Was it running on ac or dc? I think dc because the brushes are sparking and the motor would have gone still after the commutator explodes

A real universal motor, it can be dc motor or an asynchronous motor

The motor is probably very cheap. A good motor would not destroy the com like that, but it was cool and like a jump scare! 😳
