- Flybe flight on the Dash 8 turboprop plane from Stuttgart to Birmingham. On this Flybe trip report, you will see all the flight from Stuttgart airport until outside Birmingham airport.
We made this flight already in the busy aviation summer season. Unfortunately, some issue made us have a big delay in our flight. A chain of events that you will be able to see in the video.
Besides that, this was my first time flying on the Bombardier Dash 8 turboprop airplane, and I must say it is a nice plane and really comfortable for the passengers, with huge legroom.

@@crt9916 Actually, last week I was really close to buying a flight via MXP, but I had to choose another option that was cheaper. I'm really looking forward to flying to MXP. I would like to fly there with Air Europa on the A330 or B787 :)

I’ve flown on the ATR a few times and I loved it!
Actually, this weekend we had an ATR Trip Report :D
Dash 8 is the best regional turboprop aircraft. The aircraft have an excellent safety record. In cruise, it is not louder than a jet but on takeoff there is more vibrations because of the 13 feets diameter prop. Canadian aircraft with canadian engines, excellent match. Believe me, its a great and secure aircraft. Cheers.
Actually, it is, yep. It's said that it's more powerful than the ATR.
This was my first time flying in the Dash 8 and it was a very comfortable flight.

At least they had fuel in the aircraft, wouldn’t be the first time Flybe had no fuel and boarded the aircraft to then kick every off again for another 2 hours. Nice video as always

I have flown on the ATR-72 several times with American Eagle and USAirways Express (RIP) and I loved it! Great plane. Sturdy as a rock!
I've flown also some times with the ATR, mainly with TAP Portugal. It's more comfortable than it may look! :)

i flew on board Atr 42, Sf340,Sf 2000....i like the turbo prop, the sound of the engine...lol and , yes the best for short fly ...for me i liked fly with Sf 2000, silence, comfortable ...and speed near a regional jet ! ...it was a good and nice plane ....but Saab stopped all production ....actually i like Dash 8 and Atr 42 and 72 new generation :) and good video :)

I would like to fly on the Saab 2000. I've seen recently one operated by Logan Air. I'll try to make a video on it. It's not easy to see them flying anymore in Europe.

I´ve only flew a few times with some LGW-Dash 8 from Stuttgart to Hamburg - the Turbo props are much slower and much noisier than jets and you feel every little turbulence much harder because they´re so tiny. The only matchpoint for the Dash is that you can watch more because they´re flying lower - if it´s not cloudy. So I would always prefer a jet, even a little one like the Embraer 175 or the CRJ 900.
ATR´s are of course much in service, on the Canarias really regularly every day long, as it was mentioned. But I don´t know which airline is still operating the Saab 2000 - there´s indeed the legend that they´re as fast as regional jets. But they must now be pretty old planes.
@@NicolaW72 Logan Air is still operating at least 1 Saab 2000. I would like to fly on it before it gets retired :)
Yep, I prefer to fly in small regional jets as well, but for the regional airlines, this kind of turboprops are the only way to be profitable. Jets like CRJ and ERJ are the same size but I would say they are meant for longer routes where a big jet is too much.

Buen video! A mi me encantan los turboprops y por suerte creo que ha sido de los aviones que mas he volado,porque binter,la aerolinea Canaria mas grande pues usan principalmente atr 72,y les vuelo mucho :)

Es correcto, Binter, hasta hace muy poco tenía una flota exclusiva de ATR. Ahora ha empezado a usar jets para volar a la Península y algún vuelo interinsular. Tienen un pedido de jets con Embraer, así que parece que empezarán a volar a más destinos de la Península.

Great views! I love the Dash 8 no idea why :) . The reason will be te sound of Turboprop and the really good performance of the Dash 8. I flew with an ATR 72, the sound is also awesome but this one is much better. Respect of the crew due to delay!

It's said thay the Dash is better than the ATR for long regional flights. Is faster and also has better performances 🙉

Esta fue mi primera vez en el Bombardier Dash. Y me ha gustado bastante la verdad.
No es mi avión favorito, desde luego que no, pero es muy cómodo para distancias cortas. Eso está claro. Lo eligiría antes que al ATR, creo yo.

So we had/have a lot of business trips between DUS and MAN and the punctuality rate is a disaster!

