This is a directed writing question video. You need to evaluate whatever writing piece you're given. Whether speech articles etc. Based on the question.
Paper 2 Question 2 you have a choice between narrative or descriptive writing. You have to write based on the statement given.
@@samreenzubair7428 I think your teacher is perhaps referring to writing from personal experience so there being an element of truth to your narrative - yes - I’d recommend it.

Quick question does going beyond the word limit also apply for the narrative writing and how many words extra should I aim for
The word count is suggested; you don’t get penalised for going over - just stay focused on the question. Spend one hour on each and write as much as you can within that hour.

@IGCSESUCCESS i had a query, in the 1st question of the directed writing, shall we talk on both sides and conclude with the one we support, or we should support only one side and write all pros about it?
Balanced argument and then for the bullet point two you can lean more to one side of the argument.

how many words do u suggest we write cuz my teacher was telling me that if u write more than 350 words the words over word limit doesnt get marked
Write as much as you can in the hour that you have.
Having been a marker myself, this is not the case… and never has been the case.

@@skynetteddragon9965 In terms of composition, if you are going to choose the descriptive writing task - aim for contrast, irrespective of the question; you don’t want it all to be one note.
For example: If it asks you to describe a beach, you might spend some time describing the idyllic and picturesque nature of the beach, but then you might describe a sinister cloud looming and everything changes.
Use the photograph methods.

Four detailed paragraphs.

For narrative my teacher told me to write based on one scene and not a continuous sequence of events, (for example getting selected for nationals then going to finals and winning for a sports) instead she said just talk about 1 scene like doing nationals. Is it okay to write a sequence of events or not?
One scene but focus on different aspects - you can still create a sense of moment.
I call it the photograph method.
Wide angle shot: Describe things from afar
Zoom in shot 1: focus on one particular detail
Zoom in shot 2: focus on another detail
Zoom out shot: describe things from afar again but maybe the atmosphere has changed - daylight to nighttime, for example.

Similarly to paper 1 q3, you need a range of ideas - you do not get a point per mark - this is often erroneous information passed on by teachers.
Six is fine providing you evaluate them well! ;)

Hey so I am writting the feb march series 2025 and I have my writting paper tmr. The reading paper was really hard and I wanted to personally know what cambridge examiners generally look for in narrative writting.
1: Unique features which differentiate my paper from other candidates
2: I heard examiners like the start and ending to be kind of the same so I had thought about an ending and it goes somewhere along the line
so here I am writting a narrative about (title of story) which goes like ..... (my first line)
3: A plain prompt from which I can transform any story.
if you could give me tips and suggestions on the following 3 bullet points it would be really helpful
Hmm…
1. Something not overly complicated but has some shape to it - a cyclical structure, as you mentioned, works nicely. Accuracy is really, important, too - try and ensure your spelling, punctuation and grammar is as good as it can be. A few ambitious words chucked in for effect will certainly help as well.
2. Yeah, I like that idea… I have done something similar in the past with one of my narrative videos.
3. Not quite sure what you mean.
