After a dominant first half of the race that got interrupted by EA server issues causing everyone to disconnect, the whole 36-lap PSGL F1 Mexican Grand Prix was completely restarted.
An early safety car meant Jarno Opmeer was on a sub-optimal strategy, along with poor inner-team communication as well as frustration from the earlier server issue which prevented him from a potentially easy victory, the PSGL championship leader dropped outside of the Top 10, but recovered brilliantly with the help of his teammate Jake Benham, and a final lap overtake on his championship rival Thomas Ronhaar.

Stewards decision on the final lap overtake (L36 T5)
Decision: No further action.
Reason: Racing incident. The contact was primarily caused by Thomas Ronhaar who disregarded Jarno Opmeer's car placement upon going wide on the exit of Turn 5 and drove into their path.
The stewards noted Jarno Opmeer turned in early but don't believe played any part in this contact.
should be a 5s penalty for Thomas. Went way too deep then didnt check his mirrors and just threw his car on the racing line at low speed. Could've cost Jarno a win there.
@@daarom3472 nah I’d let it slide cause it didn’t affect Jarno much, I think a penalty should be given for cutting across Ismael in the straight and damaging his win which killed any chance of a podium for him
@@willho4202 doesnt matter. He could've ended Jarno's race there and it was a clear griefing move as hes not racing for the championship just trying to take Jarno out. He was lucky he didnt hit Jarno harder.
@@willho4202 the penalties should rely at 0% on the outcome. It's a faulty move, it should be penalized. You lose a corner, the Schumi things have stopped.

Both of them have done nothing wrong there, just a racing incident. Jarno was more than half a car length ahead, he doesn't need to give space to Thomas there (which Thomas complains).

I agree it was completely Ronhaars own fault. But don't hate him for his comments as thats just what you say in the heat of the moment and EVERY driver does that. He even said it himself and literally said ggs in Jarno's chat 5 minutes later

He was getting hit quite a lot, not to excuse him driving like his name was Thomas Ronhaar, but literally everyone in the top 5-6 except Jarno had hit him in the last few laps.

Thomas Rohnar is a dope IMO.
He runs wide, tries to retake the racing line which Jarno is occupying and smashes into the side of him - then complains that Jarno "Turned in on him", when it was literally the other way around. Then to top it all off, Thomas doesn't leave any racing room through the corner or exit - and only avoided wiping Jarno out of the race thanks to Ghosting.
Ghosting in an official F1 event is stupid.

But if it wasn't on in this race - Thomas would have probably spun Jarno out thanks to being a bad sport/bad racer or just not very good.
Then if that happened, Thomas would get a penalty but still probably have finished ahead of Jarno - which is unfair.
I think Butcher and Ronhaar are the last people on the grid who needs to complain about other people 'better than them' their racing style.

For those asking what Álvaro and Ismael said, the summary would be that Ismael is unlucky due to the wing damage, Álvaro predicted Jarno's victory after Benham's defence and said that Alfie is not the most intelligent driver on the grid (kind of).
Alfie telling Alvaro to leave space right after leaving none and forcing him off is another level of lacking self awareness
@@willho4202especially bad because you can clearly see Alvaro left as much space as humanly possible. As he was exiting onto the second straight he was almost a full car width off track and in the previous corner he did as much as could be expected.
Never Thomas fault , there’s a reason when lucas and Jaron battle it’s the most entertaining because both of them know how to race without incident unlike Thomas … I get it your both fighting for the win but take responsibility as soon as you went in deep you knew you were in trouble and jarno was untitled to that space being literally next to Thomas at that point

Ronhaar had a paddock on the inside. Ofc his line would’ve been compromised but he still had more than enough room…his line wouldn’t have been compromised if he didn’t run deep.

Going by Thomas' steering input, he shouldn't be as quick as he is I think. Virtually all the other drivers are very smooth and precise, Thomas is very sharp and aggressive with his wheel - that style shouldn't work over race distances I think, otherwise others would do it.
RIP Jake. Probably should have left more room seeing Ronhaar attempting yet another smash and go.

time trial heroics, essentially. Lawrence has the same issue where he's stupid fast on a clean track but can't handle anything that involves getting close to another car well.
Part of it's just inexperience, part of it is that they drive like they're going against the game's AI who typically jump out of the way when you do a dumb so you get away with it a lot.

Everyone gets mad in the heat of the moment... but few people spout turnip-iq takes quite like Butcher and Ronhaar when it happens.
Think that drives a lot of the hate towards them. It's one thing to maybe cross the line from aggro to dirty and maybe not know where the line is to begin with- plenty of racers in real life and sim, fast and slow and in between have that issue. It's another thing entirely to do that and then consistently refuse to take accountability.

These drivers, season after season, show that they are nothing more than Quali Specialists. Absolutely no racecraft when they get wheel to wheel, hard racing in this series almost never ends without contact. This race for Jarno reminds me of the race where Lewis was having the exact same thing happen and he was completely in the dumps. His engineer kept him on track, told him to get on with it, and Lewis came back to win the race in dramatic and dominant fashion.
In this case it wasn't the engineer that got Jarno back on track. It was the sacrifice Jake made to help Jarno catch the leaders and set up the win.
They need a head of Strategy or a “Team Principal” to get both drivers team suggested strat and them making the final decision for both sides