Haha Actually, I did 3 flights with Flybe and all of them were delayed hahahahaha Not as much as this one, but delayed. Maybe they should review their turnaround procedure or add some more time for them.
By the way, on Tuesday I'm recording the first flight in Boeing 757! Can't wait to fly it! :D
Is good to see a review to my home airport in Birmingham👏 for the most part ive always floan on a dash 8 with Flybe but on one of the journeys there was sickness and a 4 hour delay with a dash 8 and the replacement was an embraer 175 that did the journey 47 minutes however the schedule departure from Birmingham to Amsterdam was 1 hour 20 using the dash 8. In two weeks time I will be flying to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport from Birmingham with Flybe no doubt on a q400 dash 8🤞

I was really looking forward to flying in the E175 this time. Basically because 3 days after this flight I was flying twice in the Flybe Dash 8 again! But anyway, it was a very nice trip as well on this plane :)
Wish you a very nice and safe flight to Amsterdam! I was there a couple of times but never flew there with Flybe or in a turboprop. Amsterdam airport is one of my favourites in Europe. It's really big and with a lot of shops and, the most important, a huge roof terrace! :D
Ivan avgeek I try and book window seats although often if I'm travelling with friends or family they may prefer the aisle seats so I can record the views take off landings and do still images which I create a photobook of the journey or holiday destination with the video clips I then create a DVD for my own record so as such I don't publish but I may do in the future

@@OnBoardHD on my next flight to Amsterdam I'm taking a chance to try and check in early and get a window seat because I live in Birmingham I haven't prioritise the video footage from my local airport as I've done that several times I generally do that from my destination as much better to get a day or night time shot in an area unfamiliar with where as in Birmingham have driven walked and cycle along the route that the plane generally flies over if the planes are flying from the South and a landing on runway 15 they fly over my home or if the learning on 33 and it coming from the North they sometimes flow over my heart I can generally track them and I have on one occasion coming back from Amsterdam see you in a large store which is only a mile from my home when I do I will probably put my travel on another channel I currently have one for photography this channel to do with my footwear Renovations which will basically be a host for my website a third one will probably more for my personal Adventures I still have videos from my trip to Atlanta with delta last year and I visit to Portugal and to Lisbon from London Heathrow in September will be in a TAP A330 on the outbound journey with an a321neo on the return I still have yet to fly an A320 series on a350 a380 only the A330 &A340 are Airbus planes that are flown on and I've still yet to fly on a Boeing 777 or a 787

I'm currently planning the first trip there, probably it will be with Norwegian, as the other options are really expensive. I would like to fly in the American Airlines MD80 before they retire it, but it's really complicated to be honest.
Pues estuviste en el avión turboprop más rápido en la actualidad, así que de eso no hay de qué quejarse por no volar en el E175 programado originalmente, personalmente he volado a bordo de los ATR 42 y los Beechcraft B1900 y aunque el último es bastante pequeño, me gusta más por lo ruidoso de sus motores P&W PT6C Canada,muy buen vuelo.
Es correcto, así es. Los Dash son los turboprops más rápidos hoy en día. Y con un historial de seguridad envidiable, la verdad.
Me ustaría volar en la Beechcraft B1900!! Qué aerolínea fue la que te llevó en ella? TAP? Portugalia? :)

Communication is King. And it was great that the Captain kept all informed and even took time to explain about the air conditioning to keep everyone, literally , cool. Don't like all those problems though . Paper work wrong , bags going onto the wrong flight etc. Doesnt fill me with confidence. Never mind they had to change the aircraft. I hate those planes. And if I was expecting a jet and got that , well I wouldn't be impressed. Did the whole crew call in sick ?. Nice views , great vid but it didn't look comfortable to me...Cheers , g

Yep, absolutely agree. It's really important to maintain the passengers informed about what's going on. Even if it's basically the same as 15 min ago. Every pilot knows that, but I guess it's so easy to forget it and just wait while not saying anything to the passengers, so great job from the captain and first officer there!
I don't anything else about the crew apart from what the captain said in the PA. Sometimes, in the Summer season peak, a lack of 2-3 pilots 1 day can be a mess. Hope they got well soon. :)
The plane itself was comfortable. I mean, the legroom, for example, was amazing, especially for a regional aircraft, where you don't really need a huge space since you're going to make really short flights on it.

