Hi Simon, Your editing is so good man. Im thinking $1700 was the new pipes and filters etc etc. well I hopeso anyway. Cant wait for July to fly home, Time seems to be dragging along.
2,000 was what I had to pay in the end!!! It's nasty stuff!!!! I'd like to get to the Whitsundays asap!! I think I'll get to see it with no charter boats around, probably a once in a lifetime thing!! Cheers

Gotta be the best fugging sunset time warp I've ever seen....those colours and your patience in leaving it recording all night!!! Simply staggering to me right now Sir! Gonna have to recapture that for keepers! Wow!
Sitting in lockdown, moneys getting tight mate ( at this end) looking forward to your setting sail, What's the line..."As the sun pulls slowly away from the shore" lol
Mads from Sail Life is in the process of finishing his diesel fuel system which allows him to transfer from one tank to the other and also to transfer back to the same tank to polish the fuel in the tank - onboard.
If I could I would in a heartbeat. Love what you're doing. Hopefully this panicdemic takes a hike and I can get back to work and flip ya a few. Fair winds to you!
Beautiful bright colors on your videos Simon. Do you have inspection ports in your fuel tanks where you can open them up and give them a good cleaning? I think that was well spent money on your fuel system. There's a headache you won't have in an emergency. Did first mate have her baby? Best wishes to her. Have a great weekend.
Tom!!! No inspection ports!! So we did the eBay we could pumping out!! Everything is looking good now, back on the Islands and looking to sail North any day!! I just got off the phone to Eryn!! The baby is due in 2-3 weeks!! How exciting 😁 Thanks and have a lovely weekend matey!!!!
Aye, once it was all done I reversed off the marina, Engine stalled and cut out, Narhval drifting towards a large power Cat!!! I jumped below and switched over to filter two, the engine started and I was out of there !!!!
The Geordie, the Witch and the Wench again so lucky you shouldn't doubt that beautiful lady of yours if she's looked after like you do have fun out there
The Geordie, the Witch and the Wench Jesus that’s $170 an hour for a relatively inexpensive piece of kit. Some people take advantage of certain situations. Keep up the great vids man. Hey where’s your PayPal, I’ll chuck a few beers your way.
Cool intro id l'd like to see the 12 hour long version....... was there rust in the tank ?....did he put the fuel in to a different tamk and back in to yours?
That bacteria will form a sludge that will sit in the bottom of the tank until rough seas stir it up and you end up with a clogged fuel filter. I know from experience. Take care and stay safe...
I don't know what he got done for the money but if you have contaminated fuel on a boat you have a mother and father of a headache and you have no option but to get it sorted! Been there done that and no matter where you are to get the contaminated stuff removed and all the lines replaced new filters etc ain't cheap, cost me €1450 about ten years ago and it was money well spent! I of course winced at the time but to know that the bloody engine would start and stay going when needed was worth every cent!
Yup!! It's an expensive process!! One that I didn't plan for, the money I'd saved was to pull out Narhval!! Sail North!!!! Oh well better now than at sea or a Lea shore!!
You mentioned rubber rings...and vaseline? . . Most lovely classic ships as yours use good solid brass fillers which are normally machined pretty good and should not need a seal fitted...but if you are using a rubber seal beware of the pet-jelly, as it eats rubber. Bizarrely i recall a video that showed why vaseline and condoms dont mix well !
oh nooooo............ Vaseline is a petroleum based product ,not good for rubber. You want to use pure silicon grease on rubbers.... $1700 for cleaning fuel???? Sounds crazy to me. Did you get more than just a fuel polish??
$1700???!!! What did he do for that kind of money? You drained the tank and did not reuse the fuel. This apparatus just cleans the fuel and puts it back but you using all new fuel so using a kidney like this is redundant and at $1700 way overpriced. Better off going to buy several new filters and running the engine to burn off half a tank of new fuel, changing the filters when they clog and keep emptying the water bowl on the separator. That would cost you some filters and a half tank of fuel.
The tanks had about 30 litres each side, we polished 20L back to one tank, Biocide added, all hoses and new filters! The actual cost was 2400, but we settled at $2,000!! No inspection ports on tanks, easy access to engine though 🙄
The Geordie, the Witch and the Wench fur coat, maybe think about using a water trap filter when topping up.I can’t find any at the auto parts store but will check with whitworths in the coming days,I’m deff going to get one.Its a funnel with a raised lip and mesh to trap water and particles.sail safe buddy.
A HUGE thankyou to those people who have thrown some dollars into my PayPal!!
You guys are amazing!!!! Thank YOU!!!! 😇
Seventy years old am I and I am still learning from your experiences, thanks mate. Bea u ti full.
Beautiful Overture (ouverture, opening). Very nice.
Love Narhval👍👍

I used a huge battery plugged directly into the GoPro!! With a 128gig card I could probably shoot for a few days!! 😉
Thanks!!!!!
Damn, shame you couldn't get at the main fuel tank, hopefully it doesn't come back with a vengeance!
It shouldn't , not with all the biocide and spare filters I have!! It's a great setup!!
Simon: Besides the black death, your camera skills are wonderful. I loved watching the night and morning come round.
I think I'll do more time lapses, I also enjoy watching the result 😉 thanks !!!!!
Magic start bro!
Thanks man!!! Hope all is well ;-)
Still beats working....even if you luv what you do..cheers
Hahah!! Yup, working!!! 🙄
Great footage on this one!
Cheers Bart!! #boatporn 🙄
Did you ask about using biocide in your fuel? In Alaska it's usually not a problem because it is cool up here. Filters remain important though!
Interesting //and expensive take care

Cant say I've seen 1700AUS$ O rings for fuel caps on the market, think I might go into business. Chin up chappy, it's all behind ya nooo ;-)
Aye!! Thanks!!!
$1700 ??? seems a bit dear. I'd think about building my own polisher rig for that.
I reckon the whole fuel system got an upgrade for that money....Oz ain't cheap....
@@reallynotyourbusiness1659 They don't reuse the expensive filters for one. Did my own for less than $100.
