The archer was designed as an infantry support anti-tank vehicle for use in defensive positions. It is very niche and practically useless outside of this role. The secret is to get hull down or completely hidden by foliage and lob shells only visible in binocular view. I have had some success shooting while invisible. But it's important to have a bug out rout through cover pre planned.
tbh the constant hating on the archer is annoying. when i first played it i hated it too but once its stock its frankly a ridiculously good tank if you know how to play it. the complaint i had the whole way was lack of MGs but the archer is a good tank to get into position, get a bunch if kills and dash like you were never there. essentially a sniper with a very big gun.
My issue with the Archer isn't that it's bad it's just that it's only good when your team goes from winning to losing and you have the opportunity to get into a good position before its too late. Unfortunately since there's no proper defence mode in the game this tank is so far out of its depth that it's awful pretty much always as the above situation tends to just be a pendulum that swings too fast for this thing to move. If you're in a position where your team has taken a cap and pushed past it but overextended then its amazing as you can just sit in a defensive position and slam the enemy to pieces with the 17pdr. But you're so slow that if you get flanked there's nothing you can do but wait for death. In the very rare cases where I could get it into a defensive position to just hold the line while my allies respawned and got back to the front I actually found the Archer to be pretty damn good, having a 17pdr at its BR with a decent rate of fire is quite nice and often the enemy don't know wtf it is and where to shoot you to kill your gunner. Obviously its such a niche case though that the Archer is basically always at a disadvantage. My vote for worst tank ingame is that little premium Tier 1 Russian T-60 with the Rockets on it (BM something). I haven't touched it in years though so I have no clue if the changes to stuff like overpressure have made it any better but it was basically worthless when I used it.
I had a great match in one once fully upgraded held a point in a regular tier, regular shot wasn't too bad, but I prefer high velocity. 🤣 I took the cromwell out to 5.7+ just to have a fast flanker
Meh the Archer isn't the worst, I would argue the worst is actually a premium. The "Oh No it is a Ro Go" is way worse as its "good" gun has a truly pathetic 200mps and has a worse arc than a drunk man's urine stream and its "weak" gun has a whopping 575mps with a...drum roll...27mm of pen so you can easily non pen the lightest tanks in the game. Oh and did I mention you can kill the "heavy" Ro Go in seconds using only a 50 cal? So yeah the Archer may be slow but at least it can pen when it gets there, the Oh No Ro Go gets there are is about as useless as a kite on a submarine.
If they gave it the uprated engine compared to the normal valentine and the ranging coax machine gun (which it had) as well as spotting/artillery (sa it was always part of the royal artillery) it might make it more of a fun meme tank. I have a thing for using really shit tanks in WT and some of my proudest moments were getting kills on incoming revenge CAS with the archer... Having to reverse up on a rock to get enough elevation!
The Hurricane Mk IV’s cannons are pretty niche anyways. I rather take the 250lbs bombs or the 500lbs bombs on it. Decent plane overall if you have trigger discipline with the 2 7.7mm brownings!
@@liamboyle9199 Oh I like them too, but my problem is I don’t use rockets very often and I’m not accurate with them. I know HVARs and RP-3s are quite accurate, but it’s a skill issue for me. I only really use rocket pods like Hydras or SNEBs. Hell the only types of rockets I can reasonably use are Uncle Toms, Red Angels, or Tiny Tims. Again, nothing wrong with the RP-3s, just skill issue for me :p
Average British guy in ww2,hmmm why are tanks guns facing the enemy why can't they be facing BEHIND you and the reverse speed should be slower than a MAUS! Great vid as always man!
I refuse to touch the Archer ever again, NEVER AGAIN 😂
haha my first thought when playing that.
Same. Would've probably pulled out all my hair because of that thing if I wasn't already bald..
What if you did it with spookston
Traitor!!
I think if you can get a good position, it can be a demon because of the 17 pounder

No it wasn't. It was an anti-tank gun.
@@Emchisti Yes. Anti tank guns are infantry support.
@@Lord.Kiltridge not with the way the RA categorised 'infantry support'. That, to them, was smoke and HE.
@@Emchisti I edited to my original post. Thank you for your input.
THE ARCHER IS A SCAM IS FIRES AP SHELLS INSTEAD OF ARROWS

take a peek at where your shells were landing in the Hurricane. The gun dispersion at that range was perfectly on either side of your targets
Gotta get the range in first before we can critique the convergence😆
Weird, i quite enjoy the archer, normally do really well in it

To be fair, the stock grind on the Churchill NA75 almost made me quit🤣
Poor archer just can't find true love
Yeah that's true as well, I've not played that Churchill yet.

I wish they put Stabilizer on that archer, very painful experience not gonna lie and I feel you sir.
The trick is to get as close to the position you're trying to get to then swing it around and get into position.
You need get to position, drift it and shoot and get away again 😂 it was a pain but it was fun at the same time 😂😂
This is a good competitor for "The Worst Tank" title. But I would love to see you try the 3-inch Gun Carrier
I've always had good luck wit the 3" Gun carrier!
Feel like this is just a skill issue moment. I quite enjoy playing it.
Maybe! I think it'd be much better if it actually had a decent reverse speed as well.
ill take your word for it
The Corsair F Mk II is one of the best if not the best prop, tier for tier.
Lol. Great job , thank you brother.
Thank you!!
I killed two tiger 2h's with this in one game
The gun is great, everything else not so much
Yea wot decided we all should suffer in the british tech tree by making it not a premium and then not givine it inverted controls
I had 7!! kills with the Archer in one game.. Was on a flanking run on the Flanders map..
Is he using a soundmod? When I get shot at I dont hear the snapping of the round passing by
Yeah it's called ETSM :)
@@WeBeStronk I appreciate it!

What other tank requires a j turn to shoot? The archer has style.
Do you have an old war thunder sound mod?
I was in my m22 and i was so confused when o saw it
Play the Pvkv IV to know suffering in Sweden
The 'wrong' tank
Yep knew it was rubbish did it any way. shell ricocheted of light Swedish tank made my day poor that and poor after pen damage.

It faces the same way as the other anti-tank guns in use by the RA at the time.
This was painful to watch.
Day 2 of asking WeBe to play the Yak-1b
nice video
This is a vehicle that should be removed from the game; or at the least reduced to reserve tier.
Archer 🤔. More like Pinocchio 🤥🤥
Day 2: of asking WeBe to do the A21A/J21A

Nah it's not that bad. I had good games with it
Brit tanks??? I humbly propose for future gameplay Chieftain mk5 it's really underrated😀
2 views in 57 seconds? WeBe really fell off.