You really matched a bad day for flying via Stuttgart - but obviously a really good information policy! I know Stuttgart Airport very well.
Btw.: Until now I don´t used flybe - but at a few occasions I flew with Dash 8 from LGW between Stuttgart and Hamburg. They´re much slower than jets and you will feel turbulences much stronger because they´re so little. The only better thing at Dash 8 is the fact that they´re flying lowe so you can watch more out of the window - if it is not cloudy. So I would always prefer a jet, let it be an Embraer 175 or a CRJ 900 or other Regional Jets of this sort.
And no: Until now I never flew with an A 380 - and the way it goes with this type of planes let me expect that I´ll never do it.
Great vid as always Lucas! I have only ever flown a dash 8 between Innsbruck and Vienna (of course!) on Austrian. I quite liked it. With Austrian thre is only the complimentary snack and drink which is fine on a one hour flight. What amazes me about Flybe etc is that they manage to carry such a range of food and drink to purchase on such a tiny aircraft, The galley os not that big!!
Fully agree about UK passport control. Gatwick seems to be worse than Heathrow. I dread landing late in the evening and then have the prospect of that fiasco!

Ah! Innsbruck! I would love to fly there. I will do it this year, for sure. I don't know it during the summers or winter season, but it will be for sure this year in the channel! :)
Well, I think you would be surprised about how big was the galley, at least o this plane. All that you can see in front of the first row is a galley! haha
Gatwick is usually the worst for the passport control, but Stansted sometimes is a hell!

Pues sí, cosas de la aviación. A nadie le gusta tener un retraso así, pero al menos, si te toca un comandante como el de este vuelo que mantiene informado constantemente al pasaje.... pues es mucho más llevadero. Mal gestionado todo por parte de Flybe y el aeropuerto de Stuttgart (aparentemente) pero bien hecho por la tripulación, que al final son los que están en verdadero contacto con el cliente (el pasajero).

The Q400 is a great plane. I enjoy a lot flying with them!

La verdad es que el espacio entre asientos fue una sorpresa. No esperaba semejante comodidad. Sin duda, si repito con ellos en el futuro, ese espacio será una de las razones para hacerlo! :)
También he volado mucho en este tipo y en los ATR e incluso los Fokker 50 o los primeros de Air Europa, los British Aerospace ATP . No se porque la gente les tiene miedo a las hélices. El espacio entre asientos es a veces mejor que en los aviones grandes. Para vuelos cortos van muy bien pues el tiempo de vuelo apenas varía. Buen canal, saludos desde Ibiza.
Totalmente de acuerdo! Lo único que no me termina de convencer de los turboprops es el ruido que hacen durante todo el vuelo.
Tu que ya has ido en ellos lo sabrás. Pero en el vídeo parecen silenciosos... lo que no sabe la gente es que de lo ruidosos que son, la cámara "elimina" mucho sonido porque lo toma como ruido ambiente jaja

Yo he volado en ATR, pero no con Iberia. Lo hice 3 veces con TAP Portugal y 1 con Air Europa Express en las islas Canarias.

Yo viajé de Madrid a San Sebastián y el vuelo fue súper agradable, había un muy buen espacio entre los asientos y sobre todo fue muy puntual!

Yo tampoco he volado nunca en A380 o B747. Siempre estoy alerta por si surge alguna oferta loca para volar en el A380 o B747 de cualquier aerolínea, pero por ahora sólo hubo una opción: cuando quebró Air Berlinm hace ya unos años, Lufthansa operó unos cuantos vuelos Frankfurt-Berlin-Frankfurt con Boeing 747-400 para suplir la demanda durante unos días. No me fue posible comprar uno de esos billetes =(

I flew 3 times with them last week and I had a good experience on board, but all of them had some delay... I know that we are in the summer season, but I think they should try to improve in that aspect. The crew was the best of this flight, without any doubt. :)

@@OnBoardHD Yes l have had the pleasure of flying with Flybe over the last 5 years and yes like all airlines we had the odd hiccups but it happens. Flybe works well to deliver great customer service and friendly professional pilots .

