I am studying biomedical engineering. During the past few days I was wondering if I had made a mistake. Thanks for showing this. I was about to change my branch and now I am not going to commit that mistake.
You shouldn’t make lifelong career decisions based on RUclipsrs opinion. Go to indeed.com and type Biomed eng jobs and see what comes and the kind of job description and see if it’s what you want long term.
I'm a jr in highschool and have been thinking what i want to do, i have decided i want to try the science field especially BME because of the connection it has with people in the medical field. Mainly because my family is filled with nurses and some doctores. I don't really enjoy math but i love thinkin and asking questions and coming up with ideas i wonder if it's the right career for me
I think BME will be perfect for you! Both of my parents are doctors and it really inspired me to choose BME! On my senior design project, I got to work with my dad, which I thought was pretty cool 😊
would you say the engineering aspects of BME outweighs the biology aspects of it? Asking as a college student interested in medicine but your video got me curious about BME
I think it definitely depends on the program/school. I've found it to be a pretty good mix but maybe leaning a bit more in the biology side. Even your typical engineering classes will have a focus in biomedical applications. e.g. instead of calculating flow rate through a pipe, you will be looking at air flow rate in lungs or blood flow in vessels. Hope this helps!
What a fantastic video! If this doesn't make it clear what BME is all about for prospective students, then no YT clip will! Great title too ;) PS: is that your dad in a Covid-suit? PSS: we still need to make a BMS-BME trade-off video (so much to do, so little time) PSSS: one of my favorite quotes is: "A jack of all trades, is master of none, BUT still way better than master of one!" (I'm a generalist you know ;))
Yes, that's my dad! And always love the multiple PS from you, definitely agree with the 3rd one! and of course, we shall get to working on that one 😎 Hope you're having a great day, Kevin!
And also! Yes it’s a covid suit in Mexico 🇲🇽 he is an obgyn and this was a picture where he was going to do his first c-section on a COVID-positive patient! Very glad everyone involved was well aware that the patient was infected so they could take proper precautions 😊
I’m still thinking if i should take this I’m currently in 10th grade i wanted to become a engineer but also a doctor so why not both right? But once again im having doubts
It's normal to have doubts! It is a big decision. But I think watching or hearing from other people already in the field is one of the best ways to help you make that decision! Good luck! 😊
My advice if you want to go into biomedical engineering is to do a mechanical or electrical engineering major with a biomed minor. It’s so hard to get entry level jobs with a BME
I would say they are all good for medical school, but definitely different amongst themselves. I would watch our podcast with Kevin to learn a little bit more about the differences between BME and biomedical science ruclips.net/video/Mvw_Yu1e3rc/видео.html
its really an inspiring video. i am thanking you sincerely for your presentation on bio medical engineering to health care tech industry. you gave such amazing and useful aspects for the aspirants who want to pursue career as bio medical engineer. i am proudly saying and sharing my experience as i worked in public health care industry at the time of covid-19 pandemic( 2020-2021). moreover i would like share you that as i have switched recently my career into bio medical engineering field, although i am Major in mechanical engineering. i am so contented to share you that i was so inspired as i watched previously one of your video by an expert in health care tech industry who is from mechanical engineering background. I appreciate @ TheBMELife as an incredible platform .
Thanks for the feedback! Both BME and ME are great degrees. Please note that there are typically more jobs and higher salaries if you’re a Mechanical Engineer. There is also more diversity and you can still work in the BME sector with a mechanical engineering degree. I’m not saying this to discourage you from pursuing BME. Just want you to be aware of the benefits of doing ME. HOWEVER, I can tell you that I LOVED my BME degree. If I could go back, I would still choose to study BME. The coursework in BME was much more interesting to me, and it has opened many doors and opportunities for me. With hard work and dedication, I’m sure you can be very successful as a BME. Best of luck to you!
@@TheBMELife Thank you for your kind advice and sharing your valuable experience. Absolutely, i agree with your point and consider it. Thank you so much for Your motivational words for a successful career as BME . Your guidance is so precious to me.

