    Beautiful bright colors on your videos Simon.
    Do you have inspection ports in your fuel tanks where you can open them up and give them a good cleaning?
    I think that was well spent money on your fuel system. There's a headache you won't have in an emergency.
    Did first mate have her baby? Best wishes to her.

    That bacteria will form a sludge that will sit in the bottom of the tank until rough seas stir it up and you end up with a clogged fuel filter. I know from experience. Take care and stay safe...

    I don't know what he got done for the money but if you have contaminated fuel on a boat you have a mother and father of a headache and you have no option but to get it sorted! Been there done that and no matter where you are to get the contaminated stuff removed and all the lines replaced new filters etc ain't cheap, cost me €1450 about ten years ago and it was money well spent! I of course winced at the time but to know that the bloody engine would start and stay going when needed was worth every cent!

    • @TheGeordietheWitchandtheWench
      @TheGeordietheWitchandtheWench  4 года назад

      Yup!! It's an expensive process!! One that I didn't plan for, the money I'd saved was to pull out Narhval!! Sail North!!!!
      Oh well better now than at sea or a Lea shore!!

  • @jonocharles1046

    You mentioned rubber rings...and vaseline?
    .
    .
    Most lovely classic ships as yours use good solid brass fillers which are normally machined pretty good and should not need a seal fitted...but if you are using a rubber seal beware of the pet-jelly, as it eats rubber.
    Bizarrely i recall a video that showed why vaseline and condoms dont mix well !

    oh nooooo............ Vaseline is a petroleum based product ,not good for rubber. You want to use pure silicon grease on rubbers.... $1700 for cleaning fuel???? Sounds crazy to me. Did you get more than just a fuel polish??

  • @hommie789
    @hommie789 4 года назад +6

    $1700???!!! What did he do for that kind of money? You drained the tank and did not reuse the fuel. This apparatus just cleans the fuel and puts it back but you using all new fuel so using a kidney like this is redundant and at $1700 way overpriced. Better off going to buy several new filters and running the engine to burn off half a tank of new fuel, changing the filters when they clog and keep emptying the water bowl on the separator. That would cost you some filters and a half tank of fuel.

    • @TheGeordietheWitchandtheWench
      @TheGeordietheWitchandtheWench  4 года назад +3

      The tanks had about 30 litres each side, we polished 20L back to one tank, Biocide added, all hoses and new filters!
      The actual cost was 2400, but we settled at $2,000!!
      No inspection ports on tanks, easy access to engine though 🙄