As you say, I think Flybe has a very interesting product with all those regional flights that can't be served by jets, but they should modernize the airline a little bit and improve the delays. Probably Virgin and the other partners will work on that. Though I think the most interesting part of Flybe for those airlines are their slots in Heathrow, that are worth millions...

Turbo props make it a bit different and look the same as any jet aircraft inside.Love the big windows as well.Have done Southampton And Glasgow on turbo props just short flights from Manchester worth it as it’s cheaper most times and faster than the train.And it’s convenient as I live 2.5 miles from Manchester airport.I must say it’s no wonder Fly be are in financial trouble with delays and operational problems surely they have stand by pilots on call?.It must cost a fortune in ground fees with late departures.Have had good experience’s with them let’s hope they get sorted specially with the number of staff and size of the fleet.Good report as always.👍
Yep, the biggest differences are the noise inside the cabin (higher on the turboprops during all the flight) and their speed (but for regional flights the speed is not a problem).
I've found the train super expensive in the UK, isn't it? I mean, one trip from Birmingham to London for 60 pounds or more. That's crazy! At least compared with the fares that I've found in any other country in Europe.

There is always something with Flybe - have had delays, no air con. Have flown them for years as keep seeing bad things about their safety or crew in the news
Actually, I didn't know about the "Flybe delays" until I flew with them 3 times in one week. All of them had some kind of delay. Even that in 2 of the flights the plane arrived on time to the airport where I was departing. I don't know, I'm not an expert on this but they should do something with it.
Anyway, apart from that, the experience was good onboard.

Pues sí, totalmente cierto, las 3 opciones para volar en Canarias (Binter, CanaryFly y Air Europa Express) vuelan casi exclusivamente ATR.
Pronto haré algún vuelo con alguna de ellas. ¿Recomiendas alguna de las 3 en particular?

You wont find any new or different airplanes than the Airbus family 319-320-321 (in the meantime they do expecting the Neo Airbus ) but they provide a very nice on board service!!! Also domestic flights are flown with Dash 8 q-400, Dash 8-100 and Atr 42-600 !!! I think that chance given you should try to fly with them!!! And especially you should visit Greece in Summer !!! In the BA days this route was operated by a CRJ so the use of a Dash 8 is obviously a backwards step in terms of journey time. In fact all the ex BA routes are now operated by Dash 8’s so you can see where I am coming from.
Wow! I didn't know that this route was served by British Airways in the past! Definitely with CRJ this route would be much more comfortable.
Anyway, the use of turboprops is probably is the only way to make these routes profitable... =/

OnBoardHD - Flight Experience i did the routes AMS-DXB DXB-MEL and DXB-AMS on the A380 only BNE-DXB was in a 777. All flights were with Emirates. The best economy experience i had so far on long routes....

A la pregunta que propones, te la respondo con un "SÍ". ATR 72-600 de Air Nostrum de EAS a MAD ida y vuelta. Uno de los mejores vuelos que he podido vivir; comodidad, puntualidad y un servicio exquisito. Muy recomendable.
Yo también viajé de MAD a EAS con Air Nostrum y fue un vuelo muy agradable, muy buen servicio y siempre puntual!

La verdad es que para vuelos regionales de corta distancia, los turboprops son mucho má cómodos que los jets de gran tamaño. Ahorras mucho tiempo en el embarque, desembarque... y si le añadimos un espacio entre asientos como el de Flybe... pff ganas por todos los lados! jaja

Pues en este caso tapé a todo el personal de tierra a 100% por el hecho de decir que pensaba que habían echo alguna cosa equivocada. Dentro de cabina tapo la cara de aquellos que miran direcatamente a la cámara.
Por ahora nunca nadie me ha pedido que tape caras ni nada. Entre otras cosas porque todo el mundo piensa que estoy sacando fotos, no grabando vídeo, y menos para RUclips jaja

Hola campeón, que tal? mucho tiempo sin comentar, es que de abril a julio es cuando tengo mas trabajo y tengo que estar al top!! como tus videos por cierto!! los sigo viendo y me siguen encantando igual!! me gusta el ambiente en estos vuelos en turboprop, hice algunos (en el Saab 2000 de la antigua Crossair dos de ellos en jumpseat y el ATR 72/500 de Air Nostrum en un Valencia_Madrid y este mismo DASH-8 en un Ginebra-Viena con Austrian), hay un algo especial, no sé si es por el ruido de los motores o que la cabina sea mas estrecha...pero me gustaron.
Por lo del A380 (la patata volante), no, nunca volé en el y tampoco pienso que me pasara un dia... no son mis destinaciones ni de vacaciones o de negocios... esas mas bien son por ser aficionado a los aviones... y las voy a hacer en... TRIPLE 7 SWISS... mi amigo viene de acabar su curso de commandante para este avión y ya estamos hablando de hacer algunos viajes juntos!!

