It’s an awesome feeling when you’ve caught nothing but dinks for a few days. I watch this video. Have a lightbulb go off. And catch a solid 5 pounder. Thanks
I like you man because you explained that With fishing you’re not always going to be successful but that doesn’t mean you’re a good fisherman or a bad fisherman you’re not always going to go out there and catch a fish. What fishing is all about is having fun and being able to go out and enjoy gods creation
Yes it is praise the lord of lords fishing even better with the family 👪 I just have to remember not to have such high expectations for my children and it's a much better time
Very educational video! I fished a small pond in S. Fl. the other day. I couldn't get any bits along the shore, fishing from the bank. I started casting deep in the middle of the lake and started catching bass on plastic worms. It's good that you have a lake like the one you are fishing that has big bass in it and that doesn't get a lot of pressure.
Thanks for the video. I live in Florida and just recently trying to fish fresh water. I have had no luck at all. I am going to try some of your techniques. Again thanks
This is so interesting to me I'm in central FL got up yesterday made my wife coffee before she had to leave for work I looked at her car and noticed there was a little ice on the hood of the car.... When I get to my spot and put the kayak in my feet tell me man this water is getting cold started just fishing a Whopper popper 90 by the bank and had about 7 blow up but Everytime the blew up short this was a study retrieve after a while I just started jerking my Whopper plopper and did manage to get 2 before calling it a day sometimes we just got to listen to the fish!
Hey Gene, you mentioned Strike King tungsten. What's your thoughts on Siebert outdoors tungsten? I'm impressed by them compared to the cost. My terminal coffin is filled with almost all Siebert and some Tackle supply Depot tungsten. Also love the Fukemaster jigs.
Nice video Gene. You caught 1 more than I did down there at Bienville. Can't wait to go back again next year. Great meeting you too! How about an A-rig video?
Gene i fished upper pickwick today for 4 hours and not even a sniff! Threw everything but the kitchen sink..lol we are having a massive shad kill and man they aint biting nothing!
Watching this makes me want to go out here in Raleigh NC where water is in low 40s but never have much luck. Instead focus on catfish and Crappie instead
Wesley Hackney hahaha funny u say that. I live in Wake Forest right next to Raleigh. I’m only 13 and going fishing with every chance I have. Last winter I caught plenty of bass on falls lake during the winter months. This winter I can’t catch a thing
Went out yesterday for the first time of 2018 only took jigs and fished mind numbingly slow with no luck. Those days really kill confidence. I'll be waiting for the warmer weather now, even though I'm itching to rip a lip.
Hey Gene, you going to be at KY Lake in May for the Bassmaster Elite Tourney? We scheduled a trip down that way the same weekend and was wondering if you were planning any meet and greets.
Gene, you’re complaining about 48 degree water, half the lakes up north are half frozen if not all the way frozen. I would love to have some of the 48 degree water. Lol
Really Gene? Water temperatures around here in Nashville have ranged from 38 to 43 degrees. If the water temps around here were in the 50’s, I would go everyday.
Hey Mr Jean. I love your videos. I just subscribed. I live near Pensacola FL and just yesterday I caught one that was 4lbs and 5 oz. But how do you set the hook this time of year. I got a ton of bites but missed almost every one. During the summer I get most of the bites. What's the difference? Also if you're ever this way I'd love to fish with you. All I ever fish is rivers
Winter fishing yeah right. Where's the 34 degree water. 40 and 50 is fall weather. It's neat seeing somebody winter fishing and not having to deice your guides.
They don't make the Blackout because No8 Tackle was dissolved and is now the One3 Brand. The Blackout is now called the Fate Chrome and the guides are different.
Please excuse me if you've been asked this before. I don't own a boat so, fishing from shore is my only option. The wife and I want to try winter fishing. On average which species of freshwater fish is easiest to catch in the winter? I've seen videos on cold water bait and tactics but, nothing on the species most likely to bite in cold water close to shore. Thank you.
As always, thanks for the knowledge! I am anxious to get out for my first fishing adventures! Now, if I could just find the time... I have 2 full MTBs to work.
Awesome flukemaster. I love how you actually explain how to fish . These other youtubers for ex. Jon b peric etc are trash and the exception of one rod one reel
It’s an awesome feeling when you’ve caught nothing but dinks for a few days. I watch this video. Have a lightbulb go off. And catch a solid 5 pounder. Thanks

I learned bass fishing from watching all of your videos and wanted you to know that you’ve helped me to stick with a healthy
Cold water, 4" fluke on a dropshot, game over

Can't believe I met and shook your hand at the East Tennessee Fishing Show! Great inspiration!
