- Female employs the "slap" defense here. I'm guessing it was a Brown Thrasher who inadvertantly stuck his head in the nest box hole. The sound she makes is quite impressive given her relatively small size.
All chicks are doing fine and getting bigger and stronger. You can see their wings are getting larger with more feathers also.
Location: Myrtle Beach, SC Животные
I liked how the children all got still and silent when the mother got into defensive mode.
Chickadee uses "SLAP": It's super effective! What a good momma. I love chickadees!
Black Capped Chickadees my favorite birds.
What a good mom! Amazing birds nonetheless. I love, love your bird videos.
Whoa! That was as impressive a display of saber-rattling as I've ever seen! :-o
@mafting - Thanks for the comment. At the time I recorded this I didn't know the technical term for this behaviour.

Wow, great video. My kids enjoyed the poop-catching part, lol.
And poop is still funny 10 ys later
@@teekotrain6845 Poop will always be funny. :)
Whoa. She's mad.
You go! Fierce Mama
I know this is extremely old video but what did you use to record?
Wow. It's a wonder she doesn't injure her wings! BTW... Where do you position the nest box? I have several nest boxes around the property and have had house wrens but never chickadees.
+W TF This is in the yard at the edge of my lawn and woods.
Don't mess with chickadees!
What the heck, why is the mother's tail pointing straight up?
Like most songbirds, she is checking the babies for fecal sacs that must be removed from the nest.
WOW!! Not 'alf!! That sound....what a scary sound....sounds just like a "Predator"!!! [gulp] ;-j
I don't think Bruce Lee was that fast.
