I’m a mom of 2 and thinking of going to DH school… I’ve been binging ALL of your videos & love seeing the “week by week” But I LOVE seeing someone else who is a mom doing this - since it has its own unique challenges. I worked in the dental field for 9 years, but that was 7 years ago (also I was just front desk, though I did a dental assistant program & learned all the basics while working front desk) ANYWAYS all that to day, thank you for your videos. My younger daughter starts kinder this fall & I’m going to wait to go until she is in 1st… but then decide & I’m so nervous about how hard those 2 years with be with juggling a Family.. BUT I’ve wanted to do this for like 15 years now … Soo if my business endeavors I’ve been working for don’t take off this next year, then I’m going to take the plunge in 2025 🫣 🤞🏻 Nervous but your videos help!
this comment means the absolute world to me! this program is not for the weak..and having children and a family to juggle into the equation, makes it even more of a challenge. But hey..I’m doing it! its possible, with the right determination and priorities and support system!! having the dental background is really cool! thats what got me to go in this direction, my love for people and my love for teeth! haha I hope you take the plunge! this field needs more people like you!! have you completed the prerequisites?! any more specific questions!? here to help! and I’m here to cheer you on! :)
@@LizPodNich thanks so much girl! I just found out yesterday that the program I was looking at (closest 1 to me is an hour away - all the rest are 1.5 hours or more) is still requiring the C-19 jab 😭 So if that doesn’t change, I won’t be going … hoping they drop it in the next year OR that there is an exemption I can get. I haven’t taken any pre-reqs yet because some of the programs out here want them to be taken “inside” the course, rather than before - I believe the one that close to be, they need to be taken before - so if I can get the jab part figured out, I’ll start there. (it’s not the school requiring it - it’s their clinical sites) I have 1 semester of college under my belt - but it’s basic things that I don’t believe are required for this course. There is a university I could go to, that’s closer, but it’s a bachelors & I was hoping to go to the 2 year community college route. I do have ONE question for you for now :) Is there anything I could study in advance to “get ahead” like head and neck anatomy or anything like that? Or is it best to wait until I start, & see what the class is like? (Of course I already know the extreme basics, like tooth numbers & surfaces)
Thank you so much for sharing your journey! I’ve been lost for awhile in undergrad trying to figure out what I want to do, but I definitely think dental hygiene is something I’d enjoy. Your videos have been super helpful, goodluck this semester! 😊
Ahhhhhh how incredible is that feeling to find something that truly interests you!!! Good for you girl!! And thank you so much, just trying to survive!
awhhh youre so sweet!!! I love that!! did you know its like the second most common bday in the world?! Virgos are amazing people hehe, my mom, sister, and husband, and you are all virgos!
Looking through your vlogs, it seems that im not smart enough to be a dental hygienist at all😢😢 alot of studying and confusing words. Do you still recommend going into dental hygien? Btw im a junior in highschool and need help😊
oh you 100% can do it, if I can! I barely graduated high school and definitely need topics dumbed down in order to understand them. Takes a lot of self discipline and time management but YOU CAN DO IT! 🤍
Hello,I want to know, does being a dental assistant first gives you a heads up in your program and is it a lot of standing as a dental assistant. How didfucult is it to get your first job as a dental assistant? They make more than pharmacy techs and cna(pre-nursing)❤
dental assisting is absolutely NOT necessary to do well in the dental hygiene program! as an assistant, I sat in my chair for most treatments so I dont think id say its a lot of standing! and its SO EASY getting a job as a DA, the dental field needs them so much so there are plenty of job opportunities! :)
Hi Liz! What brand of loupes did you go with? I also just finished week 5 of my first year of hygiene school, but I go to school in Oregon. I’ve loved watching your videos and feeling more at ease, like I’m not alone in all the stressed the program brings. 🫶🏻
@@LizPodNich school has been a lot! Very stressful, but I’m just trying to take it one week at a time and try to enjoy it. I purchased loupes from Orascoptic and I’m so excited for them to arrive! ☺️
