Jenkins let me correct you katono on education in the States may be it will help. The most important document is your S.6 certificate. When you get to the US and you have papers in line the first thing you do is to pay $30 to any company contracted with the Department of Education they will verify your UNEB certificate and turn it into an American GED with the Department of Education meaning you have more opportunities to work city, Union and government Jobs. that’s why it’s easy for people to join the US military because the Recruiters change the certificates for them to a high school GED. If you’re below 40 and you’re in college target Federal jobs the only way you can make $60 -$150grand a year. I know many Ugandans who make that much and they live a simple life. In America if you don’t have the knowledge and don’t do research you gonna be a security guard or cleaning shit forever with no life and little pay or being in between jobs.

Your education in Uganda counts abroad provided you don't change your names (Weird as it sounds, many people looking for Visas change their names). And also if you studied the right course in Uganda What is important is what you studied. If you studied journalism and you don't speak proper English or you speak Ugandan English, how do you expect to work as a Journalist in the US or Canada or UK?. Have you ever listened to Journalists of BBC or CNN speak English? What you say is true but whenever I see elderly Africans stuck in the diaspora living lonely lives especially during winter season, all their kids grown up and living their own lives elsewhere, it makes me think again as to whether I want to be comfortable now in the diaspora with a 9 to 5 job or I want to invest in Uganda where my money can make a big impact. FYI: As long as you have a green card, you can travel outside the US. U don't necessarily have to wait to get a passport. Also, before you decide to move, be prepared in your mind that you may never go back to UG esp if you don't intend to go back without papers.Some folks gave up on papers a long time ago depending on what is required of them to prove their cases. Many have been in the removal process for years n are constantly on the run until their luck runs out n get caught by ICE officials!