You yube is not letting me comment my question in the comment section. Do you know what power rod hes using?
Caught a bunch on Sunday in lake Thomas. Friday and Saturday was some of the toughest fishing I've ever experienced. Great video!
I could watch these kind of videos all day
Thanks for the video. I live in Florida and just recently trying to fish fresh water. I have had no luck at all. I am going to try some of your techniques. Again thanks
Lord knows I need it! Great meeting ya this weekend and thanks brother!
I enjoy the old style fishing vid like this
We punch in winter here in Illinois too, but if the ice is more than half an inch thick that 1.5 oz punch weight just won't make it.
Good to see you fishing. I learned several things from you in the 1st half of the video. Thanks for the info.
Love these kinds of videos Gene. Your thought process... me learning. Thanks!
The way you described the lake, it sounds like it's a strip mine lake. When the water temp is that low, I've had a lot if good luck with a jerk bait.
Love the tease jump behind and your reaction! Great video!
I still have that same exact rod. I love it for the the cost and works great 👍
Love this video! Very similar to the places i fish the most.
I use a hefty tackle box too. Come up north and get into some steelhead. Best winter fishing.

Like that your are doing your “how to/teaching” videos again! Keep it up man!
Slow is good, thanks Gene another great teaching video.
Good tips Gene! Very informative! 👍🏻👍🏻
i keep trying to find cold weather fishing videos and ive realized the definition of cold weather is greatly skewed.
Wide angle lens put everything below your vest on blast lol. Love your channel and thanks
Finally been waiting for this
Nice video Gene. You caught 1 more than I did down there at Bienville. Can't wait to go back again next year. Great meeting you too! How about an A-rig video?
This has what I needed.
Great seeing you at the East TN fishing show
Awesome video and thanks for the tips!
Love wintertime fishing on a kayak! Just gotta stay safe!
I needed this video. It's not freezing anymore, but now it's just cold. The fish are unresponsive, but I'm beginning to see a little fish activity
Gene i fished upper pickwick today for 4 hours and not even a sniff! Threw everything but the kitchen sink..lol we are having a massive shad kill and man they aint biting nothing!
I fished Wheeler. Same results!!!
This is really well done man. I like how you aren't in a hurry to crank it in and whale it back in before the camera gets a shot at it 👊
Watching Bass fishing videos while working Bass Junkie just can’t say no
Good stuff big dawg.
Man I bout 💀💀💀died when you pulled out that big'ol bag of plastics... 😂😂😂😂
😂 right and I thought I carried a lot
Great video, thank you!

what is the fish finder you are using?
How do you like the Jackson Kayak “Liska” Model?
Went out yesterday for the first time of 2018 only took jigs and fished mind numbingly slow with no luck. Those days really kill confidence. I'll be waiting for the warmer weather now, even though I'm itching to rip a lip.
very nice, thank you
Sorry about our Bulldogs. My heart ached for a week after the game. Nice vid!
Great video keep it up!
well done, nice tips and you got some bass doing that
You’re the man Flukemaster! I wanted to ask, how do you get your great audio? What type of mic setup do you use? Thanks!
Hey Gene, you going to be at KY Lake in May for the Bassmaster Elite Tourney? We scheduled a trip down that way the same weekend and was wondering if you were planning any meet and greets.
I haven’t caught a bass in 2 weeks and I’ve fished everyday
I haven’t caught a bass since mid December . It’s part of the process .
Caught one yesterday, drop shot zoom watermelon finesse worm. Brush pile by dock with sand stone "rock" around.
Gene, you’re complaining about 48 degree water, half the lakes up north are half frozen if not all the way frozen. I would love to have some of the 48 degree water. Lol
Tybro2 • the problem is it’s Florida and the bass are affected differently to those temps
Tybro2 is correct. Florida bass react worse to cold temps than northern bass.
Yes they go dormmate it seems. I always dreaded the cold fronts when I am fishing down there
What’s good about the 2 tap vs the normal red eye shad???
I don't think the 2 tap is as good. The sound a 2 tap puts off is far from the sound from an old school red eye shad.
Ponds are frozen in Colorado. I fish the river it’s 30 degrees
Do an update on the kayak (what's new)
Where does one get a 5 gallon zip lock bag?
That Murder Inc. Try a grocery store.....