Monta el diseño muy similar a los clasicos Fokker F-27 y Fokker 50, los motores son los Pratt & Whitney PW 127 ,Fly Be vuela en código compartido con la escocesa Loganair, Fly Be tiene también el Saab SF 340 (Loganair Scotland) Jet2.com y Jet2.Holidays.com vienen mucho a Gerona y a Canarias 14:50

Firstly a joke: "How do pax flying with this airline use to call it? FLYMAYBE!"
As a frequent flyer from Stuttgart to Birmingham my honest records about Flybe and their service:
50 % of all flights are delayed by at least 1 hr from STR, no matter if it is the morning or the evening flight.
30 % of all flights are delayed by 2 hours and more from STR.
30 % of all flights from BHX are delayed.
This years highlights so far:
- Double aircraft change in BHX due to technical issues including one aborted start. This resulted in over 5 hrs of delay. It included 1 h at 3°C in the bus with open doors waiting for boarding the first (broken) plane. No food, no drinks in the last plane for free. Purser told me: "Pay by credit card, you get an receipt and afterwards you can ask for reimbursement from Flybe"
- Flight vom STR to BHX in the evening had so much delay, that Flybe was not allowed to start after 11 pm (starts are banned due to noise reasons after 11 pm in STR, everybody knows but apparently not Flybe). It was 1:30 am until transfer and hotel organized. Ended up in 12 hrs of delay until being in BHX.
- Flight vom STR to BHX in the evening made it just before 11 pm (more than 2 hrs of delay), but in BHX the terminal was already closed so Flybe had to organize a bus to bring us to the other terminal which took about additional 20 mins. People started to argue with the crew how this can happen and where accused "fouling" by the crew and "to shut up". Final delay 2:45 hrs.
- In almost every case of delay the reason seems to be sick cabin personnel/flight crew.
- In 100 % of all delays from STR there is no information shown at the gate. Forget about your right to get a meal and drink after 2 hrs of delay.
- You should see people's pissed of faces, when Flybe charges them 50 Pound at the gate because their trolley does not fit into the rack by the thickness of an hair.
Unfortunately it is the only direct connection between STR and BHX. Talking to other frequent flyers everybody is the same opinion, that Flybe is over expensive but has a terrible service and no reliability. If you ever want to experience to be treated like kettle you should book a flight! Flybe is really gentle regarding delays, but has no merci with passengers. Hopefully something changes with the acquisition by Virgin Atlantic/Stobart Aviation.

Buenos días amigo! Qué coincidencia ver un TR de la Dash 8, que ayer volé en ella haciendo la ruta HAM - WAW - TLL (Dash 8 / CRJ 900). Personalmente no me gusta la Dash 8 para rutas durando más que una hora, ya que me parecen bastante ruidosos (pero el CRJ 900 también lo es si te asignen un asiento al lado de los motores 😣). Sin embargo la Dash 8 es un avión muy fuerte y vale la pena de haberlo probado 😏 Antes de olvidarlo: Anteayer me presenté al C1 de castellano y creo que me salió bien... 😊 Te informaré cuando me habrán dado los resultados

Volaste en el Dash de LOT!? Es una de las aerolíneas que quería probar este año... pero desde que el MAX está en tierra, tengo el proyecto en standby, pues quería hacer la ruta Londres-Varsovia-Vienna (MAX y Dash). A ver si vuelve el MAX a volar pronto y reactivo ese proyecto. :D
El CRJ es bastante ruidoso al lado de los motores, sí jaja Basicamente porque lo tienes a la altura de la cabeza jaja Sin embargo, en las filas delanteras es super-silencioso.