Is biomedical engineering really 'engineering' or is it better to study electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering? ... ( I better watch your other video of reasons to choose BME)
@@vizzeus that’s a great question. You do get the core engineering courses but if you want to learn more about building devices, electronics, coding, etc I would recommend other engineering degrees like those you mentioned. You can still do that as a BME, but most of it will have to be learned on your own. If you’d like, you should check out our latest Instagram post, where a BME talks about what she likes about BME! 😊 our IG is @TheBMELife
@@noahdeen6801 That is completely understandable! It’s a big decision and there are definitely reasons why you may want to choose one over the other. I would encourage you to talk to people in both fields and find out what you like better 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! Internships are very important for landing a job! Apart from that, networking and making valuable connections with professors and professionals is also key! 😊
I'm so confused about what to do. Currently I'm an electrical engineering student but i wanna take the Master's course in BME. Don't know whether it'll be a good decision or not. It's not like I'm not loving electrical but I just love the concept of BME.previously I thought of getting a masters in power system but suddenly got interested in BME. Now getting confused😔
I think having an electrical engineering BS and a biomedical engineering MS is a solid plan! Don't see anything wrong with it. You can certainly use your EE knowledge and apply it to medical devices!
I’m a current biomed student and a B student. Honestly, Its a broad field and an undergrad will mostly not be as beneficial. If you plan on a masters or even medical school, this might be a great choice for you. Personally, I picked it as I was indecisive, but regret not picking a more concentrated field. It also didn’t leave much room for college life experience like joining sports, major clubs that required serious commitments, and social life is probably minimal . I’m studying on weekends and/or searching for opportunities to get hands on experience like lab work. I’m also in an accelerated program school so my experience might not similar to others.
Thanks for your feedback! I agree a more concentrated field may work best for most, but I loved getting a BME bachelors and have found success without a mastered degree. The key is in finding internship opportunities that will give you the experience you need once you graduate. Best of luck to you!
If you have the prerequisite courses you need to get into a grad program, you can really take anything. BME should be a smooth transition in this case.
How do you feel about certification programs for BME? I'm a licensed architect currently struggling with the lack of stability and pay it provides. So BME is high on my list of career fields.
Hi Chris! I personally do not know of many certification programs for BME. BME is a bachelors degree, but there are certainly certifications BME can get like in leadership, management, etc. One of the certifications I have been interested in is a Cardiac Device Specialist certification. This is a very specific certificate, but I am sure there are other ones for other medical fields. If you are interested, you can find more info here: med.uth.edu/epheart/about/what-are-cardiac-device-or-cardiac-electrophysiology-specialists/

Best health related field rather than medicine. I'm still a senior beginning of university. I was just looking for the best career that's is mixed with math and physics. I can't get far from math nor biology. So this option finally helps me to decide. Thanks!

HEY, I am also studying BME currently and I am from India. I really like studying engineering with biology. I saw this video and it really inspired me. But people in India not give much importance to this field as they think WE THE BME's don't have a future in this career. And those people who major in mechanical, electric, and chemical engineering get the jobs of BME and the ones who major in BME are left unemployed.
Hey Vidhi! I totally understand your frustration. But I can guarantee you that if you put hard work and dedication and lots of networking, you will get those BME jobs. What you say can be true, but its up to you to make yourself a valuable candidate by going above and beyond during your undergrad! Hope this helps 😊

Oh as a dentist you can also dedicate to research! One of my boses had a DDS degree and he did lots of cool research projects. Eventually started his own startup together with a group of founders 😊
Have you asked yourself what you will do with that degree after you graduate? You should talk To your seniors who have graduated to find out where there work to give you and idea of the job outlook. Africa is t ready for Such programs. I can assure you that you won’t find a job in that field and will be forced to go to graduate school to find something meaningful in that degree.
@@saidbreich4740 ME gives you an in depth understanding of the mechanical systems for any application (e.g. biomedical, aerospace, etc). BME is highly focused in medical applications. I’m currently a biomedical engineering student and I’m really appreciate your advice, I’m a second year student .And my dream is to work in Siemens healtherners company after i graduate from my university so how can I improve myself so that I can reach my dreams as healtherners worker? Thank you 🙏 so much
My dad is a global marketer for the hematology aspect of Siemens healthcare! I’m looking to go into biomedical engineering as I’m about to start applying to colleges :)
I am studying biomedical engineering. During the past few days I was wondering if I had made a mistake. Thanks for showing this. I was about to change my branch and now I am not going to commit that mistake.
Glad we could help! BME is definitely not for everyone, but those who pursue it find it very rewarding :)
This is amazing, I am from Mexico and love these videos
Nice!! 😁 yo también soy de Mexico!
would you say the engineering aspects of BME outweighs the biology aspects of it? Asking as a college student interested in medicine but your video got me curious about BME
I think it definitely depends on the program/school. I've found it to be a pretty good mix but maybe leaning a bit more in the biology side. Even your typical engineering classes will have a focus in biomedical applications. e.g. instead of calculating flow rate through a pipe, you will be looking at air flow rate in lungs or blood flow in vessels. Hope this helps!
What a fantastic video! If this doesn't make it clear what BME is all about for prospective students, then no YT clip will!
Great title too ;)
PS: is that your dad in a Covid-suit?
PSS: we still need to make a BMS-BME trade-off video (so much to do, so little time)
PSSS: one of my favorite quotes is: "A jack of all trades, is master of none, BUT still way better than master of one!" (I'm a generalist you know ;))
Yes, that's my dad! And always love the multiple PS from you, definitely agree with the 3rd one! and of course, we shall get to working on that one 😎 Hope you're having a great day, Kevin!
PS: thanks! Got title idea from a great RUclipsr out there 😎👌
And also! Yes it’s a covid suit in Mexico 🇲🇽 he is an obgyn and this was a picture where he was going to do his first c-section on a COVID-positive patient! Very glad everyone involved was well aware that the patient was infected so they could take proper precautions 😊

I found this video to be very helpful. Thank you for the great work 😊
Yay! Glad it was helpful :)
Love ur way of presentation and ur voice😍
aww thanks a lot!
Can I do a master's or phd in Molecular and cell Biology after doing undergraduate in BME?
Definitely! 😊
If you have the prerequisite courses you need to get into a grad program, you can really take anything. BME should be a smooth transition in this case.
Just to join college for my BME... Huuh at least some hope.... Thanks for the video
Yesss! No problem 😊
