I wish Durk would do more of the aggressive music like AHHH HA. Definitely think Durk needs better production too, every beat sounded so generic. It was okay, but I really prefer that aggressive Durk.
Speaking fax, this album was great imo, much better than his last solo album the Voice which had some hits but also many skips, this felt like a perfect complete album, only thing I found kinda weird was the Broadway Girls song on it, bc even tho I like it it‘s more like a featuring Lil Durk and the song doesn‘t rlly fit the albums topic and message imo
bro people wants dude to be singing gangster every song killing, dissing saying we sliding for Von DURK he a global artist now his not gonna please everyone
i’m listening to the last track rn lol. Honestly it’s not that bad at all there’s a couple highs. I just expected more feature wise but i haven’t had enough time to judge the album properly
This is like signed to the streets 3 on steroids. Difference is been leaked for a while but summer walker completed that track nicely. Gunna song is gonna be on repeat. I like less features so you can hear the unfiltered pain songs.
Durk did his thing on this one, man has gotten better with each release. He mentioned how he knew this album would be his biggest numbers wise and wanted to maintain that core sound of his. Songs like “Started From” add so much more depth to previous releases like “Granny Crib.” He was also experimenting with “Keep it on Speaker”. Great work from Durkio in my opinion.
I agree with Ant on this one it’s a good album and definitely will stick with me. I prefer aggressive durk for sure but liked his songwriting. i do agree with Lu tho that the beats definitely meshed together and some bars were less than ideal
Yeah I think so too I don‘t understand ppl sayin this was mid imo this was one of the best albums this year so far, would rate it like something between 8-8.5/10
He has a No Auto Durk album with Metro that was supposed to drop but if his next album is produced by metro and Southside, it would be an aoty contender!
I say it was a good album my only thing about was I thought it was lil bit too much of singing Durk, wanted to hear more tracks like AHH HAA and Pissed Me Off but overall thought it was solid. I prefer The Voice over this album but still I thought it was solid nothing too crazy, 7.5 out of 10 rating.
@@2ymen681 respect ya opinion too but it was definitely better than 6.5 production and features could have been better probably but other than that it was nice lil album
I have my criticisms of this album. The “you gon smell percs and lean when I fart” line from shootout at my crib had me rethinking life, but it isn’t necessarily horrible. In my opinion Durk has put out better
If I’m being honest this is lil durks second best album I’ve heard, one of my favorite songs on this album is so what, the first song on the deluxe version, broadway girls, and computer murderers
I actually enjoyed the flow/cadence on keep it on speaker, but the autotune was a bit heavy during the chorus. regardless I got a solid 9 tracks on playlist from the project, enjoyed the personal tracks and was enjoyable. voice of the heroes still an amazing project and my favorite from him and baby
My opinion I think it was ok like for me track 7-16 was very same in the melodic piano and guitar beats and topic matters, I think modern hip hop has over used this sound but his sound when he aggressive like Ahhahhh for me hits harder 🙌🏾 and love the last sound with the country artist Morgan Wallen which was stronger cause it was very different 😌
Depends what you like. People over hating on it. People are too spoiled with what they want and expect nowadays. Just enjoy the artists work and let it breathe Also lots of projects can grow on you
I mostly agree wit there takes the production was good yet repetitive. The writing was S-TIER and rly had me bout to cry in some moments. The main issue for me is that durk needs to figure out what he wants to do vocally and fully commit. If u wants to do the a boogie/swalee approach learning to actually use melodies and singing or if jus wants to do the Travis, Lil Baby, style of the autotune he needs to perfect it bc vocal he is struggling a bit
Actually I liked this more this oldschool rappers prolly have some better production and lyrics but I‘m personally not feelin it at all, Johnny P‘s Caddy was great tho
This album was fire, the thing about durk is you have to relate, y’all not from the trenches so y’all can’t relate, that’s why y’all like the more aggressive shit because it’s more turn up and u don’t have to relate
@@Citygbb I been noticing is everybody who not from the trenches say they don’t like the album because they like more aggressive durk but it’s because they don’t understand shit he speaking, I’m Chicago born and raised so I understand everything from the slang to the streets he mentioning to the ppl he mention and the struggles he went through so I get it 100%
Good review guys! I feel like it was a great album. I do get that Durk could have used one or two more “no auto” type Durk songs. I think he wanted the subject matter to resonate with his audience and I think he over achieved in that area.
