baldwin fan myself....
