That's great! It can be a lot of work to plan it but when you get there it will all make sense. Make sure you have your refugios booked!

We went through Alta Via 2 in august 2017, I can only suggest that - also - there were not many tourists, too demanding for most people :) I'm thinking of going to number 4 this sepptember. Interested in some photos?

prejdak hi there. Thanks! I haven’t actually done the Alta Via 2. I pretty much double staged everyday which obviously lead to some very long days trekking but meant we finished it in 4 days. There’s a few sections of via ferrata which you have to lift your body weight but nothing crazy. 20 kg on your back may make it a bit more fiddly and a little more tiring. There’s a fair few shear cliffs you’ll be snaking your way up but I presume you’re ok with heights. Hope that helps!

Thanks for your answer! :) That sounds easy enough, we also did two or three stages per day, so things concerning stamina are of no problem. :) By the way, if you liked the ferratas, perhaps you'd like the Tatra mountains in Poland and Slovakia. Check "Orla Perč", "Rysy", "Prielom" and "Roháče" here on youtube, perhaps you'd be into that. Tatra mountains are 4 mountain ranges (parts of Carpathian mountain range). Belian Tatras, High Tatras, Western Tatras (Roháče) and Southern Tatras. I myself like the Polish High Tatras and Slovakian Roháče the best. :) The mountains are secured with chains and ladders when climbing, not everywhere though.

On the most routes it is not Ferrara, but "secured path". Real ferratas are marked different on the map, can only be done with helmet, and stiff boots, belaying kit etc. See RUclips via brigata tridentina ! (Example). greetings from the Netherlands.

Hello Cameron, nice vid. :) Might I ask - what's your opinion of the via ferrata difficulty in Alta Via 4? Are they more difficult than those of Alta Via 2? We went through the Alta via number 2 in 6 days without any safety equipment, I think the difficulty rating was up to 3/5 (the ferratas were not too demanding even with 20 kilos in backpacks). Thanks.