I feel like it’s good but if this is your biggest fan base you ever had and you want them to know what your origins story I needed this to be more creative for me. Tap into new instruments new styles while still bringing the presence you always brought. I give it a B
Haven’t listened to the album yet, but I will. I’ll say rn tho that most (recent) “trap” albums just aren’t really that interesting or engaging in terms of sonics and musical texture, if you kno what I mean. Last one off the top of my head that really gave me that “wow this is something special, this nigga has sumin going on” feeling was The Melodic Blue by Baby Keem. I’m open to hearing other opinions and viewpoints too
I give this album a 8/10,definetely enjoyed this album. But I do understand the hate of the project for the fact that the production is almost the same on every song. But can someone explain to me why the three singles that have dropped have literally nothing to do with the album in general.Honestly Broadway Girls,Pissed Me Off and AHH HA have the best production because it's different from the rest.I didn't like the Future feature at all,Summer Walker was an ok feature and the Gunna & Morgan Wallen features were the best ones for me.
Yeah especially Broadway Girl didn‘t really fit the albums topic/message but I still fw it agree with your opinion on the features Future disappointed, Gunna slid Morgan Wallen did his thing but it was rather his than Durks song lmao and Summer Walker surprised me in a positive way, rlly liked the song with her and Durk they both had some great vocals and the melody and lyrics hit 🔥
I like the fact that it didn’t overstay its welcome at 45 mins. However production was a weakpoint and honestly durks rapping and technical ability just wasn’t there for me. Definitely disappointed gonna have to go mid
I like the album I think durk did good. I was expecting drill but its more pain music. I think he still needs to work on balancing his albums he needed another up tempo drill banger and to place shootout before ahh haaa and to have a solid closing song that represented 7220. Shootout been on repeat all day tho. There's about 6 or 7 songs on my playlist
I agree with everything you said. It’s a great album. I think his main motivation behind this album was to make his audience connect to the subject matter. But like you said he could have used one or two more drill songs to balance it out a little more! I think he’s saving some of his “no auto” Durk for the OTF compilation album and other future projects he might drop this year!
Only durk fans understand this is a great album smoking and thinking, golden child, shootout in my crib, etc and he is not talking about young boy on ahhh ha he talking about fbg cash
people don't like violence but they want to promote violent music,I really don't get it if Durk had put out diss and killing aggressive songs some would be saying he too gangster this and that you will never please fan 100% no cap
Didn’t like it at all really. I liked a few songs but I didn’t like the sound, I didn’t like his vocal mixing in those melodic flows and most of the production sounded very similar… I’m all for a cohesive sound in a project but the drum programming and melodies were too repetitive. Also was it just me or did “Petty Too” sound exactly like Pushin P? Overall not a good project in my opinion. I would give it a low Mid rating. Love the content guys keep goin!
Yall dont understand that production stuff yall talking about is not what durks music is about. Yall be expecting to much lil durk been said he signed to the street so that what the music for!
Yeah everybody needs to listen to Durk solely for the lyrics cause I honestly think he doesn’t give a damn about if people think his production is a lil repetitive cause he hears a beat and he just raps… he just stuck to his roots as far as making a album and producer wise
Durk left something to be desired. I figured writing would be good but his voice connected to the beats felt a bit bland for my taste. I like the beats a lot but his voice kind of just felt there.
I agree Trap has become way too Generic to a point u dont even feel like replaying after the first listen the whole album i only listened to 1 minute per song
I don’t like when non black ppl don’t like rap or hip hop , n post n talk abt it like they have the right , it’s like me talking about Arab or Chinese music or sum , I’m not going to understand it to the point where I could go through n say what was good or bad or right n wrong , go review Spanish music if u got anything negative to say , or whatever ur culture is
