I’ve had this desk in Black for about a year and I love it. The pull-out drawer is wide enough for a 61 key keyboard & with room for 8 rack spaces at eye level, it’s more than enough for the average Project studio. As far as its sturdiness, it has a modern steel frame so it is not as sturdy as a wood frame but it’s sturdy enough & light enough to move it around if you need to.

Are you still happy with this desk? Are those 6" Kali? Did you try them on the top shelf and is it too unstable that you need the monitor stands? I use Akai MPC and worried about stability playing/banging beats and using midi keyboard on top. I'm not super aggressive with it but constant fiddling with instruments on top putting downward pressure might make too much wobble. And for sure it won't support a Technics 1200 turntable right?
I'm still fairly happy with the desk. Recently I've been having some problems with my seating position, I feel like it's mostly to blame on my autonomous chair, which I've had comfort problems with for a long time now. The Kali's are 6'' and I prefer them on stands so I can get some more distance/width from my sitting position. If the MPC is on the top surface you might not have issues but the keyboard tray is too wobbly for that much downward force. I wouldn't put a turntable on this desk. Even a little wobble is no good for that. I'd get a really sturdy side table for that if you can, one with a heavy base.
Great Review. Quick question the tray where your typing keyboard is, what is the distance between there and to the floor. I think I have a high chair and it might work for this desk. Thanks!
What is the width of the tray? I want to see if I could fit my music keyboard on it (reverse of your orientation). Great review, thanks! (And yes, the prices are really all over the place! Checked other retailers, too.)
The useable tray surface is 39.5" wide. I believe it was advertised as 40 but that's the width including the rails on the edges! Thanks so much for watching!
Do you think contact paper/adhesive vinyl paper would stick to the material of what the desk is made of and remain for a long period of time without peeling off? I would purchase the yellow desk because it extremely cheaper than the other colors and wrap it with contact paper to change the color, or do you think it's better to paint it instead of covering it with contact paper? .
I would recommend either trying vinyl/plastic spray paint or spray on plasti-dip. The surface has a three-dimensional texture which does not play well with sticky applications. Spray paint would be quickest, and has a lot of color options. Plasti-dip would give you the advantage of being able to peel it off and change the color.
With all the rack slots used and a heavy “27 Apple Thunderbolt Display this desk is incredibly wobbly, I purchased extendable/lockable rods from Amazon to try and strengthen it.
Where do you think you'll end up placing the rods to strengthen the desk? I only have one piece of rack gear in currently but I can imagine that all that stuff will really make this thing wobble
Hi. Great video. I bought one myself. I’ve been meaning to buy some universal rack shelfs, but I am not sure which to get. These seem to be slanted and I don’t know if they need special angled shelves. Have you been able to order any that are compatible with this desk?
These use the same universal format as all other rack mount systems, and the angle is fairly steep, about 30 degrees. I looked for shelves and mounts, mainly one to house my Mac mini, but couldn't find anything within my budget. I think it's really focused on holding gear rather than storage units
Is there a chance you put the rails on in reverse? I can't think of any other reasons why it wouldn't move outwards. you might need to reach out to the manufacturer and get a replacement :/
Thanks for the video. I just saw this on Amazon and yeah the color waves and different prices. I've noticed that with a lot of products now days. I assume it's because of the shipper... I work at Amazon and some shyt idk where it's originally from lol. It's weird
Lol look up the acme eleazar on Amazon and look at the two tier not 3 and the difference in price from the natural ($500) and black oak ($1350) same exact desk different color. The main reason is the seller selling the item since Amazon is a 3rd party and almost anyone can sell on there
kind of ridiculous! almost like they're trying to trick anyone who is too lazy to do some quick research. I'm glad I got mine for the low end, because paying over $1k for a particle board desk is insane