Nice video!!!!!!
Nice to see someone catching smthng. Sure ain’t been me. lol. 🤙🏻
I like your impersonation of a suspended fish...haha
great video, just subscribed
Hey guys would a daiwa bg 5000 fit for that kind of fishing ? or is it too small ?
Really Gene? Water temperatures around here in Nashville have ranged from 38 to 43 degrees. If the water temps around here were in the 50’s, I would go everyday.
44 degrees in va. caught fish sat, guys from Texas do not like cold water. ha,,
Really Todd? Water around here is frozen. Someone always has it worse
what power rod are you using
you cracked me up at your "oh look at me comment" lol
Hey Mr Jean. I love your videos. I just subscribed. I live near Pensacola FL and just yesterday I caught one that was 4lbs and 5 oz. But how do you set the hook this time of year. Are you using a #4 hook?
Thats one big bag of worms! On a lil kayak
If I have big pond with very little cover how should I go about that in the winter
Great tips awesome video👍👍🔥🔥🔥
What type of knot you was tying when you was Texas rigging the bio spawn worm.
All iced up here!!
Are Lily pads a lot like water hyacinth? I have tons of Lily pads in the lakes I fish. Also how do you approach pads?
Why did they end No.8 tackle? I love the hellbent rods
Also which 13 fishing rods have close or same blank as the 8 hellbents? if that could be answered
Dang. Very sad to hear about the Blackouts, I love mine and was getting ready to buy another
FlukeMaster if you haven't already do a tips and tricks for bank fishermen
Most of the tips you see in a boat or yak can be used on the bank. You just have to apply them Differently
Winter fishing yeah right. Where's the 34 degree water. 40 and 50 is fall weather. It's neat seeing somebody winter fishing and not having to deice your guides.
In Florida wintertime, it doesn’t snow and temps at night rarely get under 30 degrees.
Why were you throwing a black/blue when the water was relatively clear? (I thought you threw that when the water was murky?)
How to bass fish in winter: Go to Bienville Plantation in FL. Got it.
I can see open water!! Gettin close
They don't make the black out because the rod guides where very cheap and they broke off. I know because i had one and it fell apart on me
They don't make the Blackout because No8 Tackle was dissolved and is now the One3 Brand. The Blackout is now called the Fate Chrome and the guides are different.
Flukemaster o well that's good
That's the truth man. I'm with ya I go looking for that bait. Thanks for the VIDEO BOMB at the Expo. Yell at me sometime. I'll send my info.
We like orange and blue too.lol
cant catch nothing lately your reel sounds rough
Its the heavy braid
Anybody on how cold water is when u shouldn't use a rattle trap? Gene said 48° but when is it to cold?
Hey Gene, what is that alien head thing around your neck?
It is the remote for his micro power pole on the back of the Kayak.
What’s that knot called that you put on the Texas rig? Thanks!
It was a clinch knot
Please excuse me if you've been asked this before. I don't own a boat so, fishing from shore is my only option. The wife and I want to try winter fishing. On average which species of freshwater fish is easiest to catch in the winter? I've seen videos on cold water bait and tactics but, nothing on the species most likely to bite in cold water close to shore. Thank you.
Try fishing for winter specks (crappie).
As always, thanks for the knowledge! I am anxious to get out for my first fishing adventures! Now, if I could just find the time...
I have 2 full MTBs to work.
“That’s not goood”
*looks down somberly
Like bruh it’s ok your fishing things will pick up 🤗
I feel bad for the 231k wishermen 😂
you should really be having A drysuit on if your kayaking in cold water gene.
nιce
lol @ the giant bag of baits :)
I’ve been searching for a blackout rod and at least now I know I won’t be getting one. Any suggestions for one like it?
maxlhemp not 100% sure but I believe the 13 fishing defy series is basically the same thing.
The Fate Chrome is the exact same blank with different guides, handle and reel seat.
Sweet
You look like AJ Styles. Especially with that Georgia hat lol
That Murder Inc. lol. How did you come up with that
The stuff around that water hyacinth looks like water lettuce to me.
What paddle do you use?
Bending Branches Carbon Angler Pro
An expensive one
Awesome flukemaster. I love how you actually explain how to fish . These other youtubers for ex. Jon b peric etc are trash and the exception of one rod one reel
Chunk a shad rap bro
I don't think you know what cold is. Jeez. its like -5 degrees here today. I would kill for that so called cold fishing.
I'll just wait till the water warms up lol