Yo sí q he viajado en un turboprop. Fue un vuelo de ida y vuelta de Madrid a Valencia con un atr 72 de Air Europa express. El vuelo de ida estuvo bien pero tuvo retraso de 30 mins, el de vuelta igual pero en el de vuelta hubo turbulencias y ese avión se mueve mucho... La comodidad genial y las azafatas muy amables, es un avión bastante silencioso. Por lo demás muy buen video!!

Si tuvieras que elegir entre el Dash 8, el ATR y los Saab, cual elegirías para volar?
Pues ahora mismo me iría en un Saab sin dudarlo porque es el que falta en el canal de esos 3 jaja.
Dicho eso, la comparación que puedo hacer es entre el ATR y el Dash... El Dash me parece mejor avión la verdad, aunque el ATR con sus nuevos interior también está muy chulo.
También, lo de poder ver las ruedas desde la cabina es un plus! 😎

Pues la verdad es que el único consejo que puedo dar es abrocharse bien el cinturon.
A mi no me momestan en absoluto. No puedo dar ningún consejo respecto a miedo que puedan provocar o algo parecido porque no me pasa eso.
Lo que sí puedo decirte es que es una situación normal de cualquier vuelo y que no supone peligro ni riesgo alguno para el avión. Lo cual no quita que sean un poco molestas.

Hola ,buen video con pocas nubes y bonitas vistas al entrar x Inglaterra y de la pregunta de lis aviones ,pues como sabrás aquí en Canarias los ATR de Binter y Air Europa ,me parece a mí qu son un poco parecidos (creo),yo no entiendo de aviones ,vivo muy cerca del aeropuerto Tenerife norte y los veo y oigo todos los días ,incluso el primer avión qu aterriza qu creo qu es de Air Europa qu viene de Madrid y ya es un no parar por estos lares,y de A380 la verdad que ya me gustaría ,mi cuñado si viajo de Madrid , Dubai , Japón ......dice que fue una verdadera pasada!!

I will fly with FlyBe in weeks again for the 2nd time this year. It´s sadly that the brand is about to be canceled after the takeover. And I´m not sure that their currently route network will remain in this form.

Thank you!! German aviation news reported a few days ago that flybe will be renamed "Connect Airways" and then is a part of the Virgin Group.
I flew in May DUS-LCY (D8) und in a few days it will be MXP-MAN-DUS (E175).

So are they getting rid of the Flybe brand? I don't know it's a good idea... I think the brand has a lot of value. It's known by many people all around Europe...
The brand flybe is about to disappear the website reported. Connect Airways will then act as a feeder for Virgin. I don´t know if then the traditional regional routes of flybe are history and feeder flights are mostly go to LHR or LGW? We will see in the near future.....
@@juancabrillo6859 Mmm I really don't think they will fly to LHR. There are simply not available slots there. Maybe they will focus more on LGW.
I really think that they won't leave the good position they've achieved in the regional market. There are lots of profitable routes between regional airports in my opinion.

Well the answer is because alliance want to save fuel costs. It also done to minimise noise levels.
It's done for fuel-saving, yes. There are no noise restrictions anywhere that forces you to taxi just with one engine.

Basicamente la revoluciones por minuto de las hélices alcanzan un número que es cercano al número de fps que graba la cámara, por lo que parece que están estáticas. Por ejemplo, si grabase en 60 fps, las hélices se moverían todo el rato.

Haha Yes! I've heard about and seen Air Azores planes many times. Actually, I'm planning a trip there. Maybe by the end of summer it will be possible. 😊
I've read that TAP flies the A321NEO many times to Azores.
Is there any chance of flying there in A330 or similar? ✈
@@OnBoardHD Azores Airlines have 2 a321 neo and now the new a321 neo- LR. Its a perfect place to take a holidays my island. Azores Airlines and Sata air Açores make all 9 islands and connect to Lisbon, porto ETC

@@OnBoardHD The fleet of a310 is out. So much old planes. Unfortunaly because he are a big one plane beautiful. The fleet is out about 2 mounths.

@Nil Ribes No, the Boeing 767 is a Boeing 767 - Delta operates the route Atlanta - Stuttgart always with an old 767 - it´s the only Longhaule-Route which Stuttgart Airport has.
