Jaycation visits La Jolla Shores in La Jolla, California. Growing up La Jolla Shores was the closest beach to my house, only about 15 minutes by car! La Jolla Shores is a great place for a picnic, to lay out on the beach, go body boarding, surfing, kayaking or go on a nice stroll or walk!
There are also a few great places to visit that may be hidden gems to the normal visitor. We visit a few of those spots like Scripps Pier, Birch Aquarium, Scripps Trail and La Jolla Shores Park!
We also hop on my Electric Longboard and cruise around the La Jolla Shores Neighborhood and check out a few places to eat like Shorehouse Kitchen, Galaxy Tacos and the famous and swanky Marine Room!
La Jolla is bigger than people think and La Jolla Shores is just one area to visit! Stay tuned for more La Jolla Videos!

It’s funny because watching you skating around and looking at the sky I remember San Clemente and Oceanside and San Diego have overcast skies pretty much every morning I sure miss that nice cool ocean breeze
Yeah that Marine Layer always exists until early afternoon! Unfortunately I think this sky is partly gray due to the wildfires around California.

Dude that swing is amazing! I tried to go but the parking lot that its linked to was closed and i couldnt get to it! Once the Aquarium is open, i will definitely include it in that video!

Hi, JJ. I love your videos. They’re so informative. My son was just admitted to UCSD, so I was wondering if you would do a tour of the campus and surrounding areas since you know it so well from your dad’s time there. I know a lot of the campus has changed just over the last couple of years, but it’s really hard to get a feel for it with the limited number of recent videos showing what it’s like now. I’d also love to see the bus system and new rail system and how they connect to other mass transit systems. With COVID, we haven’t been able to tour the campus in person, so we’re really in the dark about what to expect. Thanks!! Keep up the great work!!

I actually wasn't familiar with La Jolla Shores at all , just the cove/downtown. So beautiful.
La Jolla Shores gets overlooked with out of towners because there's not many shops around and it's kind of nestled away from the freeway. I grew up body boarding at this beach! I dont know why i dont like getting in the water as an adult lol

Hi, Jaycation, I have a question regarding parking in UCSD campus, how to find parking spot there? So I can walk around find cool stuff , like stone bear, or other statues, thanks
I looked up that pier and it looks like it is still closed all of the pictures are of people under the pier. There was a gate on it so people cant get on it. Is that due to the virus? (that would be majorly stupid if it is because you are in open air not a closed space and the virus is 99% recovery rate now and can you hang out on the pier? I am asking because I am partially handicapped.
The pier is actually used for the school of oceanography. I dont think its a public pier which is why its closed. All other piers in SD are open though

Next time you are in La Jolla shores get a sandwich at the Cheese Shop. The Lamb Sandwich and Pork Tenderloin sandwich are to die for. I can get behind Galaxy Taco even if their food is decent (but overpriced). Again they disrespect their employees and all workers with a service fee to grandstand against minimum wage increases.
I've heard the Cheese Shop is amazing. I might hold off on Galaxy Taco though!
@@Jaycation I don't want to sound like a broken record on the whole service fee thing, but it is something I feel strongly about. Only a few restaurant chains have implemented this. Sadly a number of these are ones I respected before this whole service fee started when we increased the minimum wage. Among them are Cohn group restaurants, Karl Strauss locations :( , and Georges by the cove locations (this includes Galaxy Tacos). Not coincidentally these are all fairly well off and expensiveish restaurants. Most other small and family local restaurants don't need to do this. If their costs go up, they should just raise their prices. They don't charge a fee when the rent goes up. But wealthy owners are taking a stand against their employees making a fair wage. IMO that stinks. Other high end restaurant groups, like Consolidated Holdings (Ironsides, Born and Raised, Craft and Commerce, False Idol), don't charge this immoral fee. It is sad because I won't give these places my business anymore, and many of these are restaurants I have really liked in the past. I have enjoyed Galaxy Tacos in the past, even if their tacos are not as good as and are more expensive than City Tacos.
